the current outbreak of qassams in the south does not make sense. hamas doesn't need a fight, and they will be in a much stronger position once the moslem brotherhood takes over in egypt. so why have they provoked this round of fighting? (yes, they did provoke it. and for the first time, it was THEIR groups that took "credit" for the rocket attacks.) it would seem that their iranian masters need a diversion, since the nuclear talks aren't going so well, and it doesn't look like the sanctions will be lifted any time soon. so they have decided to use the more expendable of their proxies to stir up a little trouble for israel. (it looks like they're saving hezbollah for the full-scale confrontation with israel.) unfortunately, this means death and suffering for civilians on both sides, as we have just seen. hopefully israel will downplay the clashes, and focus attention instead on iran's illegal and dangerous nuclear weapons programme.

the middle east is not "at the boiling point". yes, obama doesn't have clue about the middle east, but then neither did george w. and there is no real danger of "a regional explosion", because neither egypt's nor jordan's army are in the mood for a futile war. and neither lebanon nor syria would contemplate a real war with israel while the civil war is raging in syria. (even nasrallah has admitted that the last lebanese war was a "mistake". attacking israel while his supply lines through syria are insecure would be an even bigger mistake.) which doesn't rule out the possibility that assad may, out of desperation, fire rockets into northern israel, but that will most probably end the way that saddam hussein's "desperation attack" did in '91. this isn't about ulpana or all your other perceived "grievances" against the government. and all your apocalyptic predictions are pointed in the wrong direction. this is about iran and its nuclear programme, which could cause a real "regional exlposion".
