Al Qaeda has claimed responsibility for the deaths of 113 Iraqis in terrorist attacks on Monday. Most of them were probably Shiites, so no one seems to care. The deaths in Bulgaria have gotten much more attention and sympathy.

The Western World has long been comfortable with the killing of Jews. The horrors of the Holocaust were rejected only after they were widely publicized. The Western World created Israel because it had done nothing to prevent the Holocaust, and felt it had to do something to show that it was not complicit in it. It tacitly recognized that Jews needed a safe haven in an anti-Semitic world. But, that only caused anti-Semitism to pause, not cease. The Western World is quite comfortable with Muslims killing Jews. Discomfort only arises when and if Israel retaliates.
