1. no to war
STEVE ,   ISRAEL   (08.16.12)
the primary reason why israel is going to war is that the economy in israel is really bad the people have no money he is raising taxes again starting september and in order for the people to forget about the bad or hard economic times here and im talking about the regular israeli households who just barely make ends meet at the end of each month, netanyahu says ill start a war and have the people concentrate on something else like a war with iran. i know that a nuclear iran is not good either but they wouldnt dare strike israel because they know if they did that this would mean the end of iran as it would be wiped off the face of the earth completely.
2. Congress on Vacation
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (08.16.12)
Israel may not like it. But the US Congress is junketing. They will be back in September. Obama has NO REASON to order a war this month.
3. Iran will strike first blow in Hormuz
Tim ,   Brighton   (08.16.12)
Can anyone stop them? The whole Regime Entity is tottering. Sanctions are biting there is a bitter simmering public rage but its falling oil prices combined with falling sales that have decimated revenues that could be the last straw and spell implosion of the Regime from within Even the Regimes Entity new round of gangster rhetoric bordering now on the sheer insane...shows the panic and desperation setting in The solution? What is it an (outspoken) Hezbollah Spokesman said in Beirut this week? 'Soon they will grasp at the worlds throat in the Hormuz and wont let go until sanctions are lifted and there is no more pressure on Iran on its Nuclear activity'. 'And no navy in the world can dare stop them now' In any case it is believed that Assad is also desperate that this should happen now so that the worlds attention will be diverted from Syria, and give him a free hand to go for broke
4. No Money? No Jobs?
D ,   Israel   (08.16.12)
I think not. Our economy is one of the strongest in the world.
5. #1. NOBODY in their right mind would WANT war!
Tim ,   Brighton   (08.16.12)
Thats NOT the point You have a Regime hell bent on destruction of another State So the question is...do we treat this as mere rhetoric...bombastic macho..or do we take it seriously And to compound the problem these are the very people hell bent on developing Nuclear Weapons Who is to say they would not use Nuclear Blackmail that during the Cold War almost brought the world to Nuclear destruction? Do we wait until they weaponise and then try to negotiate with people who cannot be trusted Of course we would hope that the Regime implodes from within...but can the world just stand idly by hoping? As for Israel and the Jewish People just a generation removed from the Holocaust and the largest Mass Expulsion of Jews from Arab Lands...we owe it to ourselves and our children BUT MOST OF ALL to those who suffered and perished...to make sure that whilst we try our best to negotiate out of this crisis we must be prepared for war
6. To #1 a little feeble minded
Eli ,   Jerusalem   (08.16.12)
Steve, before you go commenting on things you really do not understand, please lay off the crack pipe and get an education. Israel's economy is fine, better than many European countries and far better than any third world countries like our Arab neighbors. If you were not such a child of your times and the new fad of social protest movements maybe you would understand what is going on outside your little bubble. Life is not all about Aroma coffee and luna parks...it is about security and mass extermination by our neighbors. So you think that Hitler was 70 years ago and could never rise again. wake up from your dreams. The new Aryan nation is the Iranian nation. We are surrounded by people who would stab babies through the heart, rape women and do unthinkable things to the men. Stop your crying about the price of cottage cheese and join the army! Do something for the people.
7. A delaying strike is good. The Iranian
DT ,   TA Israel   (08.16.12)
Regime will suffer with sanctions remaining after. Panetta, Dempsey and co left their "manhood in the playground "a very long time ago .
8. #1 What are you smoking?
Menachem ,   Israel   (08.16.12)
The Iranian nuclear threat is real and Israel's economy is one of the strongest in the world.
9. # 4
Adam Smith   (08.16.12)
But it depends heavily on exports and they are dwindling because others are suffering economic hardship. Are you really sure that Israel is so economically strong.?
10. North Korea, Pakistan, Syria, Iraq
(08.16.12)
did America act against North Korea, Pakistan, Syria, Iraq when they were building nuclear reactors ? No, they just emitted a lot of hot air just like today. Israel acted promptly against Osirak & Syrian nuclear reactors (despite American & European objections).
