1. from a minor sin to a major
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (06.20.12)
dressing improperly is a minor offense compared to trying to kill some one for it. Those people who throw rocks and are SOOOOOO vary religious that they check out every lady to see what type of clothing that she wears should be put away in a place where they will not be seen nor see a woman for many years.
2. These, too, are terrorists
Chaya ,   Bat Yam   (06.20.12)
3. In name of religion ?
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.20.12)
Religion is "ve'ahavta et re'echa" too ! they probably don't know this . But they give a bad name to all the charidim . Go ahead with such a behaviour , you only feed anti religious feelings .
4. When bibi will start acting against that!
Ze'ev ,   Nbg, germany   (06.20.12)
He promised he would fight it?!
5. Israel is a holy land where women must dress modestly
(06.20.12)
If you don't like it, move to some Arab countries. Oops... these women wouldn't dare defile Arab countries.
6. Sketchy Story
Ari ,   Beit Shemesh   (06.20.12)
How would they know she was dressed immodestly if she was in her car? Also they would have to react pretty fast to notice she was dressed immodestly and find a rock to throw through her car. This story lacks credibility.
7. #5:
Sailor ,   USA   (06.20.12)
#5: So it is ok for the rock thrower to use his own standard of what is modest or not, and throw a rock at he woman if his standard is not met. Sounds like what would happen in a fundementalist Islamic country. You need to treat women with respect. We are not living in the middle ages.
8. Move those hardcore religious
carl ,   eu/il   (06.20.12)
to Arab countries! I promise, in Saudi-Arabia or Yemen, they won't find even a single woman who is dressed "immodestly". So, everyone is happy then. Isn't that a good deal?
9. Hey, Haredim - are you a bit confused ?
Barbara ,   Haifa Israel   (06.20.12)
You are living in Israel - not Iran !
10. Dressing immodestly
Big Al ,   Secular, Israel   (06.20.12)
Number Five- You must really be some kind of crackpot or very dangerous. Thank God you are in the minority
11. When I was a kid,
A ,   Belgium   (06.20.12)
my mother used to threaten to send me to military school for misbehaving, which was constantly. These haredi parasites should do three years of military service and than a month of reserves every year, just like everyone else, no excuses. Torah studies wont run away and they MIGHT learn how to behave in a modern state, instead of a shtetl.
12.  israel is not a civilized state
Bertrand   (06.20.12)
as it claims
13. Hate crimes and destruction of property should be prosecuted
grandma   (06.20.12)
A crime has been committed and the thugs who committed it should be held accountable. These young men clearly have nothing better to do than look for excuses to prey on innocent Israelis. They are not following the teachings of Judaism, which they profess. They haven't learned how to behave in civil society. Until they do, the harsher the punishment, the better. While they're in prison, maybe they'll learn to treat others with respect or face the consequences.
14. woman attacked
Alan ,   USA   (06.20.12)
This is really burqua mentality.
15. Improper Behavior
Rochel ,   Los Angeles, USA   (06.20.12)
The Torah teaches Ahavas Yisroel. Why don't you invite these "immodestly dressed" women you hate so much for a nice Shabbos meal and maybe they'll learn to love being frum?
16. @12
Ethan Schwartz ,   Eilat, Israel   (06.20.12)
If Israel were not a civilized state, this would not be news. We have things to fix.
17. Modest dress
Enoch ,   Toronto   (06.20.12)
If a Charedi throws a stone at a women because he doesn't like the way she is dressed, is it OK for me to throw a stone at him because I don't like the way he is dressed?
18. Its Ironic how you make fun of Saudi Arabia and the Taliban
Son of Yaffa ,   Palestine   (06.20.12)
Mirror mirror on the wall whom is the the greatest zealot of them all
19. 3 Very true,Charles
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (06.20.12)
Except that smart people know to make the difference between rotten and quality apples.
20. #3 Yes....
Jo Jo ,   London   (06.20.12)
Just like the secular Tel Avivians give a bad name too ALL seculars for smashing the car windowscreens of Blacks in their area. Does not secular culture teach fraternity and equality? They probably don't know about that. Time for Charles of Paris to do some missionising before the whole world thinks Israleis are all racists.
21. Ora , When i said "they" i meant those rotten
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.20.12)
I just spoke to a religious person living in Beth shemesh . Those "rotten" live mostly in one street . Many "normal" religious and charidi LEAVE this street , and there are more and more appartements for sale .
22. 18 , Son of YAFO , Israel
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.20.12)
Here we talk about a MINORITY under the minority , while in saudi Arabia it is the OFFICIAL policy , and the taliban kill and murder all the non Taliban . A big difference , NO ?
23. Persecution complex (motivated by guilt)
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.20.12)
Most haredi men do not care if someone is not dressed immodestly. At least not any more than when any Jew violates halacha anywhere in the world, even discretely. I have this on good word from a close relative who is full-on haredi in Mea Shearim. However, it is typical of women who suddenly feel uncomfortable in their skimpy clothes to begin to tug down on their mini-skirts and tug up on their halter tops when in a haredi environment. For some it is the sudden guilty feeling of being underdressed, while others would just like to flatter themselves. While a haredi may be thinking about his destination, or even just checking her out, she will believe that all eyes are cast upon her with contempt. Bet Shemesh is a neighborhood of people with no roots and the is no older, wisened generation to teach by example. Most likely one could not see what this woman was wearing, and most certainly she was stoned by a group of wild and unruly people lacking any culture or discipline on a hot summer's day. Scorn for her way of dressing came most stongly from her own consciense, which played no role in this story other than as her personal tell-tale heart.
24. Just like Iran and Saudi Arabia
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (06.20.12)
!
25. 20 jojo . OK . It's religion that orders
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (06.20.12)
throwing stones at women's cars , spit on girls , insult police officers . A nice religion you , ONLY YOU , follow . You're ignorant too . Petach Tikva is not Paris . That shows why you talk this way . Stay in london , we have more than enough "rotten apples" here .
26. #8 Get it into your blocked head: Israel is a JEWISH state
(06.20.12)
Jewish means Torah and dressing modestly is part of the Torah. If you don't like it, move to Arab countries where they don't have to follow Torah laws.
27. Isral is descending into an abyss of darkness
Sarah B (no not her)   (06.20.12)
28. Israel is a free land where women can dress anyway they want
Shai ,   Mexico   (06.20.12)
If you don't like it stay in your house.
29. she was driving a car! that was the problem
tsfatisha ,   tsfat   (06.20.12)
in certain haredi groups the women in them are basically not allowed to drive cars as it is considered immodest.. that was the problem.. not the way this woman was dressed, but the fact that she was driving a car in the first place
30. Dangerous freaks ,...
split ,   US   (06.20.12)
Anyone wonders why no one misses them in Europe ? ,...
