another one of those that want to destroy Israel. When did streisand become Jewish? She did not want to come her to sing on Israel's 60th Independence Day. Notice how most of them are dems? This is how b.o. tries to win the Jewish vote.

Kissinger the man who almost destroyed Israel in 73 How fitting with one of his pet poodles Peres. Peres was the best man Kissinger and Carter had on thier team. In my opinion Peres is a traitor to Israel and only cares about the US and his own interest. He also sold out Pollard.

Smooz you can smooz with the best of them. I hear you recently told a Rabbi you catch Hear for you arabic name? Nah it's your Flagrent demeanor Twords Israel and The iranian threat.
6. Honoring Shimon Peres .
Leslie J Paldon ,   Waterloo Belgium   (05.31.12)
There is no doubt at all that Obama does this to gain Jewish votes . He could however have left out Carter. As far as Straisand , there is no question . She is Jewish.but not a friend of Israel . Altogether the act is a good thing , provided Obama releases Pollard at the at the same time.. Leslie Paldon Waterloo
7. Honoring Perets or mocking him?
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (05.31.12)
It's nice they're honoring a naive, yet committed peacenik who is responsible for letting murderous PLO terrorists into Israel just 10 years after hundreds of Israelis died expelling them from Lebanon. But Bush & Obama have ignored repeated pleas from Peres & others to release Pollard, who's sentence for a low level espionage crime was 10 times harsher than anyone for a similar crime has ever received.. So Peres will go to Washington like a dog with his tail between his legs & they will pat him on the head & say "good boy" . Make no mistake, the ONLY reason Obama is singling out Peres for a "special tribute" to get the Jewish vote. Peres, who I'm sure would like to see Obama reelected, since they both share the same vision is an embarrassment to Israel.
8. Bringing together "old friends"
arne ,   chicago usa   (05.31.12)
You've got old man Bush together with Slick Willie (who orchestrated the Oslo Accords) and old man Carter a "true friend of Israel"It's too bad they couldn't dig up Arafat for one last hand shake. Obama's the cutest guy--whom ever puts his "programs" together are one great team
9. Why Streisand?
NYC Girl   (05.31.12)
Somebody like Natalie Portman would have been a more appropriate choice.

Separating out Peres, in theory, I have no objection to. But it is meant blatantly to help solidify Jewish votes in November. Every liberal Hollywood Jew is chomping at the bit for an invite--might depend on how much is contributed to the campaign. Will Romney, John Voight, Sean Hannity, John Bolton, Charles Krauthammer, Mike Huckabee, et al. be there? They are fast friends of Israel but couldn't get past the guard house at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave --just yet anyway. Wait until 2013...at least that's a sincere wish under a Romney administration.

12. Honoring Peres for what? For being too old?
Avi ,   Israel   (06.01.12)
13. Sad without Pollard release
Eric L ,   Chicago, USA   (06.01.12)
I had really hoped Peres would have pressed the horrible US double standards against Israel with Jonathan Pollard still in jail.
14. Carter? Kissinger? Obama?
Reuven   (06.02.12)
These are not friends of Israel.
15. Let's Be Real

Yes, this may be an attempt to buy votes and money from Jewsih Democrats, but let's not belittle the contribution of Peres to Israel--He was the man who helped to create Israel's arms industry and pursue Dimona with the French. He has helped greatly in the important PR war which some would prefer to think doesn't matter. Disagreements with him may be wide, but he still deserves this honor which reflects support to the State of Israel as well-Bravo!
