I have contact and conversations with many Christians here in Canada who are really very pro-Israel. I spoke with some of them regarding the Church's anti-Israel boycotters. They responded with their view that people such as UCC who are anti-Israel boycotters are not true bible believing Christians. They added that such groups only pretend to be Christians but behave in un-Christian ways.

As a Canadian the actions of UCC does not surprise me. The organization is financial and people broke. They have been shutting down churchs for years. A few years ago the church changed to allow alternative life style people to become ministers in order to save the falling membership. That did not work and now they are trying anything to get into the news. Desperation creates radicle behavior!

I understand that the Canadian Jewish Community might be 'fuming' about the decision but I find their expression inappropriate. It is not UCC's responsibility to consider ' the overwhelming majority of the Jewish community' in Canada, nor is Centre for Israel and Jewish Affairs in Toronto's opining about how the UCC decision 'betrays the views of the vast majority of its members.' Such shameless propagandizing does their cause little good. I am neither a real Jew nor a member of a Christian Church but I applaud their decision partly because I am tired of the endless self-aggrandizement practiced by such Jewish organisations, most often to the direct detriment of their host cultures. In short: 'enough already!'. That is the real message of the boycott.

I happily belong to a Christian church with a lovely congregation of Jewish people. I have never in my life met such friendly loving darlings as the Jews I have made friends with.
