32. Clod. All Else is Commentary.
Reuven Brauner ,   Raanana, Israel   (08.09.12)
33. The experiment has been done
Hugh7 ,   New Zealand   (08.09.12)
The British Commonwealth adopted infant circumcision in the mid 20th century, and virturally all boys born in the 1950s in Australia and New Zealand were circumcised. Now they've stopped and a generation has grown up intact - with no outbreaks of any of those diseases. The genital cutting of girls in Indonesia and Malaysia is done by doctors in the name of Islam and is quite minor. Are you prepared to allow that for the sake of cutting boys, because The German Basic Law also upholds the equality of the sexes?
34. Israelis to marry through the Orthodox rabbi
Ezra ,   SanDiego USA   (08.09.12)
Hey, If you don't like it, then don't get married. While you're at it, spend a little more time connected with Hashem. The conservative and reform leaders will continue to do what they want, no matter how non-observant their actions are. Remember why we're still here....Hashem.
35. to carl # 17
CHARLES   (08.09.12)
u missed the point. on the contrary! it is mister hess who thinks that he is god's right hand man. what right has he to reinvent the tribe. this has nothing to do with conservative or reform! this is not a religious issue. do back ^ get an education ^ u will understand.
36. #26 - I AGREE WITH YOU!!! SURPRISED?
Patriotic Israeli ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (08.09.12)
I want to see Israel remain a Jewish State and under the guidelines of halacha. BUT NOT THE HEREDI VERSION OF HALACHA AND NOT THE CONSERVATIVE/REFORM VERSION OF HALACHA. There is a middle of the road - Dati Leumi! Check it out! It's the REAL version of Judaism!
37. 26&36 Agree, but you must turn it into VOTES
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (08.09.12)
38. Like marriage, cross the border to do it?
Josh   (08.09.12)
The irony of what goes around comes around needs to be in religious teaching. That way every time something that is done to couples in love in Israel, they will understand that one they pray to takes issue. Call it an ethereal cosmic comment on misbehaving in the land, or not, your choice. What peril is there in policing and sending home workers who fall in love? Like illegal abortions in back alleys, whatever people want to do they will do.
39. correction
Moshe ,   iSRAEL   (08.09.12)
In Germany, there are about 4 mil "Russian Jews". They are like CONSERVATIVES IN iSRAEL.
40. Charles #1 well said, hypocrisy to be called Masoret Movemen
Avram Goldsmith ,   Toronto, Canada   (08.09.12)
Reform and Conservatorism put our tradition on dangerous slope as the history demonstrated and Mr. Hess you do what have to do and not up to to your convenience .
41. 500,000 is a fantasy
Jack   (08.09.12)
There are some 550 orthodox synagogues in Tel Aviv. The open every day, many morning and evening. There is one reform, and four small conservative. I doubt the weekly attendance is above a few hundred. Stop creating numbers out of thin air that are no reflection of reality
42. #8 Forgot that israeli forces non-jew to support judaism
(08.09.12)
43. Religious Freedom
Yehudit ,   Israel   (08.10.12)
Actually the agnostic and the reform/conservative commenters who decried their lack of "relgious freedom" aren't being quite honest. Any group can register their religion as a separate group here and have it be a recognized community with its own marriages, etc. Like the Christians, Moslems and Bahai's and so on. They don't need to go to Cyprus What these people want is for their religious practices/ philosphy t to be recognized and get the priviledges of Judaism. Sorry. It isn't so its not. You can't have it both ways.
44. halacha
jim ,   belgium   (08.10.12)
Nobody knows the truth of "halacha" There has been a huge evolution from early judaism 2600 years ago until "hassidism" of today. The rest is just politics
45. Number 44 evolution of Halacha
Joseph ,   London UK   (08.12.12)
There has been a constant evolution as halacha responds to changing circumstances. That's why people like the Chofetz Chaim, the Chazon Ish, Dayan Abramsky, Reb Moshe Feinstein and Rabbi Yosef Elyashiv have been so important. Reform do not accept Halacha and Conservative now ordain gay and lesbian rabbis and support same sex marriages in their Temples. How Halachic is that?
