1. From a psudo-nation that will refuse to compete against us
rebecca ,   Modiin   (07.27.12)
Sport is a bridge for love, unification and for spreading peace among the nations
2. Terrible
A Cohen ,   Israel   (07.27.12)
I recommend that the Israeli athletes go to the Olympic opening ceremony wearing black armbands and put a black ribbon across the Israeli flag.Something needs to be done at the opening ceremony to commerate Munich.
3. What has ABBAS's Teror at Munich got to with LOVE BS
Alan ,   SA   (07.27.12)
4. My suggestion to Israeli team
Big Al ,   Zichron, Israel   (07.27.12)
and the Israeli nation as well as Jews everywhere. I suggest that we go to the Olympics with our heads up, support our athletes as they compete in their events, behave with honor and ignity and do our mourning " in house" Don't give the bastards the pleasure.
5. From an entity that names places after child murderers
Avi   (07.27.12)
Naturally since they name schools and streets after heinous terrorists who murdered dozens of civilians of all ages each, it would also make sense in their culture to view negative attitude towards their terrorists as evil and criminal, so they'll also label it as racism. I keep open minds on cultures world wide, but I find this one obviously inexcusable and incompatible with human morals and spirit in this age. They're savage animals who live in the stone age with a fitting set of morals. They justify murdering their own sisters, why should this come as a surprise?
6. Both sides in the Arab-Israeli conflict...
Mark Wilson ,   U.S.A.   (07.27.12)
Committed countless massacres and crimes against humanity. The I.O.C took the right stance in rejecting the moment of silence commemorating the Israeli athletes. The I.O.C is not a political group and should never be one. Sports and politics should not mix. Next thing would be to ask the I.O.C for a moment of silence to commemorate the children of Kana and then another moment of silence to commemorate the innocent civilians on the Iranian Jetliner shot down by the U.S navy. Its true that the Israelis were Olympians, but who is to say that the some of the murdered children of Kana could not have become Olympic athletes had they been given the chance to live? Its a flood gate that, once opened will be impossible to close. Please spare me the Anti Semite argument for it has lost its true meaning...
7. #6 : I got the impression
Isac   (07.27.12)
you aren't able to think clearly. Israelis were murdered in cold blood while they were participating at the Olympic Games. That does not have to do anything with any other terrorist related issues. That even does not have to do anything to do with Palestinian murderers blowing up children in cafes while having an ice cream. And yes, Mark, this I.O.C. descision has everything to do with Anti-Semitism as it is also shown by your own comment.
8. The disgust one feels towards everything "palestinian" is
tom ,   tel aviv   (07.27.12)
slowly spilling over towards their European enablers, in particular the Not So Great Britain!
9. Oh FFS!!!
Peter ,   UK   (07.27.12)
Mark Wilson, where was the 'peace and love' when the athletes were killed? They were killed AT THE OLYMPICS, that is why it is relevant to hold a memorial on this issue AT THE OLYMPICS on the 40TH ANNIVERSARY. I will be holding my own personal moments silence in protest at this decision.
10. Markie
Rich ,   Las Vegas USA   (07.27.12)
First of all, your knowledge of history in the arab israeli conflict is nill, secondly tell us when is was that Israelis massacred innocent Palestinians? Ill bet you can't and thats because Israel has never massacred innocent Palestinians anywhere. All innocents killed by Israel were accidental or unintentional. Israel can't be blamed for terrorists hiding amongst women and children. Anti Semite, no Complete moron, yes you are!
11. to #6, Mark Wilson
Liad ,   Tel Aviv   (07.27.12)
This occurred at the Olympics. It's not just that Olympic athletes and coaches were involved. The only floodgate being opened here are in case tragedies occur at future events (G-d forbid). Your example of a murdered child from Kana maybe having grown up to be an Olympic athlete is not only unfair, it's invalid in this context. This should also be done because of the shameful way that the Olympic Committee handled the situation then, as well.
12. Jabril is an idiot, how can remembering
Peggy ,   UK   (07.27.12)
be rascist, or ar we rascist if we are against these terrorist killers, if so than I am very rascist! Dont think Team Israel will be allowed the black ribbons, but whatever, they must hold heads high and proud as the walk into the stadium with the Star of David flag going before them.
13. #6
JR ,   Netanya, Israel   (07.27.12)
What the hell have Kana and the Iranian jetliner got to do with the Olympics? Zero. What has the Munich massacre got to do with the Olympics? I'll assume you realize its a stupid question. Meanwhile 9/11 was given a moment of silence at the winter Olympics in 2002, and the Bosnians were given a moment of silence at the opening ceremony of an Olympics in the 90s. So you see there is a precedence, and the Munich massacre is the only event that is even connected to the Olympics. No one is trying to make a political statement against the Palestinians. We just want the IOC to give us 1 minute to ponder the biggest and most tragic example of when the "Olympic Spirit" was completely destroyed. If it was any other country in the world, no one would have a problem with it.
