31. Just keep cars from ultra religious neighborhoods on Shabbos
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.17.12)
and let them have their free exercise of religion just as other people can drive on other streets in Jerusalem on Shabbos. Somehow some people believe that their freedom exists only if they piss on the religious on Shabbos, let them go elsewhere, away from people who love Hashem.
32. more power to the chareidim
heshy ,   brooklyn new york   (06.17.12)
Without the chareidim there would be no Judaism left in Israel or the United states. Their high birth rate keeps us from disapearing from this earth. The non charedi Jews are going lost through assimilation, intermarriage and just turning into homosexuals or not marrying.
33. #25 see #27!

34. Haredim protest 'Shabbat desecration
connie mack ,   Camden   (06.17.12)
You wrote: "One of the protesters also threw a soda can at one of the secular women." Who decided that the victim was "secular"? On what criteria did she/he base that identification? Your integrity is severely compromised when you make , accept or print frivolously arbitrary declarations about other peoples' religious commitments and affiliations. Did you ask the woman whether she is indeed secular? It is bad enough that you take the liberty to call hooligans dressed in long black coats "Haredim". Dear readers: In your opinion, what must a person do or believe in order to deserve the title "secular"?
35. @29 I understand ur question...
(06.17.12)
I am not going to answer it but I am going to ask you to bear in mind that in Israel the way one dresses goes a very long way in defining (to some who only see superficial styles) what lifestyle one leads. This in my opinion is not correct! But it is what it is
36. @31 I just "love it" when u solve our problems from afar!
Israeli ,   Israel   (06.17.12)
Wouldn't it be a far, far better thing if... instead of preaching to us from afar you'd come and live here?!
37. YNET ignores huge arab riot in Hevron; attack on Jews
Daniel ,   Formerly Israel   (06.17.12)
While making a few Haredi wackos protesting in Jerusalem a top story
38. I don't understand
Ezra ,   sandiego   (06.17.12)
I don't understand why many seculars seem to have the personal goal of stripping Israel of everything Jewish. Even Shabbat is too much for them to acknowledge. I don't see the point to their living in Israel, the only Jewish place in the world.
39. @36 I am coming, making aliyah, happy now? I'm training my
Bunnie Meyer ,   Los Angeles, CA USA   (06.17.12)
deceased partner to take over the business we had as I have a love for Israel and no lover for american, the country now owned by illegal aliens thanks to american politicians.
40. like Taliban
josh   (06.17.12)
No different in their extremism then the Taliban. I'd love to see them try to attack an IDF special opps guy who is on leave, and might respond rather unpleasantly to such an attack.
41. police brutality
Ephraim ,   Tapuah   (06.17.12)
also no mention of high level of violence that police used against a peaceful protest, forcing the haredim to throw stones in response
42. I understand completely!
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (06.17.12)
Riots, destruction, stone throwing, etc... This is what happens, when a human life has no purpose. No job, no profession, no education, no meaning. The result? Hooliganism! The average Israeli works for a living, serves the country, pays taxes. A contributing member of society. Life has purpose. These "Charedim", live on welfare, and fail to contribute to the country they rely upon for sustenance. Not so deep down, they feel inferior, useless and impotent. Fueled by feelings of inferiority, they strike out, against those they rely upon for bread. The solution is simple. Require them to serve and work, just like everybody else. These ridiculous antics will cease, once their lives gain some meaning.
43. # 2 , Not completely correct
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.17.12)
Some of those you mention don't take money from the State . Some are even visiting this Shoa denier in Iran . But all of them , all the charidim , want to IMPOSE their way of "life" [ if you can call this life ] on everyone in OUR country . You don't hear many voices from the great rabbanim who condemn those violent actions . Here we have even some who don't believe those incidents occured , that Ynet is telling lies . They have'nt seen it on TV of course . But sht , be silent , it's "charidi bashing" if you tell the truth .
44. Haredim protest 'Shabbat desecration
connie mack ,   Camden   (06.17.12)
#35, thank you. More than 150,000, adult, voting and draft age non – observant Jews living in Israel are profoundly hurt and personally insulted when they are labled secular, or even referred to as such. Do you or any other readers know dozens such residents? I met many in IDF, in University and in the commercial centers of Israeli business and industry. Think about it and respond, please, with agreement or contradictory evidence. Again, thank you, cm
45. Haredei borde teens ? time to draft them
Haim ,   TA   (06.17.12)
Quite obviously these haredi thugs have to much time and energy on their hands, which isnt surprising since they dont work, pay taxes or serve in the IDF. Time to cut their social security and draft the lot of them.
46. # 32 Ground control to Hershey
Haim ,   TA   (06.17.12)
News flash, if the harideem increase there wont be any state of Israel, they dont work, dont pay taxes and dont serve in the army, they dont respect the law , they attach non religious people, they are a bunch of unruley degenerates, so i agree better off without them so the hard working people of this country can get on with their lives in peace., BTW im gay ! got a problem with that buddy ?
