1. don't mind the guns, we've got term papers
SG ,   Teaneck   (06.05.12)
2. look closer to home
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.05.12)
The attitudes and beliefs Dr. Gerstenfeld says the "antisemites" have about Jews, are exactly the attitudes and beliefs Jewish Leftists have about Zionists, Settlers and Haredim.
3. Jews really do not need Europe
David ,   USA   (06.05.12)
Jews and ISrael are much loved in the USA. Europe is again scapegoating Jews for it''s massive economic situation. Does anybody really care what a Dino-fossil called Europe thinks?? Seems that both the left and right wings of Europe are attacking ISrael.
4. Neo-Nazi march in AThens
David ,   USA   (06.05.12)
ARe you kidding me??? I hope it is only a small group of people. Greeks are on utter economic collapse and their solution is a neo-nazi march. And ISrael is trying to make friends with these people. Israel is still has strong friends in the USA, India and some of the Eastern European Block.
5. Being considered evil
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (06.05.12)
By racists and supporters of terrorists in not a bad thing at all. I would be more worried if they liked us. To be hated by those that are evil is an badge of honor, not a disgrace.
6. jews
Mike ,   Uk   (06.05.12)
Jews in many ways foster antisemitism. The most apparent expression is that the jews need to separate themselves from the non-jew. For example, here in London, separate security, separate amabulances. Shockingly, I attended with my son a Scout camp recently, some jews have separate scout groups, ie only for jews. This form of exclusivety, separate schools, restaurants, conversions etc adds to the antipathy and it is getting worse.
7. Pathetic
Helder Vieira ,   Porto, Portugal   (06.05.12)
This permanent victimization is simply ridiculous, nowadays. There is only one question here, apartheid. European citizens do have an increasing difficulty excusing and supporting an apartheid state, strictly based on a racist legacy that Europe itself has been trying to overcome for decades, as a remnant of an obscene past. And one would expect that the european jews would be in the first line defending a return to the 67 lines and the formation of a palestinian state. Instead, they chose the opposite track. So what do they expect ?... Cheers ? Put your feet back on the ground, drop the 'anti-semitism' idiocy and do something serious for a change.

9. To #7 Pathetic?
marucho ,   Bs.Aires - Argentina   (06.05.12)
Helder dear, we jews don´t victimize anymore. We were practically led to our extermination in Europe because of the protection that broad-minded people like you promised us. No, we don´t victimize anymore, we have learnt to protect and defend ourselves, and fight for our lives, especially from such tolerant people like you. As for the poor arabs that live in Israel, I have seen them very happy and healthy and especially free to say whatever they want. Have you ever met just one israeli arab and asked him if he wanted to live in some other neigbour arab country to have a better life than that offered by genocidal and racist Israel? By the way, have you ever met a jew in your life? For your information, we do not wear horns, nor long devilish tails, nor snake teeth. We are just human beings who look like any other human beings, and intend to live our lives in peace and tolerance. We are a people that drag a long and pathetic history on its shoulders due to your ancestors, so why shouldn´t we worry about what is happening in Europe today? Your records show us we must really worry about your european societies´ deeds. Our deeds show that neither you, merciful europeans, nor the poor arabs living with or around us, have nothing to be afraid of. We do not bite if we are not attacked.
10. israel/jews as leaders of free world
david ,   new york   (06.05.12)
the opposite of love is not hate, its indifference. israel has a huge opportunity should it have leadership willing to exploit it: israel can be the leader of the free world, through speaking against our common enemies and global outreach, much like the US did during the cold war (think american university/peace corps, radio free europe etc). now the US has obama and israel can step into the void. it will find a large number of people the world over who will support it and rally behind it. unfortunately, most of the israeli leaders have been too provincial to even consider this. netanyahu and lieberman have some thoughts of this, but then they do psychotic things like releasing terrorists and expelling jews. in order to send a clear message, you must not compromise on your views. if you dont believe in yourself, how can you ask anyone else to?
