1. Do you all understand what Lindenstrauss is really saying...
Patriotic Israeli ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (06.13.12)
That NOT ENOUGH force was used to protect our soldiers. Good report!
2. Bibi and his limitations
Edgar ,   Rehovot , Israel   (06.13.12)
Maximum ok for the ministry of finance, provided Fischer is around to do the decision making. As his late father already pointed out Bibi is not really fit to lead Israel.
3. What a hip of ...
Jules   (06.13.12)
... unnecessary words. The Shayetet-13 commander could have made the decision to arrest all the "passengers", and shoot anyone who resisted. There was no need to get the PM, the DM or any other official involved. It was just a bunch of intruders, so why so much hassle ?
4. If "the defense establishment ...
Yossef   (06.13.12)
... was not aware of the magnitude of risks" they must be fired. They have no reason to be there. We need aware people at this position.
5. complete isolation
bill ,   canada   (06.13.12)
the clowns israelis call leaders have completely isolated israel now; that was their plan and it worked
6. Excellent Report
john   (06.13.12)
Stupid decision to equip brave commando fighters with paint ball guns. The defense establishment should have been well aware those on board the Turkish boat are more then likely are Islamists and hell bent to break a legally held blockade. This should have been viewed as an act of war committed by Turkey.
7. Tunnel vision and inability to visualize the future are.....
G-d forbid.... ,   Israel   (06.13.12)
serious leadership problems inIsrael. Wait until they give a way Judea & Samaria and then find rockets or worse landing daily in Tel Aviv.... Or Iranian foot soldiers marching straight into Jerusalem via Syria or Jordan....
8. It's a pattern
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.13.12)
Yesterday, Netanyahu and Barak fired a combat soldier for firing a warning shot at Leftist rioters. Netanyahu and Barak sacrificied Lt. Col. Eisner because he dared defend himself against a Leftist who attacked him. On the Marmara, Netanyahu and Barak sent Shayetet exposed and open to attack because they did not want to appear as confronting the Leftists on board. Now two soldiers are permanently handicapped. It's a pattern: for Netanyahu and Barak, IDF soldiers are expendable.
9. Whonis Lindenstrauss and what are his goals?
r ,   Atlanta   (06.13.12)
10. Lindenstrauss v. E. Barack.....
Buskila ,   South America   (06.13.12)
and the established establishment. Far from praising Mr.Limdenstrauss as a personality, but the imminent function (s) he is suppose to discharge as G.A is(are)at stake. And here is again the culprit, the greatest 'threat' to Israel hasbara of any kind at any level: in the name of Defence Ministry (with connivance of the PM) Barack who seems to have an uncanny ability to shoot down any positive State action, with his dictatorial caracteristics. Suffice to see the guy in the small screen trying to explain an Israeli position, and you might think the person speaking belongs to some sort of a sect. His attitude, his choice of words, and his body language makes the viewer unconfortable. Though Lindenstrauss should have issued his very defyant reports a year ago, now with his imminent resignation, the whole thing might be stained with partisanship odors....especially in light with his public confrontation with Weinstein. What a messy state...of affairs.
11. Bibi did the right thing!
nadav ,   tlv   (06.13.12)
The report is being contorted by the leftist media, as expected, to make it seem that the PM and the Defense ministry failed. That is clearly not these. The report only gives constructive criticism on how to react better in the future, which ok since there is always room for improvement.
12. Putsch
michael Pielet ,   israel   (06.13.12)
I get it , the comptroller is going to run the army. Just like the high court runs the country. This is a ridiculous leftist putsch.
13. Does anybody ever take notice of the
DT ,   TA Israel   (06.13.12)
Comptroller or do anything about his reports ?. Another "pine forest" felled for nought.
14. defense was not aware
marcel   (06.13.12)
defense was not aware of the risks posed by the passengers!! What are you- a bunch of shmucks??!! You assume the worst that the passengers could get violent and you use suppression techniques before landing commando and have other commando covering the deck in case of large gang attack against rappellers. That barak did not anticipate shows that he is disconnected just as during the carmel fire. Bibi delegated the mission while he was in the US showing how limited he is to place his trust in barak who is now on the downside of his career. Fire him!
15. #1 - No!
Eric ,   Torono   (06.13.12)
What he is saying is that if proper procedures were used prior to the flotilla's departure, it could have been stopped from sailing or stopped before getting into Israeli proximity.
16. Israel confronted the flotilla correctly except..
Shep Fargotstein ,   Memphis, TN - USA   (06.13.12)
except for the fact they weren't aggressive enough to use overwhelming force, which may have prevented injury to both the soldiers and rioters. The fact that the soldiers were outnumbered encouraged the crowd to riot, Had they been overwhelmed,l the outcome may have been different. With that said, you haven't seen any more flotillas, so I guess the mission was accomplished.
17. International Outrage because Jews Defended themselves
Linda Rivera ,   New York, USA   (06.13.12)
from violent Muslim attackers. What a sick, EVIL world we live in.
