1. Syria's helicopter's
Mike in Maine ,   Maine, United States   (08.04.12)
All it's gonna take is one SA-7 shooting a Syrian fighter jet or helicopter out of the sky and that's the end of the Syrian Air Force's support of Assad. Even the Russian's knew that once the Afghani's got the STINGER'S that they were 'done' and that Afghanistan was a lost cause. Syria is the same.

when the sunni world is against you, when your sunni troops defect to join the rebel terrorist alliance, when the western powers do everything they can to topple you short of invasion..... what choices are there? to get help from iranians? we push them into this corner, but I still dont trust the word of al qaeda and muslim brotherhood mouthpieces
3. "3,000 Iranian snipers" What a lie.
George ,   Tel Aviv, IL   (08.04.12)
"Syrian rebel leader says over 3,000 Iranian snipers have arrived in Damascus to join the Syrian regime's ranks" I call BullShit. Even the US doesn' t have 3k snipers to drop in one spot.
4. "3000 Iranian snipers"
Argyll ,   Santa Monica, USA   (08.04.12)
Maybe not snipers, but 3000 Iranian Revolutionary Guards or Quds Force seems likely. Iranian oficials have admitted Iranian troops are in Syria. Most estimates are of much more than 3000.
5. THEIR ACCURACY PROBABLY.....#3

Mislead the rebels to coin the word 'snipers'.Iranians are a force to reckon with.Watch how the situatiion now changes.
6. Religion of peace???
Jusanz77 ,   Vzla.   (08.04.12)
More fuel to add to the already burning fire of hatred between Sunnis and Shiites!! religion of peace?. Not even with his enemies, and less between them.

There are already 20,000 Iranian Revolutionary Guard troops in Syria. These highly trained "forces to be reckoned with" haven't been able to do much against a rag-tag bunch of Syrian insurgents, though. I guess their training regimen leaves them superbly equipped to shoot down unarmed demonstrators in Iranian cities; not so much against anyone who can shoot back. They did not fare all that well against Iraq, either, come to think of it. Of course, now that Iran's involvement is no longer an open secret, you can look for countries sympthetic to the insurgents to enter the fray. Overtly; covertly -- doesn't matter. Watch how the situation will change.

The marathon in which the BABY ASSAD is slowly but surely gaining on his FATHER is almost over,he will surpass his record by killing more than 25k by the end of this year for sure.Lets urge him on and see how long the next ARAB leader takes to break this upcoming record.
9. What's their weapons of choice?

Sling shots or pea shooters? And how old are these persian arabs 13, 14 or 15 years old?
10. TO SARAH B
sam ,   cairo   (08.04.12)
I think you exaggerate these numbers are already in Iran helping Syria with weapons and expertise do think that does not send troops because of the Syrian army numbering up to one million and does not need any outside help
11. You think the no. that high, Sarah?
Cameron ,   USA   (08.04.12)
I've heard indicators that Guard & Hez fools were in Syria, yet have noticed no real reports of role or impact upon the fighting. They seem to be an ineffectual, minor factor at best. I tend to take a real wary view of any yammer coming from this doubtful Syrian opposition rabble.

Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.04.12)
I agree that the Syrian opposition is a rabble, but their death toll counts seem to match neutral observer reports, so I'll give them some credit for accuracy in reporting. There are plenty of Iranian Revolutionary Guard and Hezbollah boots on the ground -- something which Israel watches rather closely -- so yes, they are there; yes, they are ineffectual at best; and yes, they have had absolutely no impact. What else is there to say, babe?

Anyone ever explain to you the difference between quantity and quality? What you have in Syria are a bunch of dogs chasing their tails. Violent and lethal dogs, to be sure, but they have yet to encounter -- on either side -- a real, competent military force. Didn't Egypt's army number over two million when Israel kicked your asses to the curb, crossed the Suez Canal and stood poised to march on Cairo, with nothing standing in their way? That was 35,000 Israeli soldiers. Do keep that in mind. Who knows, someday, it may save your life. Good luck with your new government. You'll need it.

Matt   (08.06.12)
The facts are regardless of what happens to Assad stay or go. Syria is going to cost Russia and China trillions, if not economic development for stability, it will once again erupt into civil war. Saving Assad via military means is only the first phase. if you want to keep that way you have to fix the economy and pay for what he broke.
