1. wow, this guy should have gotten a prison term
jack bauer   (07.24.12)
both kam and blau deserve to sit for a good while and ponder the seriousness of their actions. The battle plans, order of battle and other serious intel should never have been in private hands. Its basically treason and their should only be one penalty for that. They both knew exactly what they were doing and the millions of lives they put at risk
2. Speeding is also a matter of routine...
Miron ,   USA   (07.24.12)
doesn't exuse you from paying ticket. The fact that "he behaved according to rules of the game" is a nice joke to laugh at for Mr. Blau... for a couple of years in solitary confinement.
3. that's all?

4. unbelievable
Shalom ,   UK   (07.24.12)
Just image if this guy was Charadi, 5 year prison minimum. Dare i say just like a certain Jerusalem politician a couple of weeks ago, depending where on the religiuous spectrum a person is whether Ashenaki or Sefardi determines the sentence!
5. who would have thought it -
Dan   (07.24.12)
that a Haaretz journalist could be a traitor?! Haaretz is an anti-Israel rag read by naive leftists and racist knuckledraggers.
6. if you treat violations of state security laws...
rick ,   walnut creek   (07.24.12)
if you treat violations of state security laws with indifference, you can anticipate that you will get more and more serious violations. by imposing a severe sentence, you vindicate the law and the principle that the security of the state of the people is important. you will get more disgusting morons like blau and kam. these fools are gifts to the enemies of Israel.
7.  A jail term would be poetic justice.Portraying Israel as a
PETER SM ,   MELBOURNE AUSTRALIA   (07.24.12)
police state is what Haaretz does, defying every possible journalistic code of ethics. Receiving stolen goods is a criminal offence. No doubt he will go back to bashing Israel as is the Haaretz routine, distorting, misleading headlines and presenting Israel in the worst possible light. Will he consider the state that they demonise has let him off with a tap on the hand ,instead of treating him as he tries to portray Israel .
8. Spies Protecting a Spy
joe sombrero ,   usa   (07.24.12)
Proves there are Western government Spies protecting spies in Israel. All these traitors should be found and imprisoned for life like Johnathan Pollard. Why do I think the Americans and the British government is involved in this.
9. He's a dangerous traitor. JAIL!
Reuven   (07.24.12)
10. Blau
michael Pielet ,   israel   (07.24.12)
Another example of a corrupt Israeli judiciary. Blau should have been convicted of treason. At a minimum he should have been sentenced to 30 years at hard labor on a rock pile.
11. I stopped reading Haaretz after this scandal.
Deena   (07.24.12)
They crossed the thin line that they should have never crossed. Check their website, they did put this news in their main page... Cowards. I would also have to say, that this has nothing to be with the Left, they act just like traitors to the country, that is different.
12. No. 7 Peter
NYC Girl   (07.24.12)
interesting point. Will he perhaps recognize the fact that Israel never deserved his obsessive antipathy now that he's gotten such a lenient sentence? And will he admit that in some of the countries, who he no doubt reflexively defends while demonizing Israel...he probably would have been put up against a wall and shot?
13. we need to deal with truth & justice theAmerican way
zionist forever   (07.24.12)
Blau's attitude to this whole thing has been I am a journalist and this is about press freedom. Its like if you got a press card then your allowed to do what the hell you like and if you tell them no then your denying them their constitutional rights. Why did Blau hold onto the STOLEN documents for years after Shin Bet demanded their return and not get punished for it? This who affair has been a shambles from start Kamm getts a slap on the wrist jail sentence which she is appealing and will probably be paroled in about a year anyway and Blau getting a pathetic 4 months community service. When are we going to start doing things the American way? Bradly Manning stole documents and gave them to Wikileaks now he is facing the rest of his life behind bars and even that is only because the prosecution didn't seek the death penalty which was a punishment he could have been given. If this had been the US Kamm would be in jail for the rest of her life and Blau would be spending a very long time in jail himself and the judges wouldn't accept any nonsense about press freedoms. I imagine the front page on Haaretz tomorrow about how unjustly Blau has been treated and how we should be demanding Peres issue Kamm with a pardon because she is a national hero.
14. Uri Blau
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (07.24.12)
Strip him of his Israeli citizenship, and send him into exile, never to return. He does not deserve to call Medinat Israel home. Let his vile name never be heard again in the land.
15. Un -freaking- believable . Pollard gets life in jail for hel
hippocrates ,   earth   (07.24.12)
ping the US's closest ally, while a real treacherous guy gets 4 months community service??? Lefty Aviv ruled, Lefty Aviv likes him.
16. wow! 4 months of community service
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (07.24.12)
Wow, is it great to be a liberal journalist. Gornisht! what a joke. If it were a 'settler' he would not see the sun for a year. Not only are the courts partial, but also the army. No wonder the charedim won't join!!
17. 4 months at some phoney job at beach house owned by "Haaretz
ab   (07.24.12)
,terrible, terrible punishment of the traitor who had passed IDF secrets to the Brits
18. - and throw away the key!
ej ,   tlv   (07.24.12)
good riddance to bad rubbish!
19. Kam, Blau and Haaretz all guilty
Noel Nesor ,   Israel   (07.24.12)
Surely the main guilt is that of the Editor and Board of Haaretz for publishing the article. LOCK THEM ALL UP FOR A LONG TIME.
20. if only somebody had given him a shtreimel
zionist forever   (07.24.12)
The man already has a beard if we had just given him a shtreimel as well he would have been mistaken for a haredi and the liberal left judges would have locked him up for life.
21. Blau and Kam
Moragh   (07.25.12)
Shouldn't be allowed out of prison until they are too old to remain there. The only sad part about my suggestion is that the Taxpayers have the expense to fork out keeping them both alive.
