Would these rabbis like their physicians to stop using the internet too? Is their form of Judaism so fragile that knowledge of the outside world would cause Haredi belief to crumble? i know through working in williamsburg that the percentage of hasiddim smoking is low now, probably lower than that in the US in general. i know that the yeshivas and batei midrash prohibit it.

My daughter uses the internet for her work selling advertising. She keeps the computer in her bedroom and uses a password. She woke up one night to find her teenage son in her bedroom using her internet to access porn. Just as most haredi schools do not accept children from homes with t.v., they don't want children with access to internet because it is potentially so dangerous. When we have good enough filters our view may change.

There was a case here in the UK last week of a 12 year old boy who raped a nine year old girl because he had access to hard core porn over a lonmg period of time and he thought this was what men do. The judge should have put the parents in prison. Which parents want their children to have acces to immorality?

In Israel we have two kind of people with extreme opinions.Those who are disconnected from internet,and those who are disconnected from G-D. If we don t reject them, but show them understanding ,sympathy and warmth,they might slowly move towards the Golden Middleway.
