Obviously an absurd MISPRINT : " Early Earth, with its far greater gravitational mass " --------------------------- Absurd because this statement implies that the Earth now has a smaller gravitational mass, which would change the Earth orbit about the sun. moshe

And how do you/we know that the Earth’s orbit has not changed? Many scientists even think that the Earth’s axis of rotation has drastically changed. The universe is stranger than we think, and we see new examples of this with every discovery.

And where would the Gravitational Mass have dissapeared ?. As according to me, Earths gravitational mass must have increased since then, with every impact of Asteroids and Meteorites landing on Earth and adding mass to it. Arn.Sweden.

I checked a geological time-scale chart. The Greenland crater would have been formed during the earlier part of the Archaean (formerly Archaeozoic) Era. And to #2: The universe is indeed stranger than we think. People have told me that my existence in this universe proves that anomalies happen!
8. One Theory Baut The Mass Change

One theory that has been floated (no pun intended) is that the moon was ejected from the earth in its early formation stages. As to gaining mass due to meteor impact, if the moon was ejected, I doubt that much mass has been added to the earth. There is another theory that the *mass* has stayed constant but the *density* has changed with the Earth expanding over the years. I'm not sure what camp I'm in. Need input . . .