11. You seem to be convinced that the whole world hates you...
Z. ,   Poland   (06.05.12)
...but the truth is way different and much more complicated. My homeland is considered as one of the most anti-Semitic countries. Sadly, I cannot deny the existence of anti-Semitism. It is alive and well (from hate speech to destruction of Jewish cementaries...) It doesn't mean, however, that such behaviour is fully accepted, nor does it represent the view of the majority of the nation. The unjustified hatred is a result of the right-wing's deep-rooted belief that Jews rule the country and control their lives. There aren't many actual neo-Nazis. Anyway... My point is, that there are also many Philo-Semites in Poland (such as myself), as well as groups and organisations which support Israel and/or Jews in general. What's more, the chief Rabbi of Poland has recently described my country as a great place for Jews to live. (On a side note: critisism of Israeli policy DOES NOT mean being anti-Semitic... I know some pro-Palestinian activists who can be called anything but Anti-Semitic. Believe me or not, some people are aware of the wrong-doing of both sides of the conflict without hating either)
12. What Rubbish
Paul ,   South Africa   (06.05.12)
There is far more anti-muslim sentiment in christian europe than anti-Jewish. Just speak honestly to the ordinary European in the street & see. Please enough self pity, have some pride being Jewish. Its not a curse, but an honour.

14. Europe is going down the drain. Guess who they blame?
Chaim ,   Israel   (06.05.12)
Given Europe's 2,000 year history of persecuting Jews and bowing before tyrants, there is nothing surprising in the upsurge in European Jew hatred. Most European states are either bankrupt or well on their way to bankrupcy. Moslems are not so slowly taking over Europe. In a nutshell, Europe is going down the drain. Guess who they blame? Jews. Who else?
15. Europeans?
Albrecht Klein ,   Germany   (06.05.12)
You mean immigrants from diverse Islamic countries. Those are definitely no Europeans.
16. In Britain Jew at school was an Insult
Sami ,   New York, USA   (06.05.12)
In Britain Jew at school was an Insult.
17. Europeans are Primitive
Laila ,   Montreal, Canada   (06.05.12)
Europeans are Primitive like their ancestors in the Middle Ages.
18. Portugal
Naftali   (06.05.12)
I love when people from Spain and Portugal preach to us about human rights, since they know so much about genocide. They also know very well how to burn Jews and expel them. Has Portugal ever even apologized and made restitution? It's because of people like you Mr. Viera, that I am thrilled we have our state.
19. Western Europe
Dave Cannon ,   Rutland USA   (06.05.12)
Thats what we would expect The Islamic Republic of Western Europe to be calling Israel. Israel knows western Europe is the enemy.
20. Get your facts straight Helder
DAvid   (06.05.12)
Remember it was the Pales. who walked out of Camp David in 2000 or so. Israel agreed to massive concessions under President Clinton and the Pales refused to budge on anything. I know your media is very biased so maybe you should check other sources for your information. pal.
21. #6:Say it ain't so Mike! But you're from UK,so unfortunately
tom ,   tel aviv   (06.05.12)
you certainly do believe what you're saying here. To try and enlighten you would take years of teaching you first and foremost, to use the brain nature gave you. Judging from your thought-process it ain't first class but still: it sure is better than witnessed by the moronic logic you exhibt here. Mike, all is not lost yet. Stop reading the newspapers/watching the channels you do and get you hands on publications that report the truth. BBC/Guardian are NOT one of them!
22. Sadly, this is so true...
mjkj ,   Germany   (06.05.12)
Sadly, this is so true... @David the US are really not that much better - they already turn their back to Israel - I believe in about 5 years they have caught up to Europe...
23. Apartheid State? You must be special.
anon ,   israel   (06.05.12)
a·part·heid/əˈpärtˌ(h)āt/ Noun: A policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race. Segregation in other contexts. But we have Arabs who hate Israel in our Knesset with as much rights as any other person, we have the highest immigration rate and a country where all is legally equal. Please go find me this in the judicial system in Portugal or any other country in Europe. Would love to know how the rights of your immigrants are doing!
