1. Israel Should Declare Marshal Law
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (06.26.12)
Lets face it, Israel has been coddling its Jewish residents for decades. In 1942, they would have thanked G-d for a refuge from Hitler and stopped the whinning.. Israel's need for people, has made the democracy a joke. Peaceful protests, within a definite area, (approved by the authorities) are okay. We had it in Los Angeles, until it became old, cost the taxpayers, and added to health concerns. Then the LAPD acted. Are these protestors sabras, or foreign imports? If born in Israel, they know the political system, with 60 parties. They are using extortion to achieve gains. They are focus groups only..from cottage cheese to nursery schools to home prices, etc. Israel is too tolerant, at a time when its enemies are beefing up their arsenals, and Iran/turkey are adding Egypt to its military might. Confronting the police and accusing them of excessive force, is an old trick of the anarchists. By giving in to them last summer..and now with a "review" of tactics...Israel is undermining its very foundations, and security. I am not shocked that Diaspora Jews are not as interested in Israel, unless there is a war. Israel, a small country with big time problems it appears..much of it Israel's fault. Simply put, battling the police is a felony in any country.
2. What a joke. Just a worlwide media stunt.
Avi   (06.26.12)
Simply smoke in mirrors. The injustices in Israeli society oppressing Israelis are caused by the very elite that organized this rally to simply be counted as one among many in a worldwide move to gain more power. Israelis should be passionate about protctionism and unequal justice as organized crime figures in this "closed" society that hides the true oppression of Jews in the land by fascists religious and political leaders. Its fake I say!
3. Only one who pays the fee for a car radio ...
Orly ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (06.26.12)
... to the broadcast authority has the right to talk about the "rule of law." Otherwise it is no more than a despotic slogan thrown about willy nilly by the controlling power in a phony-balogna middle-east "deomocracy."
4. Social protest "leaders" aren't above the law
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (06.26.12)
"but some things, like the arrest of (social protest leader) Dafni Leef, could have been done differently." Is Danino suggesting Leef deserved special treatment or consideration?
5. #4 yes they are
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (06.26.12)
Poor Danino. His forces have become so used to ultraviolence, breaking the law and stealing cameras during Zionist or Haredi protests, that they forgot that they are not allowed to touch Leftist rioters. Danino should have learned from Eisner, but he did not.
6. Sick of lefty whiners
Gil ,   Tel Aviv   (06.26.12)
The majority of Tel Avivim are sick of lefty whiners constantly tossing their toys out of the pram with their "social activism" - aka "spoilt brat whining".
7. Danino is the head of the Israel Poilce Thug Force!
David ,   Karmiel, Israel   (06.26.12)
500,000 protestors last year and about 20 arrests! The police move in and chaos reigns! Yep, let's blame the left and then we can pay NIS25 for cottage cheese, and NIS 20 for a liter of gasoline. Oh, I see, the comments here are from the rich who don't care what they pay as long as they can have all the luxury that want! Also, its about time that the Yanks and the Israelis who left for the "good" life kept their noses out of our business. Go and fix the mess that Bush and Obama have made!
8. #7 - "the police move in and chaos reigns"
William ,   Israel   (06.26.12)
So, your suggestion is to leave the protesters to do as they wish because then they'd be peaceful. Isn't that how the Organized Crime families also frame themselves? At the end of the day, Israel is a country of laws - and NO ONE rises above it, not you David, not Daphna Leef, not the President. All will move on and become history but the laws remain - and do so for a reason. I am all for lawful protests in our democracy but chaos, breaking of laws, and causing undue damage to property and the lives of those around the protesters is NOT acceptable. Claiming those who disagree with the protesters here are "rich people" just makes you look like an immature wank. It's a typical "Us and them" Leftist mentality which always undermines your so-called social platform. Yeah - it sucks to pay a high price for fuel and cottage cheese, although you greatly inflated the prices - of course. Nevermind that in most of Europe they pay MORE per liter of gas than in Israel, a country with NO natural petroleum reserves and surrounded by unfriendly nations. If you dislike the price of consumer goods - boycott them. It worked last time but somehow you blame the govt for it. Me thinks because you have an anti-Bibi agenda, which is tied to the major loss of Meretz in the polls, and you're feeling sidelined by the MAJORITY of the country. From your post is appears you just dislike everyone who is successful in life and demand they share it with you. Doesn't work that way, David. Get off your arse and get to work.
