2. yes indeed
mike ,   mt us   (08.16.12)
you bet we remember n us
3. actually, Israel would be best doing what is best for Israel
not america ,   jack bauer   (08.16.12)
it just so happens what is best for Israel is also best for america.... probably not in BHOs agenda though
4. America is telling you 'no'
Ishmael ,   Israel / USA   (08.16.12)
If I understand this correctly, American is just saying that it's wants to know when it is dragged into another war in the middle-east. so we have to options. Either we listen to the hand that feeds us and work together to end the threat or Israel will go alone and pay a high price in material and lifes in a conflict that can at best delay Iran for a year or two (and that's the opinion of most analysts)
5. Strike on Iran
Mashtin Bakir ,   Tel Aviv.Israel   (08.16.12)
The message conveyed by the head of the Joint Chiefs of Staff couldn't have been more clear, if you're willing to accept our largesse, military support, foreigh aide etc. you have to pay the piper! The price to be paid is to be willing to take the advise and good council from Uncle Sam! If not, then Mr. Barak and Mr. Bibi send all of the US hardware back and look for the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! I'd like to see Mr. Barak and his budget woes after the US pulls it's military aide, and Mr. PM also have your stubborness dgi an even bigger hole in your budget...Price increases, budget cuts...you'll be left with a budget that looks more like Swiss cheese and not a combination of American cheese with a bit of Tal Haemek!
6. Obama is saying yes to peace, UN '67 borders, no Iran war
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.16.12)
...no more settlements, no more stalling.
7. Is that really your parallel?
Israeli ,   Israel   (08.16.12)
Is the author actually trying to draw a parallel regarding Israeli flexibility towards the US by comparing the appointing of an air-force base head and attacking what many consider to be the biggest threat the country has faced in 60+ years? Yes....totally the same thing.
8. If we listened to the USA...
laura ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.16.12)
before we ask that question , why not ask : Where was the USA when 6 million of us were burning in the ovens of nazi europe? do we need to ask permission to save ourselves?
9. Coward - You live in the shadow of the Goyim
Yitzi ,   Bet Shemesh   (08.16.12)
10. so if the world tells us we should be nuked we should listen

11. Nonsene
homer jones ,   nyc usa   (08.16.12)
There wouldn't be an Israel today if it followed this advice.
12. SILLY ME
DA RAP ARTIST ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (08.16.12)
I was under the impression that Israel was an independent and sovereign state ,but it appears she must always obey froeign dictates.
13. Wait for the nod of approval from the big dog
Cameron ,   USA   (08.16.12)
There is no walking down this Persian trail of adventure without the big dog at your side.
14. #2 never studied English did you?
Rod ,   Fargo N.Dakota   (08.16.12)
15. Israel need only to rely on HaShem!!!
Taz Man ,   USA   (08.16.12)
They need to tell the US if they are not willing to back their ally, then they need to stay out of the way. That's the problem with the US...they are always trying to police the world...in places they have no understanding of, especially the Middle East. Israel has had to survive in the region far longer than the US has been a nation. Israel has a greater grasp on the dynamics of the area, so how dare the US try to tell Israel what to do! Some may cite US' money as one reason to have a say? That goes both ways; Israel has helped the US, just as much, in other ways. It has been a relationship of mutual respect, but not when one party seeks to harm the other, by their blatant inactivaty, when help is needed at it's most dire time. Israel is on the true frontline of Terrorism; they should be dictating policy, as far as their own survival is concerned--period!!! US: help...or get out of the way!!!
16. re 6
Nigel ,   London   (08.16.12)
Steven- you mean like Carter did in 77 ? Or those who pressures Israel to pull out of Gaza ? Of those who pressured Israel to pull back from Lebanon? Do you not learn from history or are you simply naive? The 67 Borders issue will not bring peace. Iran, Hizballah, Hamas have vowed to destroy Israel. the borders are not the issue. The mindset that Israel should not exist is the issue.
17. THE PROUD ZIONIST
DAVID ,   JUDEA   (08.16.12)
I think that Mr Haber is old enough to remember his glorious early Zionist days were the new Israeli was going to replace the outdated religious ghetto Jew and become Socialist farmers and soldiers. Well it seems we have come full circle , our proud Zionist have managed to build a ghetto here in Israel and have become the obedient ghetto Jew, who will bow down to its percieved masters. Thx Mr Haber for letting us know that we still have a way to go before we trully control our land. With your defeatist attitude you can always go back to Europe and relive the good old days.
18. The only reason that Obamba wants to postpone is
Yosi ,   Gilo, Jerusalem   (08.16.12)
for the elections. If Israel attacks Iran prior to the elections, the US will be forced to support it. If Israel attacks after the elections, Obama will not attack and leave Israel out in the cold. You just don't understand how evil this man is.
19. The message
Daniela ,   Panama   (08.16.12)
Delivered from DEmpsey represent the OBAma administration only..but OBama will not be the next president of the US..and the next administration understand perfectly well what represents a nuclear Iran.. Israel have to do what's best for Israel not what is best for the presidential campaign of a foreign leader, even if he happens to best a leader of a friendly country
20. Just DO IT. America is already finished......
Dror ,   Israel   (08.16.12)
Thanks to Osama
21. Just as Ahmadinejad missed every chance
Yael Schlichting ,   currently Munich   (08.16.12)
to build mutual trust, the Obama administration wasted more than three years. Concerning this conflict, Obama's only achievement is to have prevented/delayed Israel from striking Iran. All other attempts to bring something about resulted in total failure yet. And even worse, I don't see how I can trust into Obama's words, if he "promises" to strike Iran, if it fails to move. It will be up to Obama's interpretation of what he considers Iran's failure and if he doesn't want to keep his promise, he will just say, that Iran didn't fail enough to justify a strike.
22. Actually, Israel is saying "NO" to the U.S.
Israel   (08.16.12)
We are going to look out for our own survival, not your interests.
23. Please, PLEASE, don't listen to the Americans
TaylorT ,   Earth   (08.16.12)
...because I greatly look forward to the day when they begin abstaining from UNSC resolutions that seek to punish Israel. First up will be resolutions that sanction Israel's export-based economy. These will be followed by resolutions setting up special courts to indict Israeli leaders. Don't forget, the world is filled with nations that love Israel, so what do you need the US for?
24. #8 Where was the US?
Dan ,   NYC   (08.16.12)
Fighting tooth and nail to defeat the Nazis. Perhaps that isn't taught in Israeli schools in favor of topics like "how did Noah get so many animals on the ark?" and "how can we exaggerate, manipulate, and guilt goyim in order to get them to do our dirty work."
25. @6 NO more stalling ,no more settlement ?
dovdevan ,   ashdod,paris   (08.16.12)
