As far as I know, Beit Shemesh is in Israel. If you live in Israel, you must follow the law. The last I heard, it's not against the law for women to be on one side of the street, etc. This is discrimination and has turned into hate crimes. The Haredim involved are breaking the law. If they don't want to live in Israel, which is a democracy, then they should move somewhere where they feel more comfortable. The last I heard, anyone can walk on any side of the street they want to in Israel or anywhere else, for that matter. Why are these certain Haredim so insecure that they resort to bullying? I think they need to learn TOLERANCE and learn more Torah.

Beit Shemesh was not always like this. It was only in the last few years that a certain bad element of Haredi moved in and their numbers increased. It is like the "occupation" of the bad Haredi. Not all Haredi are bad or agree with this certain group. But it's beginning to look a little like Nazi Germany to me. "Women on one side of the street," women getting harassed, attacked, etc. This horrific behavior must come to an end soon and if the Israeli government won't do something about this disgraceful issue, then the Rabbeim should.

in an area that is public such as a sidewalk, it is ludicrous to force women not to walk. To request, perhaps, but to force, definetly not. Men should shield their eyes from seeing immodest women, and not STARE and normal women. Not the other way around, that women should be banned since men might see them. There is NO issur in SEEING a modest women, but their is one to STARE at any lady, modest or otherwise. These animals do not know how to learn, don't learn much, understand less. They should be banned from using sidewalks and use the street like horses and cows.

I don't know what to say and I don't believe that this story I write will be posted. I also don't believe that somebody will take it seriously...but this is my sad answer on the completely low behavior of Hareidim and completely frigid behavior of most of secular women. I'm a person who was once not religious but I became religious. I understand both sides of the equation just because I lived them. I love women till now I was loved by them and I'm able to say something on the issue. I was outraged on the behavior of Hareidim which from my prospective is just Chilul Hashem. I really wasn't able to find any justification for their actions. I felt my remorse by this and even though I do believe in G-d I just wanted to do bad to any man who spits on the woman or throws a stone. A woman is too Holy to do it towards. A few weeks ago I was finishing the long queue in my local store right near the salesman: I was ready to pay. Suddenly I felt that somebody on the back pushes me, like 5-10 times (had it been one or two I wouldn't have noticed, since everybody is impatient in front of the cash register...) I'm tall so it was right in the middle of the back. I turned back on the knock # 5 and I was about to literally puke. The woman was knocking me with her breasts to my back. Had I done the same with my man's place to her back it would be considered a sexual offense: not once, no twice: many times. The first second I was ready to puke not because I was so religious, just because I was disgusted. It is like sex in the crowd. But two ideas passed through my mind at the same time 1) If I say something now I'll be punished by the secular media which likes the HOT cases 2) But the second idea was much better: I looked at this lady (middle age not so good looking even educated and decent) and noticed that.... what do you think that I have noticed? I noticed that she didn't notice anything. She f***ed me literally (!) with her actually big breasts and she didn't notice anything! Not once, not twice. I mean 5-10 times. This second idea has shown to me the solution: many secular women (I'm afraid to say men too) are just frigid. They lost (I mean literally lost) the sense of sexuality, of woman's body, of touch and so on. I know it sounds crazy but I'm not the only one who says it. I see many signs of this. Too many almost naked young and beautiful secular girls walk the street, too often youngsters touch each other without any reason. Too much of everything brings...contempt and loss of sensitivity to the issue. I looked at the face of that woman one more time and just saw her frigid in bed: yes it is seen on the face! I often see this, thank G-d, I have seen wonderful loving women so I have something to compare with. This stopped me from saying the word to her... I walked home from the store and just had a compassion on poor Hareidim: they really believe that naked girls they see in the streets are whores...No! The girls just lost any sense of this at all! I think it is more a tragedy than a comedy! It is hard to explain to Hareidi man that the secular girl in the bikini is just.....a poor frigid soul which doesn't even know what to take off to be a little sensing and sensed.... P.S. Actually Hareidim do feel sex: they don't have too much of it!

This woman is nothing more than a rabble-rouser. This street is in a secluded All-Charefi area. It does not lead to a shopping center. There is a small supermarket, which has no value to anyone outside the neighborhood. Stop starting trouble!!!

Things that are this extreme are beyond the realm of religious observance but rather in the realm of the lunatic fringe.