18. Leftist Propaganda
ACortez ,   Anaheim, CA, USA   (06.13.12)
Not one Israeli soldier died and those civilians that were killed deserved it. Sure Bibi could've instructed soldiers to shoot first and ask questions later but ultimately he did the right thing. Bibi is the strongest leader Israel has had in quite some time. Time for the Jews to make their stand before the world and let everybody know that Israel will not be taken from their people again. God bless Bibi, his country and those who will stand by his side.
19. Lindenstrauss
david ,   montreal, canada   (06.13.12)
BLA, BLA,BLA ! The flotilla had a fair warming, maybe next time get Lindenstrauss to stop them.
20. Danger of Overreation
ScottB ,   Boston, MA USA   (06.13.12)
I have not read the report, which, as described, seems thoughtful and constructive. However, I would be concerned if every threatened provocation required mobilization of the full Cabinet to discuss. To do so would be to give in to agitators. With the benefit of hindsight, better planning would have been helpful, but the threat of a flotila is hardly the equivalent of the events that gave rise to the Second Lebanon War.
21. #5 bill be happy dont warry with love israel
miriam ,   israel   (06.13.12)
22. İsrael is on the wrong way
kuzeykan ,   Turkey   (06.13.12)
İsrael politicians think only today, not tomorrow, not future...After then İsraeli newspaper publish articles why antisemitizm escalating eveywhere ...Why..because of İsrael state politics..İn the world, all country ,there are civil proesto with fighting police ..Police use tear gas etc..Not heavy weapon to civilian..Now Turkish people think only İsrael state is enemy of Turkish state, not jewish people...After 10-20 years later, All turkish people will be thinking as İsrail and jewish people enemy of Turkish nation..We will see that two nation, jewish and turks everywhere act against each other..İsrael needs friends, not new enemy..if dont cure this incident, it will turn a gangrene..
23. Lee Kaplan warned govt & gave names and details
Tracy W   (06.13.12)
Investigative Journalist Lee Kaplan (Stop the ISM) met with government officials ahead of time and gave the government the names of the Marmara crew and their links to terror. Kaplan later reported that the government did not seem interested and even resented that an American dared to give them advice. As a matter of fact, Lee Kaplan met with government officials prior to each of the many flotillas that arrived in Israel, gave them important information, but he always met with the same strange indifference. There are many ways to remotely disable a ship and tow it to port. The government did not avail itself of these options and sent a small group of commandos armed with paint guns instead.
24. cheap shot
Scott ,   Ramat Gan, Israel   (06.13.12)
This was a political cheap shot ant Bibi. He's not required to convene a knesset session to deal with terrorists or Islamists trying to aid terrorists
25. #22 - Kuzeykan, have you been sleeping?
Maurice ,   Montreal   (06.13.12)
You say in terrible English: "..İn the world, all country ,there are civil protesto with fighting police ..Police use tear gas etc..Not heavy weapon to civilian.." Have you checked lately what is going on in Syria? So, you don't call that using heavy weapons on civilians? And in the case of Israel, the IDF never uses its force against its civilian population, but only against terrorists like the IHH! Your comment show that your have anti-Israel bias!
26. #8 soldiers permanently handicapped?
Aviva ,   Israel   (06.13.12)
I did not know that and it's just too sad to imagine. Seriously handicapped? (It's sad either way but still....)
27. Transparency Vs Obstinancy
Jay ,   rockville,USA   (06.13.12)
It's old and correct news Israel was Careless ! Israel contacted and briefly Erdogan was contacted before the Flotilla asking that it be not be allowed to depart and his response was that the Mamara was a boat owned by a Private Co not the Turkish Govt so therefore he "couldn't ,wouldn't , shouldn't"get involved". Erdogan couldn't wait to have the UN declare the Bockade,Illegal and when that didn't happen he disavowed it out of hand. Nentanyahu offered regrets and money while Turkey offers nothing but more bluster and denial 'cause Erdogan likes things as they are while he appears to be auditioning for CEO of Ottoman Empire II. There should be a Mutual Apology which would no doubt occur if Erdogan was interested. Turkey and Hamas want to use Israel's "Transparency" (which they continue to demonstrate no use for) to indict Israelis for trial at the Hague. I f they did they'd need a special "Flotilla" to ship all indictees to the Hague.
28. Haniyeh...?!
solomon ,   bklyn   (06.13.12)
Haniyeh says Israel commits crimes against humanity?! What garbage. His main complaint is that he would like to but can’t; except for crimes against his own people.
29. When you're in a hole...
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (06.13.12)
...stop digging! What on earth has been the point of this? The facts have already been raked over time and time again and people simply believe what they want to believe and read everything in ways that suit them. This new report adds nothing but it keeps the pot boiling. Don't Israel's politicians know when it's time to shut up? THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
30. The new important information
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (06.13.12)
The only thing of importance in his report is that we learn that Turkey's Prime Minister was approached at a high level, asked to prevent the flotilla leaving Turkey....but he refused. It seems that Erdogan was DETERMINED to cause mischief for Israel. So much for Israel's 'ally'. How about a report into ERDOGAN's filthy role in this affair? THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