14. #6 Mark lost the plot of this artical
Meghan ,   Israel   (07.27.12)
cold blooded murder is very different and this was an offence to the whole ideal of the olympic games.
15. #2 Brilliant idea, A Cohen!
Mark ,   Lodz, Poland   (07.27.12)
It will send the message to the World that we do what we have to do. Doing the right thing for the right reason
16. This should make the IOC feel warm and fuzzy
Paul ,   Jerusalem   (07.27.12)
They have brought joy to the murderers. What a noble accomplishment. When you consider that Islam glorifies genocide and death, you wonder what level of morality does the members of the IOC have and the countries from which they were breed. German's may have lost WWII, but German racist ideology is now mainstream.
17. What a Hypocrite!
emanon ,   USA   (07.27.12)
Saying that sport "must not be a cause for divisiveness and for the spreading of racism" and yet, that is exactly why the arab terrorists killed the Israeli athletes! There are lots of adjectives I would have liked to put before the word "hypocrite", but I could not find one vile enough to truly express what I feel. People, stop using that "p" word: these people are arabs. They have no nation to belong to, no culture of their own (other than a culture of death worship) and nothing that sets them uniquely apart from any other arab people.
18. Maybe a Purpose for Harediem
emanon ,   USA   (07.27.12)
Can you imagine all the Harediem that can gather in England leading everyone in a Kaddish prayer for the fallen Israeli athletes?
19. Exactly why PA will not amount to ought
Norbus ,   Jerusalem   (07.27.12)
TOO DUMB , too insensitive , and too irrelevant to be in this game
20. BOB COSTAS WILL HOLD A MOMENT OF SILENCE ON NBC
Bad Assed Jew ,   United States   (07.27.12)
For the Israeli slain athletes on friday just before the opening games. GOOD ON COSTAS!!!!
21. Abbas financed the murder of Israelis
Leah ,   Israel   (07.27.12)
at the Munich games that is why he does not want them to be remembered. He was the one behind financing terror attacks in the PLO. Remember this just because he wears a suit does not make him anything other than what he is a TERRORIST
22. Palestinian callousness
Richard ,   Manchester   (07.27.12)
By sending a letter to the IOC, the Palestinians reveal their true colors - callous and unfeeling.
23. CONGRETULATIONS!
tiki ,   belgium   (07.27.12)
Mr. Rogge & his corrupt OC functionaries must have their 'proud moment today....giving in to Arab terror & blackmail! They made a lot of 'new best friends today! Hamas, Abbas, Iran, Hezbollah, our HR friends & last but not least Haneen Zoabi. How can this man ever claim a shred of decency for himself.
24. B"H - And Israel Is A Nation Amongst The Nations, Right?
Ariel Ben Yochanan ,   Kfar Tapuah, Efraim   (07.27.12)
25. The Narrative
Adam Neira ,   Paris, France   (07.27.12)
Remembering the dead is a mitzvah. It is not racism. Thus the Embassy's action and the Centre for the Diaspora, WZO's actions today in London is honourable. Regarding deaths at the Olympics see... I believe the IOC needs to weigh up many factors when working out how to organise and run the Olympic Games. It is not an easy job balancing all the various needs of the participating nations. The London Olympics can be redemptive if international trust building is on display.
26. I AGREE
STARS AND STRIPES ,   USA   (07.27.12)
i agree with mark you people carry this crap way too far every country around the world has been subjected to some kind of terrorism where it happened doesnt matter get over it the olympics is no place for politics. people around the world dislike you because of the way you act and expect everyone to care. the world is awakening and everyone has their own problems to deal with without thinking about your problems. im sure everyone is going to say that this is anti semitic because thats what you people do whine. i really couldnt care less call it what you will. respect yourselves and people of other nations will begin to respect you
27. Palestinians welcome IOC's rejection
joe ,   uk   (07.27.12)
IOC President President Jacques Rogge should hold a minute of silence in memory of fellow athelits murders it did happen at the olympic and he should not worry what anyone will say about it shame and the palistininans praise him for that ? i wonder if he is proud to get such welcom from the palistinians this is nothing to do with religon or being israelis they were athelits
28. Level IOC= level UN, corrupt and antisemitic.
Jerry ,   The Netherlands   (07.27.12)
29. Bullshit
Brooklyn, NY   (07.27.12)
Not only are you a close minded idiot, you contradict yourself. First you say commited countless massacres against humanity but then you say the olympics is a place for sports, not politics. Well sports and politics came together after those innocent athletes were murdered by terrorist scum. By standing by terrorists, you are enabling and encouraging them. And btw I don't where you get your "information " from, but Israel has never ever committed massacres against thousands of people. Take your propaganda and shove it.
30. #7 Isac
Mark Wilson ,   U.S.A.   (07.27.12)
No Isac, it is you who are confused. The children of Kana were killed while sleeping peacefully and those passengers of the civilian Iranian airliner were minding their own business. I said in my post that both sides committed terrible crimes. I do not defend Palestinians and you people certainly do have more than enough blood of innocent children on your hands. Stop being a hypocrite and accept the ugly truth as is. How many
