The radio reports that no charges were pressed but some Leftist filed a lawsuit against Goldberg. Since anyone can file a lawsuit against anyone, this is not news.

Circumcision is not in question, if one would decide when he is 18 years old to it. Now, how can you ask a three month old embryo, if it would like to be aborted? Circumcision is neither legal nor illegal in Germany. There is no law that forbids it, but there was a court decision in May that interpreted it as bodily harm - in one special case -. Some doctor (a single person) now pressed a criminal charge against Rabbi Goldberg by refering to the court decision mentioned above. State prosecutors are "investigating the criminally relevance" is the latest news. The government already declared that they want to legalize circumcision, but that's not so easy because such law has to be in line with the constitution and the latter is a bit picky in terms of "hurting" others. So this will take some time and until then the situation is somewhat unclear.

This is a topic way too hot for politicians, so they hope for the supreme court to sort it out. To make this happen someone needs to be charged with it and the case has to go through all courts up to the top. The interesting thing will be this: What happens if the supreme court says, the ban is correct? Will politicians change the constitution for muslims and jews? If the argumentation is, that circumcission is indeed bodily harm, but ok for jewish boys. Isnt that the beginning of treating jews and muslims different than other germans? Something we hoped never to happen again?
