1. Yehudit - how much did your EU employer
Arthur ,   sf, ca   (08.24.12)
paid you to write this rubbish? And - by the way - do you have info (which police doesn't have) of who threw firebomb at Arabs driving in Judea? When was the last time you took a stand for the countless Jewish victims of the Arab terror? Not that long ago - less than a mile from Kikkar Zion a group of Arabs (would be murderers) from Silwan was throwing boulders at the Jewish car. Did you protest? Did you write an article? You are nothing but a debased, self hating sorry individual.
2. joke article written by a joke author
jack bauer   (08.24.12)
there was a brawl. the self hating jeftist jews call it a lynch. They all get up in arms and yet they remain totally silent when jews are actually killed, stabbed, stoned, etc. The govt. policy is... to ignore crimes against jews committed by arabs daily... the policy is to destroy jewish homes while leaving arab ones... the entire thing is a sham and this article is just one more part of it
3. it's the parents as well
daniel ,   finland   (08.24.12)
as if this would only be the government's fault. this sort of attitude is fed to the children by the parents. i'd say arabs are generally hated in israel. so much for a tolerant society.
4. Not happening in a vaccum Arabs hate Jews deny Jews rights
tf ,   herzliya il   (08.24.12)
Arabs deny any Jewish connection to Jerusalem, from top to bottom. Abbas just said Jerusalem was an Islamic and Christian city 2 days ago!
5. Treat Everyone with Compassion
elizabethlynne ,   Dallas, Texas!   (08.24.12)
As Jews, we know maybe better than many how devastating bias, hatred, and violence damages the individual and society. We must treat others with dignity and compassion. It breaks my heart to see Arabs mistreated by Jews. We must work to have a standard of treating others fairly and kindly.
6. What a horribly weak argument!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (08.24.12)
More whiny excuses from another Oppenheimer who cries that "Palestinians who have not been granted citizenship status" in Jerusalem. What?!?!?! Nobody anywhere in the world is "granted" citizenship. Doesn't matter if they are a Jew, Arab, or athiest. Palestinians in Jerusalem are indeed offered Israeli citizenship and all the rights and obligations that come with it. And the Oppenheimer throws us this big fib "The hatred of the foreigner is part of the Israeli government's policy". What?!?!? One of the cornerstones of Israeli society is that it is like America and other western countries - built on the absorption of foreigners. What a weak, irresponsible, cheap and phony bunch of arguments Oppenheimer uses. Yes, these punks should be prosecuted and have the book thrown at them. They broke the law. But don't be a propagandist for Fatah and Hamas by spreading lies about "third-class citizens who have no rights". Next thing you know Oppenheimer will get up on her shaky soapbox in front of Hebrew University or Ein Kerem Hospital and tell us that they are bastions of apartheid. If she doesn't like the society she's in, she should do what the rest of us do and work to change it through democratic means - and that does not include writing op-eds full of lies and innuendo.
7. Oppenheimer....
MK ,   Tel-Aviv   (08.24.12)
Sounds like a spokesperson for the Palestinian Authority or the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
8. We're a racist, bigoted, and tribal people...
ZionistBill ,   Israel   (08.24.12)
...so, yes, it's not surprising that such attacks happen. The question is: how are we supposed to change? There's quite a bit of arrogance in us, and it's doubtful it will go away any time soon. The world, in the past, has found ways to get rid of us because of our arrogance and tribal nature. Perhaps this time we'll change before they get sick of us always acting like spoiled children. We're currently on the cusp of losing our last friend and ally (the US) so it looks like we're going down again.
9. i bet anythig
david ,   Jerusalem   (08.24.12)
that all of you who disagree with the article are god and torah believers who think (for lack of a better word) that 'this is our land, god promised it to us and I can prove it to you, it's written here'. Please grow up. You do know the tooth fairy is an invention too, don't you?
10. result of arab violence antisemitism and culture
Yoni the JEW ,   Jewish Homeland   (08.24.12)
direct result of the arab culture of violence hatred anti-semitism and the fact that they are enemies of the state of israel. also the fact that they should not be here...
11. #8 and #9
Israeli And Zionist   (08.24.12)
What on EARTH are you two doing here in Israel? #8, you are NO zionist.
12. I suppose if I got paid loads to take a political position
Miracle Dog ,   Tel Aviv   (08.24.12)
I might. Who needs principles when you have cash?
13. #8 about to lose the USA?
jack bauer   (08.24.12)
dude, we have NO allies. Obama walked out on Israel during the diplomatic meeting. And yes we are arrogant, look at the comments on these articles. I am not religious, but there are some obviously TA residents belittling people who believe in Torah. Likening it to belief in the tooth fairy. It is the view held by many on the left coast that their opinions are the only ones that matter and others should be silent. You have the right to think and say what you believe and so do others. As for the world that wants us dead, you obviously do not follow closely history. In treblinka do you think they were arrogant? The moroccan jews thrown out of their homes were arrogant? Maybe those in spain after the conquest were arrogant? Wearing a star is probably arrogant in your book. Haman was the arrogant one not Esther... thanks for taking the time to read by completely biased opinion :P
14. Elizabethlynne # 5
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (08.24.12)
You sound like a nice person but your heart might not break for Arabs if you actually had to live with them. Life is a two way street and Arabs need to learn that like the rest of us. Respect should go both ways and then it will be easier for fairness and kindness to follow.
