tom ,   tel aviv   (05.07.12)
having a "future" here. The house have to be on fire for someone from a western country to contemplate Alyiah (or more accurate: Yeridah). Unless one is a naive Zionist I wouldn't recommend it, sorry Brothers.
2. Is Gilad Shalit's mother a Jew?

3. #1 93% Israelis proud of their country
Menachem ,   Israel   (05.07.12)
According to a recent poll 93% of the Israelis are proud of their country and the vast majority don't want to leave Israel. Kvetching might be a Jewish national sport but the facts are that the life quality in Israel is generally high and is soaring and living standards are comparable to EU average. Meanwhile most of the EU is suffering from recession so it is not true that the grass is necessarily greener elsewhere.
4. Tell you something
G. Frankl   (05.07.12)
The whole Shalit family including Gilad supported Hollande. (For they should/must go to Holland now - or back to France they came from!)
5. France was never a friend
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (05.07.12)
Time to forget it as it sinks in the mire of Islamism. They were'nt even good fighters. We have all heard about the french army rigle that was for sale on e-bay. Never fired, dropped once. And in WW1 they tried to charge rent from the British soldiers occupying the trenches.
6. @2 yes she is! Ask Rabbi Yosef he saw her mother's Ketuba!

but the real question is how your question relevant?
7. @4 Gee Frankl & where shall we send you back 2?

8. manner in which French expats in Israel voted reflects...
A.S. ,   Israel   (05.07.12)
the manner in which American expats and all other expats in Israel vote. That is expats vote in a manner disconnected from the reality that exists in the country they are expatriated from.
9. The post at No. 5 is not mine.

10. French Israelis wanted a right wing govt.
Smolanit ,   Aix en Provence, FR   (05.07.12)
They've got one. In Israel. Those of us in France have other ideas about the kind of government we want. Hollande may not be perfect, but he is better than Sarkozy. Ironically, had the voters who voted for LePen in the primary supported Sarkozy instead, there might not have been a need for a run off, and the Sarkozy whose defeat they lament might have won.

The manner in which all expats vote is called free elections. Each one decides whom to vote for. How can anyone say whether it is disconnected from the reality that exists in the country they are expatriated from? Especially if you haven’t lived there. And if you have, it means that your opinion is just your opinion, and not necessarily true.

13. @11 yes it is my opinion, that's what TBs r 4 opinions....
AS ,   Israel   (05.07.12)
Thing is that besides it being my opinion it is the PRINCIPLE argument given by the governments of the State of Israel when Israeli expats start whining about and asking for the right to vote in Israeli elections. I suggest you do a bit of academic research on the topic and then you will learn that my opinion has a fine scholarly support. So yes it is necessarily true! Just sayin' have a nice day!
14. #10 who cares
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.07.12)
News flash: most people who voted for Sarko were non-Jews who live in France. Sarkozy was as bad for Israel as Hollande will be. I imagine the French who live in Israel voted for Sarko because their demographic is hard working people (who want less taxes) and not spongers who think they are entitled to benefits (who want more transfer payments). By the way, can you tell us how French people living in USA, Russia and China voted? I saw that most French living in Morroco voted for Sarko.

First you protest that it is only your opinion, then you state it is the truth. Thanks for proving the original intent of my post. Just sayin'. Have a nice day.
