31. It's a statement ,...
split ,   US   (07.22.12)
Nothing but cannon meat for zionists Helpless and abandoned, some refuse to die out quietly,...
32. WRONG!!!!!!!#2
dr harry ,   jerusalem   (07.22.12)
It is the governments period. This time it happened to be, the present one, being too busy unwrapping their new BMW!!!!!!!!!!! This is not the place to rabble on, with your garbage of blaming JEWS living in Israel or Jews in general. As if the Left doesn't have much blood on their hands!!!!
33. Desperation and hoplessnes
A Jerusalemite ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (07.22.12)
Seems to me that some of the comments here go to show how lacking in empathy some people can be... Suffering, hopelessness, desperation; these are not just words, they are a very severe pain to those that suffer them. When the cause of the pain is bad government, then that government and it's policies must be changed. As #2 said: "No hope under the right wing government...that puts all the money in the illegal settlements and supporting the"... Haridim.
34. Are you all insane?
Ephraim ,   Jerusalem   (07.22.12)
Some people wrote a reply to my post. They refer to me as #11. What in my post made anyone think I am Haredi? Do you all just hate the Haredim so much that you jump at the chance to abuse them 1- I am not Haredi 2- My son just finished 5 years in the air force. 3- I also lost some money in business in the recent past and probably have 10 times more debts than this man, but I never thought of burning myself to death and leaving my family to deal with all the problems and the lifelong pain that his family will have to deal with. I know from personal experience that once you get into debt in this country it is almost impossible to get dig yourself out, but becoming a martyr and burning yourself alive is just plain stupid. Getting back to people abusing me because I am "Haredi", which I am not, proves the bigger problem in our country, which is the overwhelming hatred people have for each other. I respect ALL people, never mind their religion or level of observance. What I do not respect is some loser doing something so stupid and selfish that it hurts his family and other people's families.
35. Take the money from the charedim
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.22.12)
The needs of Israelis who have served, whose children have served and whose grandchildren will serve should be at the forefront of Israel's obligations and duties. Israeli taxpayers should not have to support the Neturei Karta, Satmer and other ultra-Orthodox groups who are anti-Zionist, do not even recognize the State of Israel, breed like rats and impose ridiculous demands upon the State of Israel -- I mean, really! Segregated buses? Abusing women who are, to their way of thinking, immodestly dressed? Because they wear short sleeves in 100 degree heat? Get them the hell out of Israel, and let them pull that stunt in any other Western country. Watch what happens. I would much rather see the taxes I pay to the State of Israel -- which are considerable -- go to help Israelis who recognize the State of Israel, are more than happy to pay their way, but have suffered personal downturns. It happens. Let's help them, and not that pack of leeches that want to study Torah all day. That, they can do anywhere in the world. In a country whose legitimacy they recognize.
36. Immolation by a Vet.in Yahud.
Kevin John Lee ,   Glasgow/UK   (07.22.12)
I look at the sad event that has taken place, and have to wonder about humanity, after seeing the Talkbacks and readers comments.
37. A few here have hit out at #11 Ephriam, basiscally
Arlene ,   Israel   (07.22.12)
without knowing nothing about him. I do see his point, and suicide is a sin, whichever way you look at it in a few religions, not just ours. It is tragic that a person is at such a low, he will set himself on fire, which must be one of the most painful deaths..if successful....and if not... hell itself if they do survive. I should imagine both cases were due to critical depression and a lapse of sanity for that terrible moment. Things have been wrong for a while with the sources that are supposed to help these people, do we blame the government or those clerks that they face, who just sit in an AC office and collect their monthly pay. I have come across those stony faces and feel helpless in their hands. So please National Insurance and any other source of welfare......just think for a moment, one of those lost soles facing you could be one of yours facing a clerk elsewhere.
38. let me be clear
Ephraim ,   Jerusalem   (07.22.12)
I wrote a post talking about MOSHE SILMAN, not the man discussed in this article. Why is everyone jumping on me? If you all think lighting yourselves on fire is ok, then do it, and leave us normal people alone.
39. Blood thirsty 'social' protest
Ilan   (07.22.12)
Making desperate people into fodder
40. that's what the army could do to you
no yeshiva army boys   (07.22.12)
41. #34 - this is YNet. Kharedi-bashing is a sport here.
Henry from New York ,   Currently in Israel   (07.22.12)
42. The Jews of Israel are imploding..no leadership
Al   (07.22.12)
no real objective as a people and as a nation. A huge sense of entitlement and want is the way of life in Israel. Your leaders arent leaders, your Rabbis arent Rabbis. YOu are surrounded by enemies who would kill you at the drop of a hat, yet you spend endless amounts of time pissing on eachother nonstop. Get your shit together and stop the madness, These two who killed themselves were two very sick souls. Leave them be...They are not and are not an example for anyone. Israel is facing some very tough times. Iran is working to destroy you and should Obama be re-elected which is very possible, you will end up being screwed 100 times over. Its time to unite and face the challenges to come.
43. Do you all want to know what's wrong with this country ?
Disgruntled   (07.22.12)
Just look at today's headlines and figure out for yourselves why people are so upset. 1. Ministers get new BMWs' 2. Students cannot afford to study 3. Super Bank Hapoalim - 25% net profit 4. Haredim don't go to the army till over 26 5. Rich Rabbis become savvy businessmen And you all wonder why ? A typical day in Israel....
44. Thanks Comrade Moshe just look at the example you set
zionist forever   (07.22.12)
A couple of days after Comrade Moshe set himself on fire because he blamed the government because he got himself into debt somebody else threatened to set themselves alight but was stopped before he could do it now we got somebody else following in his example. Its like Silman has become a national hero to anybody who has got problems, well sorry but we all got our problems in life but we neither set ourselves on fire or blame the government for our problems. Now we also have people out protesting telling us what a hero Moshe Silman was and how he died for their cause. Silman was an idiot not a hero whose actions should be followed Whilst the reasons why these bodies are not giving them the financial support that he is entitled to the IDF vets like this one ( assuming they do qualify ) then thats not something to blame Bibi for its beuracrcy. Its no good saying Bibi is responsible for the problems and Bibi must fix it with money we need to investigate case by case problems. Before now Bibi had never heard of Moshe Silman or this IDF vet so how can he be expected to do anything for them? Some people have slipped through the net possibly this guy was one of them but others don't qualify like Silman who was blaming Bibi for the fact he did not meet the criteria for public housing and the fact he got into debt & lost his business and is now poor. Some problems are just not for the government to sort out and we need to take a little SELF RESPONSIBILITY instead of expecting the government to look after their every need.
45. ANSWER TO 46
Mike ,   KARMIEL   (07.22.12)
ANSWER TO 46 You could also add that so many people have no connections to Tora values or judaism whatsoever that they don't see any sense living anymore.
46. #44 the problem is that most Israelis are so used to
Al   (07.22.12)
sucking on that governmernt teat that they are simply chocking. They forgot to take care of their own. They have become the ultimate slaves to the system and thats just how socialist governments like it. Keep the people poor stupid, unarmed and wanting. You reap what you sow and so Isreal today is a figment of what it was in the 40's to the 60's. It was that Israel that founded the state fought off armies and secured the country till the great onslaught of 1967. Today Israel is weak, its leadership is wanting, its religious leaders crooks. In short you are in deep trouble.