24. #6 MIKE ,FOR YOUR INFORMATION
DA URBAN POET ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (06.05.12)
"A people who shall dwell alone " is how the holy Torah , or Bible ,describes the jewish people .The Almighty one intended us to be seperate .Don't like it ? well that's YOUR problem mate.
25. not entirely true
Paul ,   UK/Israel   (06.05.12)
It seems that Ynet is on a propaganda trip to increase the gap between Israel and Europe (and US). There are Nazis everywhere on the planet. must be some kind of desease. But the constant articles about the demonisation of israel in europe is just not entirely true e.g. the austrian ministers remark last week was not at all antisemitic but only a critique on the government. but ynet decides to play the anti semitic card. very disturbing and devaluating. what I hear from my connection in different european countries, Israel is actually very much in favour of most people. there are always stupid palestinian activists and nazis and that is all that is reported. Why don't you (YNet) report some of the good things e.g the recent international condemnation and information day of the holocaust in mid europe ? or the great integration of the well respected jewish community in london? If I were only to read what is reported here i would hate europe but gladly it is not the truth. I invite all Ynet readers to spread your reading equally to get both sides which is surely enough equally biased but at least one gets a different perspective..... This is getting to obvious now ....
26. Mr. Gerstenfeld, that motiv is OLD...you
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (06.05.12)
can find it in Johns Gospel and in Johns Apocalypse... In the Gospel the Jews were referred to, as the children of the devil and in the Apocalypse the synagogue is called the synagogue of satan... And since it's foundation in 1948, the Jewish state has become the symbol of the Jews...the eternally wandering Jew has since then became a sitting duck to his enemies... All the manifestations of sick Jew hatred are the consequences of the alleged deicide and merely the symptoms of that primary infection... But one thing is for sure: IT WOULD BE A DISASTER, to weaken the identity of Israel as to be the Jewish state and a safe haven for all the Jews worldwide !
27. at 7.
Gabriel ,   Leiden, Netherlands   (06.05.12)
Really? I do doubt that you are aware of the definition of ''apartheid''. It's a Dutch word, actually. It means ''separateness.'' So my question for you is: how can you possibly define Israeli society, where Arabs enjoy full civil and legal liberties, as an ''Apartheid''-State? How does this compare with the situation in South-Africa at the time? Your whole post is one riddled with inaccuracies, which are, I believe, the result of the moral confusion running rampant in European society (and I am being kind on this one). I won't go into them right now, as I am really tired of trying to enlight people who are not willing to listen to reason, but if you could satisfactory answer my two questions above, I would be truly amazed. Not that I expect you to go into this any further. Dropping charges is so easy compared to defending them.
28. To Helder Vieira , Porto, Portugal, # 7
FO ,   Belgium   (06.05.12)
I read your post and I am convinced your are a sincere and honest person. Unfortunately as I can see, you are not in full possession of the necessary historical data to judge the actual political situation, and it is not your fault at all. It is not my intention, surely not trough a talkback to give you a lecture about this subject. Just allow me to tell you a few things. After the first world war, the American President, Woodrow Wilson, an idealist and opponent of colonialism, pushed after the collapse of the Turkish Empire, for the creation in the Middle-East, of three new states: Irak, Syria-Lebanon, and a Jewish State in Palestine. The 24th of July 1922, the League of Nations, composed of 51 members (including Portugal, if I am right) voted unanimously in favour of the "Jewish National Home" to become the Jewish State, in the area between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River, including the Golan Height. This became International Law, valid to this day, and reaffirmed by article 80 of the Charter of the United Nations.Even UN Resolution 242, if you know what I am speaking about, the resolution that became the cornerstone of diplomacy in the Middle-East, is fully based on the League's resolutions, called the "Mandate for Palestine". If you want to learn more, read the article written by Eugene Rostow, the author Resolution 242: "The Future of Palestine".

I think Israel is doing something serious - it is booming economically (Europeans will say it is because of the US aid, which is in fact just 2% of GDP, but don't let a good libel go away), unlike Portugal and most of Europe which is just ageing, low-birthrateing, taxing and indebting its way to insignificance.
