31. What about Raoul Wallenberg
Aviva Kochavi ,   Tel Aviv   (07.02.12)
President Putin's visit to the Kotel is significant. After all, the Kotel symbolizes the Jewish heritage and memory and our yearnings for the Temple. However, recognition of goodness and gratitude are not less important. Putin's hosts should have reminded him that Raoul Wallenberg, the Swedish diplomat who saved scores of Jews in Hungary during the Shoah, was imprisonned by the Soviets in January 1945 and his fate and whereabouts are still shrouded in mystery. If Mr. Putin wants to pay respect to the Jewish tradition he should allow historians to study the KGB archives and let them find out what happened to Raoul Wallenberg, the greatest hero of mankind.
32. Indeed, what about Raoul Wallenberg?
Moshe Berdishevtzky ,   Ramat Gan   (07.02.12)
Aviva, You are right in reminding us all about Raoul Wallenberg and the Russian responsibility. A few weeks ago, the International Raoul Wallenberg Foundation, a charity which educates about the saviors, has announced a 100,000 Euros monetary prize to any factor providing scientifically corroborable information that would lead to the repatration of Raoul Wallenberg and his chauffer, Vilmos Lanfelder. Both were abducted by the Soviets on January 17, 1945. I hope that this blessed initiative by the Wallenberg Foundation will bear fruits!
