1. This is because America is bankrupt & has no industry left
Tomer ,   Israel   (08.19.12)
USA is now a corrupted hollow shadow of what it once was. When their Dollar collapses, the whole rotten edifice will come down
2. and temperatures have fallen????
Aaron Kuperman ,   Baltimore, MD   (08.19.12)
If the "C02 causes warming" theory correct (some say its the reverse, warming causes CO2, and some say climate varies independently of human activities), then the next few years should be showing falling temperatures.
3. #2 - From what chemists have told me it take a lot longer to
Henry from New York ,   USA   (08.19.12)
reverse this kind of thing.
4. Credit to market forces, not cap-and-trade regs
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.19.12)
It wasn't the billions in stimulus and tax subsidies to "green energy" that did this, nor economy killing cap-and-trade schemes. Rather, it was an abundance of cheap, natural gas extracted with new technologies and people just watching their energy bills that did this. And by the way, the vibrant oil and gas industries created far more jobs in the US than those created by tens of billions in "green" stimulus.
5. #2 - they have fallen...
Chaya ,   Israel   (08.20.12)
6. CO2 is still increasing!
to #2 ,   Baltimore   (08.20.12)
It's just increasing more slowly, if you look at the USA's emissions only! They didn't say the CO2 in the atmosphere has decreases, only that the amount released by the US has decreased. The CO2 in the atmosphere is still increasing! It was at 280 ppm 100 years ago and is at 390 ppm today and still rising. We have increased the amount of this greenhouse gas in our atmosphere by one third.
7. #2 Models show increasing temperatures
Logic ,   Israel   (08.23.12)
Even if there was a magic switch to turn off all CO2 production this morning, global warming is expected to increase every year for decades.
8. climate
Jeffrey in Boston ,   Boston, USA   (08.24.12)
The temperature rises, the temperature falls. It has done so for billions of years. Big whoop.
