the Belgians did it first. Powdered Titanium built up to replace a jaw. Old news.

One of the remarkable things about science and technology in Israel is how much is cross-disciplinary. Many research centers at places like Bar Ilan and Technion specifically gather together researchers from multiple fields. The end result is that something out of right field is often used to solve a problem encountered in left field. The pill cam, too, was developed by folks who originally worked in missile design. It's an old story. A friend of mine (an MIT graduate) tells me that when Israeli engineers were working on a problem related to missile stage separation, they drew on a technique used by Jewish goldsmiths!
