1. Boycott Israeli products
joe ,   uk   (05.25.12)
South Africa has announced its boycott plans, Denmark and Ireland these goverments should be ashamed for listning to these pro palistinians people which know where to go and press the right buttons with the people who can put the boycott in motion israel should learn from the PA PR
2. THIS HAS TO BE THE BEST ARTICLE EVER WRITTEN IN YNET NEWS !
ALBERTO   (05.25.12)
IT SAYS EVERYTHING ! THE WHOLE WORLD SHOULD READ THIS ARTICLE AND FINALLY KNOW THE TRUTH ABOUT PALESTINIAN HYPOCRISY.
3. Not Correct
Paul ,   South Africa   (05.25.12)
This article is not correct. There is no boycott of goods manufactured in Samaria & Judea. All it says is those products cannot be labeled "made in Israel". You can still as usual export these products from Israel to South Africa - NO PROBLEM, but it must be marked " made in West Bank or made in Palestine or made in Judea, etc." Please get your facts straight.
4. boycott the boycotter.
yossi   (05.25.12)
South Africa, the paragon of virtue, honesty, excellence, laisser-faire (# one in crime), has decided that Israel should confine itself within the 48' borders as defined by an hypocrite, worthless, dishonest, bunch of crooks working in this infested den called UN
5. # 3 To Paul
Jules   (05.25.12)
Palestine is a name of the geographical region in which the State of Israel is built. There never was a country named "Palestine". And never will.
6. SA under the ANC
me ,   whereever   (05.25.12)
is worse than SA under the NP. True story.
7. Please get your facts right!
dbnnet ,   n/a   (05.25.12)
Whilst its true that the ruling ANC in South Africa have totally lost their moral compass I would suggest that Elior Levy at least get the facts right before writing nonsense. There is no boycott in place by South Africa, neither is one planned. The issue is one of labeling of products, which is indeed politically motivated by the looney left, but by no means a boycott!
8. And "palestine" wants to be a state
Devorah   (05.25.12)
Untold billions have been given to "palestine." Where did all the money go? It clearly was not appropriated toward the development and growth of "palestinian" manufacturing, business and agriculture. Had it been otherwise, "palestine" might have been a competitive player in the global marketplace.

joemoer ,   israel   (05.25.12)
where is this palestine ..you want goods labeled as made in palestine. palestine is a 'conventional name, among others, used to describe the geographic region between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River' ...sounds like the un rcognized state of isael to me . according to your logic (south african) ..products now produced in Trieste should be labelled that they are not part of italy, products from transylvania should state that they are not from romania, products from northern cypress should be be labeled such, just to name a few...i say good on south africans ..start this correct labeling but make it not just against jews ..otherwise you will be found out
10. Article misleading
Andi ,   Israel   (05.25.12)
The S African labeling issue relates to products produced in Judea and Samaria. They have no issue with products produced in Israel outside Judea and Samaria, like the PA. Indeed there is no boycott, its just about the labelling. The PA IS boycotting products from settlements. The article proves that the PA is boycotting, unlike S Africa and therefore the headline is misleading.
11. Embarrased South African
Ariell Levy ,   Johannesburg   (05.25.12)
The difference between South African foreign policy and its domestic policy is massive and totally skewed. While at home the government (albeit truly corrupt) institutes general policies of democracy, freedom of expression and non racialism (not withstanding BEE - Black Economic Empowerment, based on color...), our foreign policy is disgraceful. South Africa's close partners are Iran, Libya, Cuba and China. Countries that have zero regard for human rights and regularly violate all decency internally and externally . South Africa is extremely anti Israel and is absolutely biased when it comes to hating Israel and will do anything to placate its Arab friends. I am truly embarrassed by this further attempt to undermine and punish Israel. As a Jew I apologize to Israel - our true home and place of safety and refuge. The absolute majority of Jews here are proud Zionists and no matter what - we will always support Israel!

But the world exlluding Israel wants to create the State of Palestine the same as Israel is created. So the products manufactured in the occupied Palestinian lands must be labled made in Palestine.
13. To all the deluded bloggers who have
FI   (05.25.12)
an obsession with labelling Israeli products otherwise, I want to let you know that there is only one way to do it. The way we did it so far. This is simply because we do not take into account a fraudulent name coined by the Romans 2000 years ago - PALESTINA !!! But even if we have/must use it, it was invented by the Romans only for the Jews, Jewish tribes, regions and the Land of Israel. So, what is this whole mess about? Where are the Arabs living on our lands fit into this whole Latin story? And most weird of all, where are the South Africans coming in from? I truly believe that we could friendly and peacefully tell them and their Irish and Danish friends to let go and deal with so many other things on their agendas.
14. South Africas refugees will run to Israel.
RIO ,   New York   (05.25.12)
Israel hater,South Africa, will fall. The refugees will run to Israel and beg for food. We already see what is happening currently.