15. # 13 Esther
roger ,   zurich switzerland   (08.24.12)
The Book of Esther is fiction...a story..written as propaganda at the time of Ezra and Nehemiah to unite and inspire the tribe with a nice juicy revenge fantasy. And along with the Song of Solomon, God isn't even mentioned in it. You are confusing fiction with reality. I know where you can get help for that or I can recommend some good medication. Also, at the end of the story, Esther solicits the mass murder of thousands of innocent men, women and children. The rabbis don't talk much about thaat and parents don't tell their kids about that bit at Purim. What's to like?
16. #3 daniel finland
Elizabeth   (08.24.12)
so you say arabs are generally hated in Israel. Menschnens-kind, but aren't you wrong. Arabs are hated worldwide. They always have been trouble since their very first day of existence. They do truly believe they are God's gift to this world. Well they are in for one helluva shock!
17. To David @9 and his ilk
Moragh   (08.24.12)
You guys are needing to unravel your twisted up minds. If it is beneath you to read a Bible then I suggest you read the Encyclopaedia Brittanica and let me tell you that you guys are in for one helluva wake-up call! But a good shake-up is obviously what you and your ilk need! Happy reading!
18. @11 you proved my point
david ,   Jerusalem   (08.24.12)
what gives you the right to question where I live? I wont tell you why I came here, but I will tell you one reason why I'm still here with an analogy: we atheists are the sober ones in a big car driven by alcoholics, and we feel the obligation to take control of it before it crushes. And since this place is where the insanity started, what better place to fight the war against religion than here?
19. Jerusalem Arabs extremely aggressive
ArabHarassmentOfJews ,   Jerusalem Israel   (08.24.12)
COme to Jerusalem and see how gangs of Arab youths harass daily Jewish women ( & men ) in the streets of downtown Jewish Jerusalem and in the parks . Come to the famous Haas Promenade and see how in the evening now only Arabs dare to go there and hear the ear shattering Arab music blaring from parked cars with Nargila smoking young gangs sit and this in the middle of a Jewish neighborhood . Serious cultural differences enter into this story. They bang on bus windows to frighten passengers scream out abuse as they race through the streets at Jews. Come and see for yourselves.
20. #6 - she fails to note that these Pallys don't want it
William ,   Israel   (08.24.12)
They were indeed offered citizenship many times but rejected it, either for nationalistic or personal reasons. However, they all enjoy the rights they have as a "permanent resident". Last I checked, an individual does not have to accept citizenship, even if granted. Yehudit seems to forget that basic human right.
21. #8 - are you on Peace now's payroll?
William ,   Israel   (08.24.12)
First, take a breath and relax. Drink some tea, and watch the leave blow in the wind. Second, stop spending time with the twits that feed you such conspiracy theories. Jews are neither a racist, bigoted people and we're certainly not tribal - or atleast haven't been for hundreds and hundreds of years. And despite what you read in the New York Times, Israel isn't even close to losing the US as an ally. We're not even close to losing the EU as a partner. 80% of the American citizens support Israel, while 37% think "Palestinians" are terrorists. And Israel is the most stable State and democracy in the world's hotspot - a place of considerable interest to the US. So, we're not in any danger of losing any friends at the moment, while Arab nations lose friends, credit , and soon will run out of oil.
22. #3 - being in Finland, you don't have much experience
William ,   Israel   (08.24.12)
When did you visit Israel? You didn't but you have the tamerity to claim how Israelis think. Fact is - Arabs are not hated in Israel. People work together in harmony the best they can but they don't hate each other. What israelis hate, and this covers israeli Arabs too, are those foreigners - like you - who seek to get involved in the issue which doesn't pertain to you, and to instigate an outcome that will never affect you. As a population, Israelis also despise those who commit terrorism and call for attacks against Jews and the State of Israel, especially from within the Israeli Arab Community. If you had visited Israel, you would have already known that. Muslim women from the UK and Algeria made the trip to Israel once to see for themselves and went away shocked at the freedom Muslims had in Israel and the modern, functioning State that is Israel.
23. It was to be expected...
Yerushalmi ,   Jerusalem   (08.24.12)
...when police has been tolerating aggressive behavior by arabs in Jerusalem, just try walking through bell park at night... Not a surprise that some wild and violent teens took the law to their hands. Situation is similar in Jaffa, Haifa, Tiberias area, etc. I am only surprised it didn't happen before. Jerusalemites are frustrated with police inaction, result of which is anarchy in not policed arab and haredi areas.
24. I agree %100 with Oppenheimer
Rami of Nazareth ,   Israel   (08.24.12)
Finally someone who say the truth about the situation. You can't claim Jerusalem is unified when one third of its residents are shunned, discriminated agianst, and now lynched. Discrimination has to stop
25. The only part Yariv got right is in paragraph 5
William ,   Israel   (08.24.12)
"Jerusalem, the capital of Israel" The rest is an Op-Ed version of his personal manifesto.
26. #25, author is Yehudit. Yariv the other retard Oppenheimer.
Jake ,   USA   (08.24.12)
27. Oppenheimer is a pathetic joke and so is this article.
Chaim ,   Israel   (08.25.12)
It is obvious that what really bothers Oppenheimer is that Jews control our more than 3,500 year old Eternal Capital. Oppenheimer is a pathetic joke and so is this article. Israel is not to blame for the bad behavior of a few Israelis.
28. Segregated education creates a racist society
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (08.25.12)
29. Segregated education
john ,   toronto   (08.25.12)
i agree.
30. Facts-both sides nurture hooligans, but decent people, t00
n0n-vi0lence   (08.25.12)
There are Palestinian and there are Jewish hooligans. I think the victim was a decent person. Racism is not the solution. The two societies must nurture non-violence to live in peaceful coexistence side by side.
