1. UN member states and their representatives ought to...
Jehudah Ben-Israel ,   Qatzrin, Israel   (05.29.12)
...examine the UN Charter, Article 80, 1945, before making any move!! This article etches in stone the act by the League of Nations of 1922 - both of course part and parcel of international law - that the region of former "Palestine" - a territory, never a nationality or a state of course - located between the Jordan River and the Med. Sea is assigned to be "the national home for the Jewish people", and no other people will claim it as its national state. indeed, UN Security Council Resolution, 242, of 1967, takes into consideration this very fact and, while calling upon the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to retreat from territory captured during the June 1967 Six-Day War to "secure and recognized boundaries", it doesn't call for the setting up of an additional state between the Jordan River and the Med. Sea, and doesn't even make use of concepts such as "Palestinians" or "Palestine". If any of the UN agencies will pursue that which the Arabs of the region demand, they will do so contrary to the UN's own Charter!! Need we find more reasons to by cynical about the UN....??
2. Jehudah, #1, the UN stopped honoring its own
Geulah ,   Bar Giora, Israel   (05.29.12)
charter many years ago, by accepting the PLO to be an observer entity, while its leaders' hands are still stained in the blood of their Jewish victims.
3. If the "palestinians" are really interested
A ,   Belgium   (05.29.12)
in doing something for the environment, they could start by eliminating the excessive amounts of hot air that blow out of Ramallah, and cleaning up the environment called Israel and Yesha (which is one and the same anyway) by removing themselves. That would be a respectable beginning.
4. We should defund the despicable U.N.
Chaim ,   Israel   (05.29.12)
The world would be a much better place without the U.N. It does nothing except cater to terrorists and tyrants. We should defund the despicable U.N. It would be a great election issue for the U.S. Republicans because the U.N. is widely desised in America.
5. With the PA's ecology record...
M. Davison ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (05.30.12)
This would be a farce. Let them build the sewage treatment plant they've been putting off in the West Bank and another one in Gaza before they can even be considered. In Gaza, they've been pumping raw sewage into the Med for the past 10 years, while in the West Bank, they're doing their best to spoil the water tables with their sewage.
6. Barak is Right
Ron ,   OC US   (05.31.12)
Let the PA go their own way...Israel can easily say no to refugees, Jerusalem and 1967 borders and the PA can forget about land swaps. Israel can see to it that the PA stays demilitarized as well. I think that is all Israel can expect from negotiations that the PA will never agree to anyhow.