harold, until there's a country called Palestine you can't lable a product Made in palestine.that would be a lie don't you agree.
19. Old Rhetoric, Old News!
Gary Spedding ,   Belfast, UK   (05.25.12)
This is very old rhetoric & news... It is no secret that Israel occupies the Palestinian territories and thus controls everything that goes in and out. This ultimately means that Israel's currency, products and some services end up in the occupied territories.... this was pointed out in 2007 and does not reflect at all on the value of international solidarity or the impact BDS has on Israel from the International community. If Israel forces Palestinians to not have a choice in what they purchase then its obvious they will have to buys Israeli flour after all how else will they make bread?
20. PA prefers Israeli goods
Jerry ,   Monroe, NJ USA   (05.25.12)
I'm sure the minimarket owner in Bethlehem appreciates you quoting her by name so now she can be shut down or beaten. Not very bright.
21. No such thing as "Palesitnian Territories"
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (05.25.12)
Under law, these are "disputed territories", with both Israel and a supposedly nationalist movement called the PLO claiming ownership rights. The EU (including the UK), the US and other countries have been pouring money into the disputed territories for the so-called Palestinians (indistignuishable from other Arabs culturally, by religion, language or heritage) to build the infrastructure for a state, including industry, money that has been misused, embezzled or just plain disappeared into secret bank accounts offshore indtead of preparing the so-called Palestinian state for independence. Blame Palestinian leaders for the lack of competing products, not Israel...

did you realize that the man, your so called economic minister, ROB DAVIES IS A JEW? guess he is one non zionist to boot.
23. 16
(05.25.12)
great! make sure that, once these newly labeled products appear on your supermarket shelves, you buy them all. if it says west bank, buy them all! and encourage your friends to do the same. this will be a counter response to the travesty that rob davies instituted in south africa. this is the correct response.
24. @12 harold.
(05.25.12)
even the un general assembly and counsil declared last year that there is no country called palestine. you may have to wait forever.
25. 19
(05.25.12)
export and import into the west bank is allowed from egypt and jordan. israelis do not control that aspect of trade. they ALLOW IT! into the west bank. thus, the palestinians can always buy their flour and anything from egypt and jordan legally under israeli law. pure and simple. but these same palestinians WANT TO BUY ISRAELI GOOD NOT ONLY BECAUSE THEY ARE BETTER QUALITY, BUT, AS YOU HEARD FROM THIS ARTICLE, BECAUSE THEY ARE SAFER TO EAT AND THE PALESTINIANS KNOW THAT IF IT COMES FROM ARAB COUNTRIES, THERE CAN BE A DANGER IN EATING THESE SAME PRODUCTS SINCE ISRAEL REGULATES PRODUCT SAFETY MUCH BETTER.
26. There is no such a so-called Paletinine
Rachel ,   Civilized Country   (05.25.12)
why do Palestininans refere to the land that, they officially refused to accept the partition of the UN, other than what it is supposted to be called: Disputed Land that is. That's right, disputed land because that's what it is. You don't call a suit that u just tried on "your" suit unless you buy it and it becomes yours.

Gary Spedding ,   Belfast, UK   (05.26.12)
There is limited export and import from Jordan and as the West Bank does not share a border with Egypt it is less likely still to find egyptian products. I lived in the West Bank on and off over the last two years, Israel controls the borders and everything that goes in and out. You contradict your own logic when you state: "israelis do not control that aspect of trade. they ALLOW IT!" as this implies that Israel has to give approval which implies control which is exactly what I stated. Further to this there is the issue of economic viability and that most Palestinian convenience stores and supermarkets are not these big megastores that you find in Israel, Jordan or Egypt but actually locally owned shops - they have to in order to remain within their tiny budgets purchase the cheapest option which is almost always Israeli produce. It has nothing to do with the quality or safety of the foods - Again I know of several stores in the local town I stay in alone that do their trading with Israel because it is exceptionally cheap. Your entire argument there is an attempt to implicate that Arabic food sources aren't as clean as Israeli... racist much?
28. Reply to Gary
gelb   (05.27.12)
I simply don't believe you, bec. you say stupid things and transparently obvious BS! how can Israeli wares and products be cheap where in Israel people are almost revolting because of their outrageously high prices???!! Hah? Where is your logic in this? It seems you are not too hesitant to discard logic and common sense that stands in the way of hatred maybe and anti-Israel feeling/animus?
29. thank you, #27
jerusalem   (05.27.12)
We go through that here in East Jerusalem also. The other day another ynet article taking about reduction in tax if investing in an illegal israeli settlement, I wrote about on that same morning on my way to buy a canister of pringles, the store owner was explaining to me why the pringles that are made (and any other product for that matter) in Ramallah or PA territories are banned from these parts and moreover there is a fine for selling such products. Surprisingly (or rather, I shouldnt be surprised) my comment wasnt ultimately allowed for publication, but moving on to more important things, I will keep on boycotting (which, is infact as you write, difficult to do with all the restrictions, procedures, and policies that israel has waged against the Palestinian economy.

You don't have to believe me, however you should look into the basic economic facts. If I want to buy bread in Israel it is around 4 or 5 shekels in Bethlehem it is 2 shekels... Prices have gone up in parts of Israel this is undeniable however the main area where prices increased are in Tel Aviv and coastal areas. I also should have stated Relatively cheap so as to make my statement even more sucinct and accurate. No hatred here or anti-Israel feeling just stating facts. If you don't like the facts do the research yourself find contrary evidence and prove me wrong.
