1. Sick to my stomach
Philos ,   Herzliya   (06.25.12)
At this disgusting display of schnorring! So there's a monument to the Red Army?! Where's the one for the Allies? Oh, right, America and Britain already pay out the nose to Israel so no need to erect a monument for D-Day or anything. Netenyahu is the lowest political creature ever!!! Vulgar and cheap!
2. collaboration
Eisenfeld ,   Ashkelon   (06.25.12)
good oportunity to stablish an accord to participate in the developement and construction of the 5th generation russian airfighter RFKT50 in wich india also participates.
3. Incorrect first paragraph
Michael ,   Switzerland   (06.25.12)
" a memorial for Soviet troops killed in World War II in Netanya". The above excerpt taken from the first paragraph should read: "a memorial in Netanya for Soviet troops killed in World War II" , unless the Soviet troops were killed in Netanya!?
4. Philos @ 1, there is something seriously wrong with you.
leo ,   usa   (06.25.12)
I hope life will become better for you one day.
5. Russia contributes to the world a lot.
Iranian Hunter   (06.25.12)
Who beats the nazis ? the russians and the brits, these two bear the heaviest cost. who fight islamist first ? the soviet union. who is fighting MB in Syria ? the russian essentially. who is invaded by islamist first ? Russia, chechnya. Who voted yes for the birth of Israel ? Mother Russia. Like i always said, Israel's mother is Mother Russia, Israel's uncle is uncle Sam. In the end, mother loves children more than uncle.
6. Any chance he could take Anastasia Michaeli back to Russia?
Haim ,   TA   (06.25.12)
7. #1 Allied Monument at Yadlashirion
Genesis ,   Johannesburg RSA   (06.25.12)
There is a monument at the Israeli Tank museum at Latrun to THE ALLIED ARMOUR that fought in WW2. it is the only one of it's kind in the world. So get off your high horse and learn your facts before you shout off your mouth and make us all look stupid!
8. #1 By the way
Genesis ,   JHB RSA   (06.25.12)
The monument is made up of 3 WW2 Tanks, one of which is RUSSIAN !
9. To #1, Philos
Gabe ,   Canada   (06.25.12)
We were thankful to see Red Army arriving and saving us from a horrible death in Budapest. The Allies were nowhere in sight. I was there ! Where were you ?
10. Gabe @ 9, are you talking about 1956?
leo ,   usa   (06.25.12)
If so then you post does not make any sense and especially considering that you are in Canada today. When it comes to think of it your question "where were allies than?" does not make sense even for 1945.
11. to #1
nadav ,   tlv   (06.25.12)
you are wrong! There are monuments and cemeteries in Israel not only to Allied soldiers in WWII, but also to Allied soldiers from WWI! This monument is not just another gesture to Russia, but is a memorial to the thousands of Red Army vets who live in Israel- this is for them!
12. putin in israel, russian arms ont he way to syria
celine woland   (06.25.12)
today a ship with russian military cargo for syria's assad was stopped by the british authorities.
13. It was the previous USSR helping Israel
Susya Bar Dror ,   Israel   (06.25.12)

14. puttin
evron ,   uk   (06.25.12)

15. @1: PUTIN has visited Israel twice, OBAMA never...
Andre ,   Clichy, France   (06.25.12)
says more about OBAMA than PUTIN really. Hopefully, ROMNEY will soon !
16. #1. Philos: A stark reminder for you
Tom W ,   USA   (06.25.12)
Generational changes are occurring incessantly. The people who once fought with the Allies are mostly departed and the new ones the "catherine ashton-s" and "obama-s" (sic) are not friends of Israel - to say the least. Haaretznik of today are not the same people who fought for Israel in 1948 - mind you. D-Day? Eisenhower vs. Obama? - what are you smoking? "Tempora mutantur et nos mutamur in illis. (Latin). The times are changed and we too are changed in them.
