2. Clean water
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (08.21.12)
First clean water for all israelis, after it for africans. A very important problem indeed high mortality among them. Now they are 1,5 billions, with Israel's help they will be doubled within 10 years. Paris, London, Tel Aviv inhabitants will be happy to live together with millions of cannibal immigrants.
3. Design Build Fund AND Operate is the ONLY WAY
Tim ,   Brighton   (08.21.12)
For a sustainable and successful model for the provision of RO Desal Water. Whats more it means that wherever these plants were located in the world Israel could export supplies from any of the plants to neighbouring locations Design Build Transfer though it might result in a faster immediate return has so many inherent commercial competitive dangers that would seriously undermine the long term potential And I dont see why funding for such projects could be a problem at all..given the risk return profile As for Solar Powerinng the plant...thats a great step forward...and goes hand in hand with the gradual reduction of unit power consumption and improving membrane technology
4. #1. Lots more to do though
Tim ,   Brighton   (08.21.12)
We need to create Research Programmes to develop indigenous Israeli Made Advanced Membranes that are more energy efficient and faster.... We need to TRAIN many many more Water Engineers and Scientists covering every aspect of Water Production Supply Shipping Quality Assurance Recycling Power Supply to underpin what could be a great new industry. We need the sales people, support staff, commisioning engineers dedicated to serving countries all over the world in this very specialised field Its only with such planning and foresight that Israel can develop into a World Class provider of Desal Water
5. New water system
Green Baron ,   Bethesda, MD USA   (08.21.12)
Let's see in what twisted ways the BDS movement would try to instigate a boycott of this major advance!
6. Not just Africa. The US itself currently suffering drought.
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (08.21.12)
Much of the continental US has experienced worsening drought conditions this summer - as bad in many ways as that of 1934. We too could be reusing reclaimed waste water (aka "grey water") for agriculture as Israel does. Texas - rich in energy, but poor in water - could certainly have benefited from a few desalination plants.

just to put this straight. the bds movement is dead. has not made a single dent on israeli economy or the export import between israel and other nations. it is dead, dead, dead. has no influence economically. only politically which doesn't transfer to economics at all. even well known israeli bashers like finkelstein and shomsky told an interviewer that the bds means nothing and has not made a dent and more so, they are complete hypocrites. amazing that.
8. Promised Land
Harold ,   USA   (08.25.12)
I am surprised that there is not enough water at the promised land Has God made a mistake.

If you love Israel so much, how come you don't live there?
10. We have spring water, do not think water is tasteless !
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (08.25.12)
We have thousands of Spring with fresh water you may ever not taste. Despite water is assumed tasteless it is not true. It has not taste like sugar, lemon or something extreme but you immediately distinguish taste differences between spring waters. For example I prefer Erikli water which is best water now in Turkey. Turkish bottled spring water comes from different regions and each have different unique taste. By the way, All Mediterranean countries channel sewer to Mediterranean sea so you desalinate urine and feces of all Mediterranean Good drinking!

Maurice ,   Montreal   (08.25.12)
You don't even know how to read an article. No one is talking here about drinking water. It is about irrigation water needed to water crops. And regarding drinking spring water in Turkey, there were recent news from Turkey that most bottled water from springs are contaminated! This was in Hurriyet as well as Zaman. Afiyet olsun!
12. What do you drink then?
Tayfun_Turkey ,   Istanbul   (08.26.12)
By the way, contamination was not for "bottled" in disposable bottles but for 20 lt demijohn water, which was distributed to buyers and they got demijohn back from buyers for re-filling. Obviously that is not sanitary to refill 20 lt demijohns many times received from buyers it may be exposed to contamination. Bottled water is not contaminated as it is disposable, in any case it does not contain urine!
