1. Alice Walker
graczek ,   Maryland, USA   (06.20.12)
It is most refreshing to see a person of such note and fame leading, from America, the struggle to free the Holy Land of Palestine from the tyrannical Zionist grip. More power to her! BDS!!!
2. slavery denial
zivron   (06.20.12)
The arabs deny the holocaust what if we deny the brutality of slavery and name it gulag reeducation for false consciousness.
3. Why Kowtow
The Prophetess ,   SC, USA   (06.20.12)
Why even kowtow to this mid-grade writer who earned accolades from the PC literati simply because she's Black. Ms. Walker and Her Abundantly Large Ego can take a flying leap.
4. Ms. Walker
R ,   Israel   (06.20.12)
It's a pity that Ms. Walker fails to educate herself and prefers to jump on the bandwagon of libeling Israel, She has never been here and yet allows herself to condemn an entire people. Since Jews and Arabs in Israel share medical facilities, shop in the same malls, eat at the same restaurants, work together, etc., her claims are false. Check this out: http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7340,L-4211584,00.html One more thing: Boycotts can work two ways, Ms. Walker.
5. The purple color
Jorge ,   Israel/USA/Argentina   (06.20.12)
Thank you for telling me that you will not translate in Hebrew because you are an Antisemitic person. That saves me to read garbage that may contain harmful to my knowlegde
6. Waahh Waahh
Yoni in Yerushalayim ,   Jerusalem   (06.20.12)
Oh, boo-hoo. That's the sound of me weeping uncontrollably because I won't be able to read your book in Hebrew. Alice you are an idiot!
7. Revolting Behavior
Avramele   (06.20.12)
Walker's action does not strike out at Israeli policy but marginalizes every Hebrew speaking individual. A writer who so eloquently humanized her own people now attempts to make invisible mine. She should be ashamed of herself and the disgrace she has brought to herself and the traditions of open exploration and discussion. There is no "on the other hand" in regard to this kind of behavior.
8. ALICE WALKER
Ron ,   New York   (06.20.12)
I just don't get her logic. Here is an author who writes a fabulous book on social injustice and struggle. She then does not want it read by people who she ( wrongfully) perceives as needing their consciousness raised. Perhaps she should look to social injustice, especially to women, where she loves to sell her books.
9. Arabic Translation
Susie ,   Nitzan, Israel   (06.20.12)
Let her translate her books into Arabic and then she'll see how much she gets in royalties from an Arabic translation of her books.
10. Boring book!
John ,   San Diego   (06.20.12)
11. Who cares?
Danny   (06.20.12)
12. So What?
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (06.20.12)
This woman, knows nothing about Israel and less about the Palestinians. She is a well known bigot, and is championing a cause which she is ignorant of. Let the Palestinians drop a few Qassam's on her head, and see how quick she changes her tune!
13. What an irony
mindRider ,   The Free World   (06.20.12)
....that an author like her, writing about racial bias, promotes such versus Israel. How ignorant, stupid and willfully dishonest can alleged intellectuals be.
14. unfortunate
Arn ,   Yehud   (06.20.12)
It is unfortunate that her book will not be available in Hebrew. You would think that she would wish that the thrust of her writing would change the very flaws that has her so critical of Israel. But Ms. Walker is playing for the grandstands with her anti-slavery persona. She would bask in the warmth of the certain applause the multitude of anti-Semites will bestow upon her. But it's all persona when there is no longer anything in her that may deliver a work the equal of The Color Purple. The facts and the truth are not essential constituents in her judgments and they won't get in the way of the heroic image of herself that she struggles to project. She is light years removed from the likes of Martin Luther King.
15. ok, fine
Israella   (06.20.12)
Not sure why there is a need for a new edition of her book. Personally, I stopped reading her books when I found out who she associates with, how badly she treated her daughter (from Jewish husband) and her vile attacks against the US and Israel. An author not read will soon be forgotten.
16. shame
mika pika ,   Jerusalem IL   (06.20.12)
Its truly sad to see that an internationally acclaimed writer doesn't even know what the word "apartheid" means. And I would like to remind everyone here that America destroyed the NativeAmericans without so much as a "by the way, have some hospitals and schools and farms".
17. #13. intellectuals last ones you would look to for knowledge
ralph   (06.20.12)
better chance picking names at random from phone book with provision that they do not have a university degree.
18. Great...Now No Royalties
Steve Feuerstein ,   Bronx, NYC   (06.20.12)
Why pay such a repulsive Hamas terrorist sympathizer royalties anyway? We should thank profusely her for behavior of extreme censorship. And she's a Democrat?
19. Alice,ust rewrite the title of your book & call it
Moshe ,   Usa   (06.20.12)
" The color of another stupid author "
20. Alice Walker
Alice ,   Montreal   (06.20.12)
You made a good decision not allowing your book printed in Hebrew. Israelis, who are among the top intelectuals in world per quota, deserve better lecture. As for me, I wil not spend a nickel on your book.
21. Alice Walker
New Yorker ,   U.S.A.   (06.20.12)
Alice Walker is blinded by her own self-importance. She is no great writer of any lasting significance. In every society there is a breed of somewhat skillful, but mostly mediocre artists, writers, musicians who owe their success to the prevailing political climate. Alice Walker is one of these individuals. She is no Leo Tolstoy or F.Scott Fitzgerald or Edith Wharton, she is not even close. But her pumped-up sense of celebrity keeps her in thrall of herself as the one who without doubt knows what makes the world going and it's obviously herself. She should be ignored like a bothersome nuisance. There is better and greater literature and far more worthy writers and causes to concentrate one's mind on than her.
22. Won't Be Buying Walker's Books Now
elizabethlynne ,   Dallas, Texas!   (06.20.12)
Alice Walker should research the history of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict carefully and be sure of her position, unless she has and is frankly anti-semitic. I won't be buying or reading any of her books, and I'm sure that I am not the only American who will find her actions and her politics offensive.
23. No Alice Walker works...
BK ,   USA   (06.20.12)
No big deal!
24. I'm sure she has no objection to Arabic
Naor ,   USA   (06.20.12)
People like Alice Walker will bypass a Hebrew edition on the grounds of "human rights" yet will have no problem with an Arabic edition. The same language spoken by people who have murdered innocent Israelis, Americans, and Arabs (more than any Hebrew speaker ever has). She is a disgusting antisemite, nothing more.
25. False and Selective Compassion
Dallas ,   Canada   (06.20.12)
Walker has shown us that winning a Pulitzer Prize means nothing as far as moral character and wisdom, and the publicity gained from such recognition only increases the potential for using a soapbox to assist the spread of evil and delusion in the world.
26. Who gives a sh!t
Shira ,   NY Be"H YERUSHALAYIM   (06.20.12)
I wouldn't read that book if I were to be paid. Stupid woman, as if the people of Israel are crying cuz she won't translate the book into the holy language. Thank GD.
27. #13
Jane   (06.20.12)
Absolutely. And the operative word is "alleged".
28. Another pseudo-intellectual Jew hater!
Maurice ,   Montreal   (06.20.12)
Israel is a country with one of the highest number of published books per capita. She can keep hers out and no one will even notice!
29. a comment, Steven Spielberg?
ygalg ,   israel   (06.20.12)
30. Alice Walker rejects