17. #13. Susya: Good, make them remember
Tom W ,   USA   (06.25.12)
For those with short memory: the British SIR (!) John Glubb pasa, the leader of the Jordanian Arab Legion attacked the nascent Israel and the Holocaust survivors in '48. Yes! The Britons. Weren't for Stalin arms shipments via Czechoslovakia Israel wouldn't exist today. The British never change, the new "Sir John Glubb" morphed into "Baroness Ashton".
18. to #1 Philos
Arn ,   Yehud, Israel   (06.25.12)
Sure, what we are missing is a monument to Roosevelt for sending the 950 Jewish refugees on the SS St. Louis back to Europe to burn in Hitler's ovens. Does this boggle your mind as much as mine? And we can certainly do with a monument to the US and allies for their heroic decision not to bomb the railways that led to the death camps (when they knew exactly what was happening there). The bottom line is that the US effectively contributed to the deaths of at least 3 million Jews. If any country deserves a monument to reflect our gratitude it should be China.
19. If Assad falls, then Russia will turn more to Israel
Avner ,   Tel Aviv   (06.25.12)
Without Assad, then Russia will be looking for new potential alliances in the region, one of them being Israel. This trip is quite a big deal for the Russians. They've flown in over a 100advisers for discussions with Israeli officials.
20. To No.10, Leo
Gabe ,   Canada   (06.25.12)
Try to quote me properly. There was Red Army blood flowing all the way to Berlin ! Your confusion about 1945 and 1956 is typically American. Take out a membership in a Public Library. Have a nice, sunny day Leo.
21. #10. An Ex-Hungarian message for you
Tom W ,   USA   (06.25.12)
While I am now living in the US but during that fateful year of 1956 I was still a young Hungarian student. The Communist Jews were in the fore "inviting" (sic) the Red Army to crush the anti-Communist revolt. Unfortunately that despicable act remained in the memory of many, fueling contemporary antisemitism. Did you already forget that Communist Jews lauded the Soviet's armed support for Nasser against Israel? Your selective memory is suspect.
22. Putin's visit in Israel
Zvi Glaser ,   Boca Raton, FL. USA   (06.25.12)
This is good! Many Jews fought in the Soviet forces in WWII. I personally. Read my book "Survivor A Latvian Jew in the Red Army in the Great Patriotic War (WWII)
23. To No.21, Tom
Gabe ,   Canada   (06.25.12)
The subject of this talkback is the Red Army's role in the Second World War. As far as 1956 is concerned, Janos Kadar was not Jewish. My memory is serving me quite well in spite of my age, thank you.
24. #1 Memorial to Jewish volunteers in British forces
Stephen Franklin ,   London UK   (06.26.12)
The memorial to Jewish Volunteers to the British armed forces during World Wars I and II at Beit Hagdudim is very near the new memorial to the Soviet forces who fought in WW2. It is at Avihail, Netanya.
25. It is good to see
Daniel ,   Auckland,New Zealand   (06.26.12)
that after years of denial and disgraceful bleating "Everybody knows that Americans won the war" and humiliating Jews by presenting them as victims rather than fighters and winners, the truth about the enormity of the debt owed to russian-speaking veterans is finally coming out. Too bad there are too few of them left to appreciate the gesture. I tip my hat to the vets of WwII. You have my eternal respect, sirs. Thank you!
26. Same Red Army that...
Sifter ,   USA   (06.26.12)
Supplied SAM missles to Syria downing dozens of Israeli jets; provided training, bases of operations, 'Terror U' funding and know-how to PLO and Co; created PLO as a fictitious 'liberation' movement in 1964 three years before there was anything to 'liberate'; gave Saddam, Syria and others BioChem warfare aid and know-how to be ultimately used against Jews and the Jewish State. Sure, let's build a monument to that......
27. #26, The inconvenient fact.
Gabe ,   Canada   (06.26.12)
Governments are making decisions not the Military. BioChem material was supplied to Saddam by the US Government while he was at war against Iran.
28. They were next.
Matt   (06.28.12)
That was what Hitler would have done to the Slav if he had conquered Russia, Stalin knew that. Because the allies would not open up a second front until late an left the Red Army do the fighting. Stalin decided to hold on to half of Europe. It is clear that the USSR won the war in Europe single handedly.
