Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.17.12)
"During these meetings Peres all but admitted that he trusts President Barack Obama more than he trusts Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu or Defense Minister Ehud Barak." Isn't it time for that doddering idiot to take advantage of his considerable investment bank accounts and real estate holdings in the United States and totter off the Israeli political stage? Yeah, Peres. I know EXACTLY what you did with your Tadiran stock. Come on, retire to your expensive Fifth Avenue digs and let Israel do what it must. Isn't the fact that you have no credibility in Israel enough to convince you that, in your case, retirement is the wisest course? You can spend some quality time with your cousin -- Lauren Bacall. She did, after all, help you evade Israel's very stringent laws by purchasing your fancy Fifth Avenue apartment in her name, didn't she? You and she can sit and watch some old Bogie movies -- Casablanca is actually a personal favorite -- you'll have fun. Just get your traitorous ass out of Israel already, okay?
3. PERES HAS TO GO
DA RAP ARTIST ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (08.17.12)
4. Peres and Netanyahu
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.17.12)
Both are arrogant politicians, but Peres has a slight streak of decency in his views, while Netanyahu has never heard of the word "decency".
5. Who let this meshigeh #2 loose again?
Dov   (08.17.12)
6. ONLY JUSTICE AND FAIR TRIAL
me   (08.17.12)
to administer justice between one human being and another human being,to judge with righteous judgment and seek justice and only justice, each judge must take into account the following three criteria of all time and put them into practice:do people meaning,do not accept bribes,do not be afraid,i attest
7. Never again ?
M.devitt ,   Usa   (08.17.12)
Peres.,will and is putting Israel in a position of "mass extermination" with his bend over and grab your ankles agenda. Never again spineless and gutless WHIMP ! Liberal -peace at any price, the destruction of the state of Israel.
8. No tense relations, simply it's none of Peres business
Marco ,   Spain   (08.17.12)
to negotiate, run, direct, implement or order government policy
9. My Opinion
Joe Sombrero ,   Usa   (08.17.12)
In my opinion and theory and it's just that I believe he works for the Americans I wonder what was the reason he got the Medal of Freedom this year and one has to wonder where did his money come from after all how much does a polition make. There really needs to be a investigation on this guy.
10. own wife left him because of his zest for limelight, but Pere
ab   (08.17.12)
accuses others of "wanting to be in politics"
11. I understand Peres' Role ONLY representative!
Yael Schlichting ,   currently Munich   (08.17.12)
It is not the first time, that this man is blatantly acting in excess of his competences. He may not like Netanyahu's policies, but it is not his business to get involved into daily politics.
12. Netanyahu is the elected PM. He decides, not Peres.
robert renders ,   belgium   (08.17.12)
13. What else is new with Peres?!
Buskila ,   South America   (08.17.12)
Hmm, lets see: an opportunistic, a Court Jew (see his love for the 'intellectual' involvement in all that is French in the 50s, American during the Great Era of the Kennedy); for the guy Israel is just a bully pulpit to spread his personal importance, not that he owes anything to Israel. How a just civic figure, gets involved with anything that is none of his business?!
14. Get rid of Peres. He's already done enormous damage.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
There is no comparison between Bibi and Peres. Bibi was elected. Peres is a ceremonial figure with an outsized ego. Peres has been wrong about virtually everything in the past (from Oslo to freeing terrorists to Engagement etc.) and Israel has paid a huge price. Enough with the dangerous old fool. Get rid of Peres!
15. #2 have you no shame?
(08.17.12)
Ok I get that you dislike the President of Israel's opinions and those of all of us who do not share your visceral hatred of leftist arabs and others. However this is a man who has served the state from its very beginnings, built the modern IDF and without whose single mindness Dimona would be just another development town. Personal attacks are uncalled for and devalues the discussion.
16. Shimon, the relentless...
Shalom ,   U.S.A.   (08.17.12)
A man who never was elected by the israeli people to any office cannot stop his poisoning activities. He's well aware that his statements are detrimental to his country, but he doesn't care; he's inethical!
17. Peres has an opinion.
SD Charger ,   San Diego   (08.17.12)
And if I read the article correctly, he simply said that Israel should not go at Iran alone. He didn't say no to attacking Iran, he said no to attacking them by yourself. Quit reading into what he really said. The intelligence agencies know exactly where Iran is at in their preparation stage, they will know when it is time.
18. If only
Linichka ,   Gdynia, Poland   (08.17.12)
the ancient bugger would retire already. We're all tired of him. Have been for decades. He's a pompous old windbag in love with himself. That could be acceptable and ignored - but he really is a dangerous old fart.
19. To Michael #4
Avi ,   Israel   (08.17.12)
Michael, since what time cultured people accord even a modicum of decency to an intriguer, especially a professional one, as this “indefatigable” personality richly proved to be? His other profession of old date, conjugated with the one already mentioned, is backstabbing. And it is true indeed that he loves to do it in public, in a loud and clear voice. Adoring his declamation skills in addition to his “decency”?!
20. To: No. 15
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.17.12)
I invite you to disprove a single thing I said. It wasn't Peres who built the modern IDF and it certainly wasn't Peres who brought Edward Teller to Israel to help build Israel's facility at Dimona. It was, however, Peres who took around $600 million out of Tadiran and socked it away in the United States. Is that your idea of "service to the State of Israel?" It isn't mine. Get your facts straight, you moron.
21. Inspite of his youth Atilla is a veteran Leftist & Laborite

Do you suck?. Metaphorically speaking of course!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
24. Barky prefers his JOOOOS,...
Gideon Reader   (08.17.12)
...much more mallable. More "claylike" and marginally sentient. Oppsie! A word picture of Shimon the Easy. A more knowwing and aware polititurd, with more knowledge and skills would realize that Israel's P-resident is ceremonial, like those self awarded medals the Europeans wear on their formal oufits.
25. At least he has an opinion at 89!
Guest ,   Usa   (08.18.12)
What do you expect the terminator? The Russians threatened to "wipe" and bury us for 50 years. We should have pre-empted and started WW3 and destroyed half the world? There's always time for war. Whatever they've got won't be enough. What do you want to do, put another President in jail? Give him some hot cocoa and a hug and send him to bed, instead.
26. Peres and Netanyahu. Israel needs...
Luiz F Haddad ,   Niteroi, Brazil   (08.18.12)
...a written Constitution. Only commenting, here, about Law, I think it is necessary to establish the precise powers of the President and of the Prime Minister. Or British, Swedish,Canadian and Italian classic Parlamentarianism, or the mixed form, adopted in Russia, France, Poland, Portugal and Austria. It seems impossible, because of your traditions, American (and Latin American) Presidencialism. It deserves a good debate.
27. Stupid Sarah #2: no one can say Peres cares about money.
Binyamin Dissen ,   Israel   (08.18.12)
At age 89, he's going to retire to the big apple???
28. #2 Sarah, AKA Salah: enough of your lying drivel.
SF Stoner ,   Carmiel, Israel   (08.18.12)
29. Sarah b and the big lie

Readers should investigate through the web on their own Peres's bio and the role he played as Director General of the Defense ministry and decide on the honesty of a certain talkbacker.
