The Druze community has requested the Israeli government to recognise the Druze as a nationality distinct from Arabs. We ought to respect their wishes. I haven't heard before that the Druze trace their ancestry specifically to Arab tribes.

Druze in Israel are an extention of the larges Druze community existing in Lebannon and Syria. No where in the world were the Druze as independant as the Druze of Lebannon where they basically had their own militia and political party led by Walid Jumblat. Actually, Druze are a separate ethnicity and are not Arabs, even genetic studies confirms this. Druze are genetically very close to Jews. They likely have part Israelite origins.
