1. I remember on my way into Yad Vashem crossing path with the
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.21.12)
just exiting Mr.Hussein B. Obama and his possy.... That was then!
2. me thinks he'll get more votes by going to Colorado instead.
Just Sayin' ,   Israel   (07.21.12)
Really, how can he travel when such a horrific and violent attack was carried out against innocent unarmed people in a movie theatre? If (G-d forbid) such a thing had happened in Israel the Bibi would stay home. So maybe Mr. Romney should just learn from Bibi's example.
3. Romney visiting Israel
Rhonda ,   Chicago,USA   (07.21.12)
I for one am very appreciative of his visiting Israel. Visiting there, seeing the complexity of the ground situation gives one a different point of view entirely. I will never forgive Obama for failing to visit Israel during his presidency. He had been in the neighborhood and didn't go by. Not only during his time when he spoke at Cairo University but when Bibis father passed. He couldn't make a Shiva call? He was in Afganistan. So he shouldn't take American Jewish votes for granted. When I was in Israel, I asked Israelis who they would vote for if they could vote here. To a person they said Romney. I asked how they could say that given obamas backing with Iron Dome, in the UN, etc. everyone was appreciative, very appreciative of these things. Very grateful. But the people I talked to basically felt that Obama didn't LIKE them. I asked, what do you mean by that, by "them". People told me they didn't think he liked Israelis. And I think that's it in a nutshell. It's not just about Bibi. Those two don't like each other. But when you don't make a state visit then it's more than about the leaders. It's a rejection of the people. Do I want another 4 years of that? No. And if he wins another 4 years, he has nothing to try and do better for since he doesn't have to worry about reelection. I'm 56, been a democrat all my life, voted for him 4 years ago, will be voting for Romney this November. And yes, I am Jewish.
4. Romney needs to lay down some markers
SMF ,   USA   (07.21.12)
It is time for Romney to separate from the Democrat Party fake love for Israel in an election year....Some easy actions. 1. Name a date for transfer of the US Embassy to Jerusalem. 2. Declare he will weed out full timer Arabist appeasers at the US State Department. 3. Announce John Bolton is a top candidate for Secretary of State. 4. Declare "Obama" as the cause for the breakdown of peace talks with his no 'settlements" precondition. 5. Declare he will review the "Levy Commission" report with top attorneys. 6. Declare his administration will not use term "occupied territories" to Judea and Samaria--but "disputed territories."
5. #3 Rhonda, best talkback maybe ever.
Robert ,   USA   (07.21.12)
Thanks Rhonda for your excellent talkback, one of the best thought out and expressed I have ever seen to any article here. No, I am not Jewish, and no, I did not vote for Obama, but yes, I stand with Israel and spent 3 months there by myself a couple of years ago and believe I understand how Israelis see things -- and see that Obama really doesn't like Netanyahu and likely is not pro-Israel, just pro-Obama. If Obama is re-elected it will be bad news for Israel. I stand with Israel
6. Computer on verge of crash but trying to respond to #4 &5!
Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (07.21.12)
First, Robert. Wow. Never had anyone write something like that to me before! Thanks. Most importantly though, thank very much for your ongoing support and standing up for and with the State of Israel. It is very appreciated. I can tell you that of the Israelis whom I spoke with on the ground, they too are very grateful for those that understand their situation and support them. Obama has been a real disappointment to me. I really thought that because Bush was such a lightening rod and how people felt about Iraq and Afganistan, that Obama, who seemed willing to try and get dialogue going with everyone, that he might be a good idea. Plus to be honest, there are social issues in the US that I agree with him on. But I was really naive although looking back on things now, I wouldn't have had a problem with John McCain but Palin- I did not respect her at all. So I went with Obama. What a disappointment. I am so very disappointed that so many Jewish people will vote for him again. The reason for that is complicated...I think part of it has to do with the democratic social platform and part of it has to do with not being educated well enough about the situation on the ground in the middle east. It's easy to sit on the chair and watch TV and think you understand. But going there, talking to the people, asking questions, that's a different education. As far as Bibi goes, I've always liked him although I realize that understanding a political figure isn't the same when you are not living in the country versus being in the country and living with their influence in day to day affairs. Well, I'm rambling. Sorry. Thanks again. To SMF- I like action steps #1, #3, #5, #6. The weeding out of people makes me nervous in all candor, it sounds alot like McCarthyism and we know how bad that got here. If we replaced the words "Arab appeasers" with some other group, would that disturb us? All I am saying is that it is a slippery slope. I agree with the "settlements precondition thing you wrote- IMHO, he should have never said that. It gave the Palestinians reason to believe the adage, "if you give an inch, they'll want a mile"...and now they want the mile. Well actually they want all the miles between the Jordan River and the city of Tel Aviv...
7. We are weary of Wars???Where have you been??
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (07.21.12)
Obama has the Entire Middle East and North Africa at war because of his strategic coups to gain them DEMOCRACY. This Democracy that Obama has started... will end up with his minions of wanta be Irans.... run as religious fascist theocracies. Don't give Obama a free pass....He has created a monster in the Middle East. Israelis will have to fight this monster he has created too.
8. 2# Maybe because after Obama's created mess....
Steven Wilson ,   Anchorage, Alaska   (07.21.12)
Romney is going to have to deal with it. Many more Americans will die because of what Obama has done in his Mid East Policies. Romney has to go straighten out Jimmy Carters mess as well. Obama just sits back and stirs the kettle.....then gets voted out of office leaving the Republicans to straighten out his global foreign nightmare. Obama is an agitator....the idiots rioting in the Middle East just haven't figured out that they were played like a fiddle by this nightmare in Washington DC....
9. Romney doesn't have a snowball's chance in Hell of winning
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (07.21.12)
If the heat in the kitchen gets too hot, look for a false flag operation and a suspension of the elections along with martial law, and guess who gets to stay in power?
10. Remember voting against Obama is anti-american- according
ab   (07.21.12)
to Bradley Burston of "Haaretz".........
11. Romney has to show he has a backbone.
Harry Wright ,   UK   (07.21.12)
He absorbs Obama's attacks and then says Obama is a "good guy". He has yet to prove that he is a formidable opponent. He has to grasp Obama's shortcomings and turn them to his advantage. He has to demolish Obama's actions and policies with flair (not nastiness) and apparently, he can't do that. He has to be America's tough guy, not its nice guy. He has to get out of the boardroom and appeal to the grassroots American public. He has to craft a vibrant personality for himself. If he can't do those, he will remain as an "also ran" and will be no serious competition for Obama. If he does and becomes a serious threat to Obama, then Obama has his goons on the sideline waiting to create havoc and chaos on the streets of America so he can shut down the country and remain in power. Either way, Obama gets to remain as president.
12. If Romney says Obama is a "good" or "nice" guy, then
Harry Wright ,   UK   (07.21.12)
he is giving voters NO reason to change him in November. Why should Americans vote for Romney if Romney endorses Obama??? Truly pathetic and timid approach which does not inspire any confidence in Romney whatsoever.
13. Rommey's visit to Israel
Shlomo Feldmann ,   Givatayim, israel   (07.21.12)
Rommey shoudl genuily and heartfully declare in Israel, that-once elected to president- he will pardon Jonthan Pollard as a human step of justice. Most of teh jews in israel and USA will hail him for this anticiapted act of humanity.
14. #13 If Romney declared that he would release Pollard.....
Robert ,   Australia   (07.22.12)
......he would effectively lose because he would be releasing a convicted spy. That wouldn't go down well with those with US security at heart.