47. 42 and 43
josh   (06.17.12)
They are correct. The Haredi curse Israel, they even desecrate Yad va Shem, yet they rely for their welfare payments upon the very secular they curse.
48. Ezra , 38 . You don't understand ?
(06.17.12)
For seculars Shabbat is a day where they can enjoy the beach , visit family , friends , places . What is Jewish for you ? sitting in a synagogue and praying ? Many of those who are Jewish , by your definition , even OPPOSED the creation of the modern State of Israel Israel is our HISTORICALL Home , and mostly seculars , if not antireligious , gave their blood for the rebirth of OUR Country
49. Haredim protest 'Shabbat desecration
connie mack ,   Camden   (06.17.12)
#35, thank you. More than 150,000, adult, voting and draft age non – observant Jews living in Israel are profoundly hurt and personally insulted when they are labeled secular, or even referred to as such. Do you or any other readers know dozens such residents? I met many in IDF, in University and in the commercial centers of Israeli business and industry. 50. All that has been stated and opined
Sagi   (06.17.12)
here is irrelevant and has no meaning or use whatsoever. These folk as useless, redundant and a drain on society. They serve no purpose whatsoever and are quite disgusting. Avoiding them like the plague is the proper attitude.
51. Forgot my name in # 48
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.17.12)
52. Headline should be Eda Haredit not Haredim
rebecca ,   Modiin   (06.17.12)
It's incitement to label all the Haredim as these nut jobs. Even the article, close to the end, speaks of it being "a small group". And that small group should be thrown out of Israel.
53. Haredi Shabbat protest
Floriane ,   Israel   (06.17.12)
Far from being Haredi, and founding them outrageous, however I do believe that Israel is becoming more and more secular. As an ola hadasha I am sad and disappointed of little Jewish Spirit remains in Israël . Not a geat différence with the diaspora! Jérusalem is the only Town where I feel Jewish !
54. Business managing from the Beyond
Latter-Day Prophet ,   Far side of Moon   (06.17.12)
Bunnie M. (# 39), how are you going about training a deceased person? I'm ready to believe, but even if it's working, how will that person manage your shop in a disembodied state? It can be done, but the complications are endless. Besides, as my deceased grandfather, a Theosophist, used to warn, one mustn't invoke the deceased because they're at rest and taking stock of the lessons they were supposed to have learned, so let me suggest you release your former partner and hire someone who's still with us. Remember the complaint of the dead king: "Why do you disturb me?" Moreover, if you're an observant Jew then spiritism is trefa.
55. These haridim are anti Israel
Leo bit ,   London   (06.17.12)
If they hate normal Israelis and the states policy they should leave!!. You can't imagine them doing this in Europe we are not in a premitive age. We are morden with freedom don't impose your extrem views on the normal working class Israeli.
56. #38
peakman ,   brooklyn   (06.17.12)
to problem is that you think you are the arbitrator of what defines Judaism most Jews do not define Judaism the way you do. Therefore, they can have a Jewish state without your rules and interpretation of Torah
57. Some of those you mention don't take money from the State .
peakman ,   brooklyn   (06.17.12)
to #43 that is the big lie they like to tell everybody when they go to the hospital do they pay or take the service for free like everybody else? do they enjoy the protect of the IDF from enemies? do they take buses that are subsidized by taxes? since the answer is yes they do, then they take a lot and give nothing
58. Peakman . Taking money means
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.17.12)
receiving money on your bank account . To receive "free hospital" you have to pay " mas briout" . Health insurance . And also be affiliated to a "kupat Cholim" . They take "subsidised" buses , yes . I do it also when possible . And i'm NOT religious at all . Is enjoying protection from the IDF taking money ? All Israeli inhabitants , even the most anti Israel , enjoy this defense . And , i'll be the last one to defend them . I only try to defend the TRUTH .
59. #38, Think "Jewish" without religion. Be with the majority.
Michael ,   California, USA   (06.17.12)
60. #58
Jo Jo ,   London   (06.18.12)
"All Israeli inhabitants, even the most anti Israel , enjoy this defense " The anti-Israel would prefer to live at peace with the Arabs, than have to live in a constant state of war for the past 60 years and a further 20,000 Jews dead after the Holocaust because of defending this amazing "state" of the secular. The yishuv did not want Jewish control over the land. Therefore why should they have to join the army? Residents of Meah Shearim have already said if Jerusalem is divided, they wish to become part of the Arab state. Good for them. Away from the Zionists who profane the holy city of Jerusalem and force their godless way of life on the religious who were living there centuries before them. Jerusalem was once peaceful on the Sabbath – until the militant Zionists came are destroyed everything, coercing the hardeim into a hedonist lifestyle.
