Avi ,   USA   (05.14.12)
Let's Celebrate Nakba like we celebrate Purim. Let's make it a happy holiday. Like we celebrate the downfall of Haman and Amelek, we can celebrate the downfall of the Arab armies that tried to destroy the Jews. So, Happy Nakba Day to all my Arab Enemies.

Devorah   (05.14.12)
Great post! Doing that would neutralize Nakba Day. I like the way you think.

Daniel ,   TA - IL   (05.14.12)

PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (05.14.12)
ethnic cleansing. They refused peace, partition and refused to settle for" only" 90% of the mandate which was never an Arab country. Then they cry victim.

10. Not "right wing" protestors!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (05.14.12)
It is not correct to call these people as such! They are the "true" Israelis who are protesting for their country not against, like these moron left wingers. The majority of Israelis are fully behind these people Ynet calls the "right wing" protestors!
11. #4 Daniel , TA - IL
Don ,   Kibbutz Nahal Oz   (05.14.12)
You Daniel, have no idea of how members of Kibbutz feel, no idea at all. I love Independence day and I do not live like a king and take nothing from you or the country, that you in Tel-Aviv don't receive from the country. We served in the army and many of us died fighting for this country I and others on the Kibbutz, on what ever we get, we worked long hard hours for it. Again Daniel, you have no idea of how we feel Daniel, I am sure like you, I am proud to be an Israeli.
12. What to commemerate ?
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (05.14.12)
The failure of the attempt to annihilate the just born Israel and a possible second holocaust ? Normal nations prohibit such acts. What about if in France the Waterloo Battle day would be a national feast ?
13. 27th January
Jarda ,   Czech Republic   (05.14.12)
Should the rest of the world make a party on January 27th?
14. TAU's NakbaDayRally
Thomas Schaltegger ,   Liestal/Switzerland   (05.14.12)
...those leftist should first learn history and second not to saw on the branch they are sitting on - or better leave the tree, because they have become too content and too fat from Israeli wealth and then risk to break the branches!
15. naqba day at TAU
dr daniel mostrel ,   paris france   (05.14.12)
why do you call these opponents leftists? i hope that main leftists are nationalists and proud of israel ; those who want to commemorate naqba day are against the israeli state and want its destruction , this is not freedom of speech it s treason
16. This is the day the Arabs start to walk back to Arabia..
Anna M Sedda ,   Rome-Italy   (05.14.12)
Thank God this is the day the Arabs find out that their Capital is Mecca and their state Saudi Arabia.Arabia=Arabs Judea=Jews that s quite simple...
17. Adult Supervision Necessary
Ron ,   OC US   (05.14.12)
The administration should be fired. There is no explanation necessary.
18. Why are the arabs whining?!
futuva mamaincur ,   Romania   (05.14.12)
They brought the Nakba on themselves by rejecting UN res 181 and going to war to destroy Israel and kill the jews. What did they expect , to be welcomed with flowers and candies?! Listening to them whining is like listening to germans complaining for being defeated in WW2, a war they had started...
19. There is nothing wrong with commemerating a "memorial event"
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (05.14.12)
in Qalqilya, Jenin or even Ramallah. Tel Aviv is not the locale for these types of events.
20. Don No.11.
ray ,   Zurich Israel   (05.14.12)
Well said Don..Work long ,hard hours.I am proud to be an ex, volunteer and later a Kibbutz member,, We are also entitled to our Political beliefs...Shalom and one day PEACE in Israel...
21. #24 they can't
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (05.14.12)
You want Leftists to learn history, but they can't. I don't know about Switzerland, but in Israel, Leftist do not believe in history or facts, only in "narratives". Instead of logical thinking based on reality and experience, they accept a decision by their guru and then invent a fake reality that supports their beliefs. To be a Leftist in Israel, you must be incapable of rational or logical thought.
22. #9 abdalla
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.14.12)
Arab “palestinians” certainly do have a history. They came from arabia [get it?] in the 600's CE arab conquest, with many coming in the early 1900's in response to a better economy (due to the influx of additional Jews in the late 1800's), and even more in 1947 when Jordan wanted arabs to take the place of the Jews (who had been there for centuries) were kicked out. When you said ‘Palestinian’ in 1948 you meant the Jews. You obviously don’t care about historical fact. But that is no reason for you to have what you are not entitled to.
23. #11 don - kol ha'kavod...
solomon ,   bklyn   (05.14.12)
for your post, and kol ha'kavod to all kibbutznikim; especially those kibbutzim that are trying to keep their original socialist system and raison d'etre.
24. 1
zionist forever   (05.14.12)
I am going to get dressed up as a rusty key this year. You will see me walking down the street dressed as a rusty key and having a party. We can all buy kalashnokovs and whenever they mention zionist entity then we can shoot them into the air or throw our shoes.
25. "6 Arab students presented their personal stories"
William ,   Israel   (05.14.12)
Unless these students are 70 years old, they have NO personal stories. If they want to spin a yarn about their grandfather during the war, perhaps they can explain how they remained in the State of Israel, and attending a top university as an equal citizen, while decrying the birth of the democractic State in which they can protest freely.
26. #9 - "Palestinians" deny themselves a history
William ,   Israel   (05.14.12)
By claiming some fictitious narrative as a unique population with claims of land governance and ownership, despite the facts disputing it. If "Palestinians" want to be true to their history, they would admit they are a conglomeration of many foreign immigrants who got caught in the middle of a war and were used cynically as fodder by Arabs for decades. That would be the only way to get a future State - you're here now, but if you continue to seek replacement of Israel, you won't be here long.
27. #13 - Absolutely celebrate January 27th
William ,   Israel   (05.14.12)
Good things happened on that day, like Steve Jobs' unveiling of the iPad in 2010. Germany celebrates its first Holocaust memorial day in 1996. First station-to-aircraft satellite transmission takes place in 1965. I prefer to mourn the real tragedy in history - April 3rd, 1949 when Jordan illegally annexed then ethnically cleansed Judea/Samaria.
28. #18 - a misunderstanding of what "Nakba" means
William ,   Israel   (05.14.12)
There is a current misunderstanding of the word "nakba" and why the Arabs mark this day. Some, especially Leftists, claim this was the day that Arabs were driven from the land following a war they lost. First, they were never driven from the land - and plenty of documents support this. What Nakba really means is the day Arabs couldn't follow through on their genocidal war against Jews - or in other words, Nakba Day is Arab Humiliation Day and is really what they've been marking for 64 years.
29. does anyone else see the irony...
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (05.14.12)
That these Arab-Israelis, who have more democratic rights than any Arab in any country in the Mideast, that are enjoying a taxpayer subsidized education are protesting the "catastrophe". Maybe it is a catastrophe that Israel gives these ingrates so many rights & aid.
30. It is only a matter of time before these "demonstrators"
Adam Smith   (05.14.12)
commemorate the beginning of the Shoah as an historic event that must be celebrated... They must be stopped now!!
