1. What are they talking about
Vlad   (07.10.12)
He was found GUILTY on one count, and will likely be spending the next three years in jail.
2. Unlike the neighbours he had an open trial not a bayonet
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (07.10.12)
up his backside, lynched &his body left to rot or gaol first then a trial.
3. @1 breach of trust is administrative issue
Miron ,   USA   (07.10.12)
it's not criminal. If you can't even comprehend that man was acquitted of crime why do you comment? Even more importantly, it is a fact of life that judicial powers of Israel were just accused of heinouse crime against state of Israel. The misuse of high office of the court of land. The application of law enforcement for nothing more than blood libel and physical depravation and persecution of outstanding Israelis is an unfotrunate but far more frequent event in Israel these days. And in this regard the indictment in the court of public opinion may not skip over those who enabled the persecution of innocent. The Haaretz is the central supporting tool of this zondercommand running AMOK.
4. Dankner and "suicide"
PaulZion ,   Israel   (07.10.12)
Mr Dankner obviously has never lost a loved one to suicide, and he has no idea of the pain and anguish those that mourn him or her, feel. Perhaps that is why he can suggest such a terrible thing with such glibness. I have, and I can tell you that there are times when the feelings of loss are excrutiating. He should be severely censured for his remarks. Lador did his job. Olmert's lawyers did a better job. End of story.
5. I am glad that Olmert got "vindicated"
Big Al ,   Zichron, Israel   (07.10.12)
Not so much for him but for the sake of the country. Now he should go away and write his memoires. A political career should be forgotten about until that smell of fish eventually dissipates.
6. Dankner's remarks- To PaulZion- 4
Big Al ,   Zichron Israel   (07.10.12)
I cannot imagine how much such a stupid and insensitive remark that Dankner made could have hurt you. The man is a self -servin buffoon, well past his prime ( if he ever had a prime) who has a need to " shock" people. He should have stopped to think, but that has always been a problem with him.
7. Lador stood up for proper values Bravo
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (07.10.12)
It is the Judiciary that is immoral and corrupt. They think they are G-d so they accept Zaken as the whipping boy when they know Olmert as her boss knew everything and probably put her up to it. He is a crook and a disgrace to jews. No wonder we get so much assimilation, the biggest cause of which is conciencious jews are ashamed of deeds of other jews.
8. No supprise here, he had the right Surname.
S Judah ,   Jerusalem   (07.10.12)
Had he been a Katsav or a Deri now that would have been different. Pretty obvious. What do Wizeman, Sharon and Olmart have in common. up you guessed it, they were Askhanazem
9. @1
Ehud   (07.10.12)
"Breach of trust" is an administrative issue, not a criminal one. There is no such paragraph in Europe or the US, and many think the vague "breach of trust"-paragraph is a bolshevik relic and should be stricken from the book of law in any transparent open society
10. #8 you are on to something
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (07.10.12)
Olmert was acquitted because he perpetrated Amona and his wife is a member of Shalom Achshav Sharon was acquitted because he ethnically cleansed Gush Katif of Jews Weizman was acquitted because he "helped" Begin give away Sinai On the other hand, even supporting Oslo did not save Deri from jail.
11. The Prosecutors Office -
Spencer ,   Israel   (07.10.12)
This office is doing the same thing to Lieberman. It's time the office became apolitical
12. I respect him.
Matt   (07.10.12)
He has a war going on, cancer, Iran these charges and he managed it all.
13. #6 Big Al - Thanks for your support
PaulZion ,   Israel   (07.10.12)
The censure these people should get for remarks like his, is a media boycott for a couple of years, including from writing editorials and opinions. He would wilt and shrivel. Perhaps then he would learn his lesson.
14. Dahlia: no surprise: Israeli law corrupt
Tambour ,   Eilat   (07.10.12)
Olmert is guilty ;and judgement stink $600000 is too big a sum to be owed to another when in office. OLmert bought Mrs Zaken to be the fall guy for him. Shame on the judges who acted corruptly to let him off. shame on Israel thataccepts this corruption
15. Tzpi Livni forced him out of office no body eles

mike north ,   karmiel israel   (07.10.12)
I agree that Dankner 's suggestion of suicide is so distasteful and extremely insensitive. It is high time that these public figures from the media learn to curb their vitriol and consider the families before frothing at the mouth
17. The best that we can say.
Ian ,   Newcastle upon Tyne   (07.10.12)
This has been a sad affair but I suppose that we can at least look on the bright side. Unlike other Middle East countries,it didn't need massive protests, revolution and violence to get a government leader to answer charges of corruption.Mr Omert had the dignity to submit himself to open justice which proceeded quietly, without fuss and,as we see today, fairly. This is a triumph and lays the lie that Israel is not a country of impartial justice and law. THREE CHEERS FOR ISRAEL!!!
18. As a successful attorney at law practicing for over 50 years
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.10.12)
I say that Hashem made sure Justice prevailed in this case. Olmert was and will always be our best Prime minister ever and to all of you haters on this sight I say:TOUGH LUCK idiots.
19. #18 "Sight" should be "Site"......
Robert ,   Australia   (07.11.12)
......in your post. One's level of education can always be pin-pointed from their written word.
20. #19 only proves its not Sarah B. but an illiterate imposter
Yisraeli   (07.11.12)
21. Two state solution
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (07.11.12)
Olmert was on the verge of creating the required two state solution when he was forced out of office. At the time many of us saw the case as pure politics, stopping the formation of a PA state, just as others before him had been stopped. The state prosecutor should be investigated thoroughly.
