31. #23 - Dave - Not true!
Eric ,   Toronto   (08.22.12)
Inoculation for immunization is not MUTILATION! Not having a foreskin represents many problems. First, it deprives man from certain sexual sensations, second people without foreskin may suffer from skin irritation due to friction when they masturbate. I am Jewish, but I fully agree with the German authorities!

From what i know i can say that a lot of jews from Germany (i refuse to say 'german jews') are now making Aliyah, b"h. I dont get how jews can really want to stay in this country or how they could ever resettle there after the shoah.

According to a medical researcher in Johns Hopkins, America's number one medical center, ' We have a tremendous amount of information coming out about the benefits of male infant circumcision.' In an unrelated statement, the American Academy of Pediatrics is about to issue in September a new policy statement saying that circumcision has 'significant' health benefits, replacing a statement that takes a more neutral stance. Research shows that infant male circumcision helps lower the rate of urinary tract infections in baby boys, HIV and HPV in men and their partners, cervical and penile cancer, and of course AIDS. For details see USA Today on line for 21st August.

"First, it deprives man from certain sexual sensations, second people without foreskin may suffer from skin irritation due to friction when they masturbate." - No, it doesn't. Source: I was circumcised at age 17. What's better, irritation in a very, very few cases or a infected penis (10% of all uncircumcised men suffer from tight foreskin which leads to smell, unhygiene, diseases and infections)? A circumcision is not any different than a simple inoculation on a kid. You're not Jewish, if you oppose circumcision. For what reason? Xenophobia? You oppose the the one most important mitzvah in Judaism, no matter how religious or secular a Jew is, circumcision is never questioned.
37. The purpose of the circumcision ban
rivkah f. ,   Jerusalem   (08.22.12)
It is obvious that if Jews (and Muslims) cannot have their sons circumcised as prescribed by Judaism and Islam, respectively, they cannot practice their religions freely in Germany and they will have to live elsewhere if they wish to do so. All that "rights of the child", "mutilation", "harm", etc. is just a coverup for telling Jews & Muslims that they are no longer welcome and must leave.
38. Anti-Semitism? Really?
Stu ,   TLV   (08.22.12)
I regularly read the talkback comments and I generally agree with much of it. But it gets tiresome reading the constant barrage of anti-Semitism charges, that everything is directed against the Jews. If it was racially or culturally motivated (which I don't believe it is) it is far more harmful to the Muslim population (3.6 million, 200,000 Jews). German people on the whole are not anti-Semitic, in fact in my experience, German people go to huge lengths to be accepting of Judaism out of shame for the actions of the past. Let's not push that argument and see it as it is - people questioning antiquated practices in the modern world.

I agree, it's probably not anti-semitism, rather it's general racism and xenophobia. Atleast that's the impression you get when debating with those who wants to forbid it. They ignore all scientifical evidences behind circumcision and its benefits and keep screaming "mutilation". Though I guess they learned that tactic from Goebbels...

How can you say that circumcision is not any different from (not than - incorrect grammar) a simple innoculation? That is just not true. A couple of days after the innoculation, there is no sign that anything has been done - the dot of the needle is gone. With circumcision, several square centimeters of skin are sliced away and the change in appearance is visible and obvious forever. If you got circumcised at 17 there had to be a reason/problem, and if you had a problem that circumcision solved, then of course you prefer your present state. Most intact males have no problems at all. In Scandinavia at least, soap and a shower are all it takes to keep that area clean.
42. #8 Wanna really know?
Ze'ev ,   Nbg, germany   (08.23.12)
Its a good life here and some here feel that they would not get equal treatment down there in Israel, where some seem to be more equal than others! Why women of the family should feel the need to get called shiksa or other friendly words, should feel the need of being victims of misogyny? Why searching religious coercion? Life is good here, sure antisemitsmn is still alive, but thats not new.
43. circumcision
johanl ,   the netherlands, utr   (08.23.12)
I am very worried about this 'ruling.' Circumcision does not harm when acted out professionally. Most rabbi's know what they are doing. Being a Christian I favor the right of every religion to act out privately and publicly what they believe. Germany, return from your path and don't return to misunderstanding and excluding (usually) harmless customs. By the way, we as Christians exercise baptism. Children didn't ask for it, adults choose for it in circlres with adult Baptism. It may harm, but it is extremely rare. I know several Jews and I never heard any complaints concerning circumcision in babyhood. I hope and pray for Jews in this hardship, especially for that German Rabbi facing trial. With friendly greetings, Johan.

ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.23.12)
that s how Jews thought in the 30th. But they had an excuse.israel didn t exist .
45. #43 "Christians exercise baptism"
(08.23.12)
Absolutely, that's why we'll also ban baptism because it's waterboarding; the Christians won't get away with it either.

"Why women of the family should feel the need to get called shiksa or other friendly words" Where exactly did you find this? I'm genuinely curious, Herr Wolf. Is this what they tell you up there in Germany?

This is a barbarick medevil practice and should be banned. The so called rabbi should be prosecuted with the full arm of the law. We will do what we can to bring this to the attention of other european law makers , thank you for bringing this to my attention.
48. #44 Its how the people feel here NOW...
Ze'ev ,   Nbg, germany   (08.23.12)
and we dont need an excuse?! For what? Not all Jews wanna make aliya? Where is the problem?

An inoculation changes your internal immunse system and can have serious complications, I'd say that's a lot more serious than the removal of a piece of skin that serves no purpose, rather the opposite. No, I had no issues with that, my maternal grandparents had hid their Jewish identity after escaping to Scandinavia (yes, that horrible place you live in) not until an older age did we find out and reconnected to Judaism, and so circumcision was natural. Since I've experienced both being uncircumcised and circumcised I can say being circumcised is much better and pleasurable.

I was born in a west European country , lived there for most of my life [ till i retired ] , not religious , did'nt feel antisemitism , was also criticised there by charedim when i drove my car Shabbat , or when my little daughter walked around in a short , Had a good life there too . There is one thing i never felt in the same way i'm feeling here : AT HOME , בבית ! Don't you fear that your children , i don't know if you have , will outmarry ? Or is this not a problem for you ?
52. Circumcision:
DEB ,   WASH DC   (08.23.12)
#7 -If you insist circumcision causes "bodily harm" to an infant, do you at least agree that e.g., late-term abortion carried out by first killing the pre-born child by injecting poison to its heart is also causing bodily harm? (There are doctors that do that over here for about $5K a pop. ) Now ,do you see the connection in #2's comment?
53. What a low life
Intedi Nensak ,   Stockholm, Sweden   (08.23.12)
Moving to Germany is not a right, it's a privilege and if he has such contempt for the land he chose to emigrate to that he openly states he's going to break the law then deport him back to Israel. Go ahead and believe in whatever god you like but if you mutilate children you're not welcome in the civilized part of the world.
54. Circumcision
Jacque Bechtold ,   Brandon,Canada   (08.24.12)