11. I am conflicted
Iranian Hunter   (08.16.12)
My first side is telling me that striking Iran is good since if it has a nuclear weapon, you can say bye bye to Israel. They will support terror 24/7 and won't fear strikes because they can destroy the world. They will create more nukes to create bigger "don't disturb me" sign. My other side tells me, Assad should go before Iran is attacked because Assad is basically Iran's puppet. Obama don't want to strike Iran, because the USA economy is very....... "powerful, in a strong state, and can support another war with Iran, Syria, Hezbollah". Sarcastic.
12. "The Mice that roared"
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.16.12)
Netanyahu, Barak and Oren

Big bad Jew ,   United States   (08.16.12)
could you be more specific about wimps?? In one word, obama. One wimp, not America, the nation With the grace of G-d soon, obama will be retired prior to his 'pull date.'
17. # 13 BINGO!
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (08.16.12)
We have a solution but, we have to wait until november the 6th to make it official.
18. Last desperate throw of the dice by Israel
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (08.16.12)
The fact is the United States is simply going to say all options are on the table, and that there is still room for diplomacy. Netanyahu will then declare he is to have further discussions and the can of worms will be kicked further down the road
19. The tail wagging the dog.
WikiMiki   (08.16.12)
20. Peace Index poll indicates the sanity of most Israelis
Avramele   (08.16.12)
The poll published yesterday shows that the Israel public trusts the security establishment over Bibi and Barak, thinks they are bluffing and do not support an Israeli attack. The percentages are quite strong except in the religious sector where a plurality is more supportive of Bibi. The poll did not break out the opinion of ynet talkbackers or those institutionalized for delusional disorders.
21. Chris Is The Man And Has Been The Man
(08.16.12)
BOMB Bomb bomb the persian arabs BACK TO THE 2nd century, ALL MILITARY AND SUSPECTED MILITARY SITE. As well as ALL government and private government dwellings, from the top of government to the aids/assistants! the ILLEGAL regime has Been Given Enough Chances Now NO MORE DEMANDS from the Evil Axsis!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
22. #20, so those who aren't left wing in the poll
Israeli ,   Haifa   (08.16.12)
are delusional? There are those who want a no cost life. To get some you gotta pay. Attack now, maybe 500 citizens perish in the blow back. Wait for the U.S., who is not planning to EVER do anything, and will allow a nuclear Iran to rise against OUR nation (not theirs, remember) and we loose 50,000. Tell me: which would YOU chose if YOU were a leader of a nation?
23. mark my words...
mark ,   usa   (08.16.12)
The moment the Iranians build a bomb, is the moment the regime falls. Then when the iaea says let's look at weapons program, and the doors are open to the light of day, is the day the new regime in iran says you can't hold us responsible for the actions of the old regime and this empty room. Wake the f'up people.
24. Trigger WW III over a little two or three year delay?
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (08.16.12)
Whaaaaaaaaat? And here I was thinking that life just could get any more beautiful. Oh well, what do I know?
25. Is Israel acting as if convinced the US will stand pat?
Alan ,   Canada   (08.16.12)
Israel has every reason not to upset its main ally in Washington & the lesser friends in Europe. If it does antagonize the US administration at this time it must be for more reasons than just taking a possible advantage of the US pre-election political situation. Is Israel not only very worried by the urgency of the Iranian nuclear & growing conventional threat but is now convinced the US has decided to live with a policicy of a contained nuclear Iran? It would seem so as Jerusalem appears to have obtained no US clear defintion of the Red Line, no firm deadline for the end of the useless "negociations" with Iran. If the Israeli publicized preparations for a conflict are nevertheless a bluff then they might be intended to get a commitment from the US for an end to the "kicking of the can down the road".
26. 100,000 casualties later with an Iran nuke, or 100 now?

Israel Watchdog ,   Israel   (08.16.12)
