destruction of women and children by "God" . they are defining him as a TOY that can be used as want. so sad.
3. let them have it !
(08.26.12)
Trash the Ayatollahs immediately, don't depend on USA. They won't do anything.
4. WOW interesting!
Naftali ,   Seattle,WA   (08.26.12)
How very cruel is this Rabbi to pray for destruction out of hatred but yes of course I believe that country is doing alot of evil and should be dealt with carefully. Instead of praying for that country to be destroy he should have pray for those iranians who are good at heart and are against the regime in iran to resist, and yes Israel should strike irans nukes.
5. Where is the difference...
Ralph ,   Vancouver   (08.26.12)
...between the rhetoric coming out from Iran's mullahs and that coming out of this rabbi's mouth? They are both disgusting!
6. It will help "wi a toytem bankes"
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.26.12)
Jews prayed on their way to auschwitz , it did'nt help them then , it will NOT help us today . Sane Israelis only rely on the IDF , nothing else .
7. AMEN!
michel ,   Ashkelon   (08.26.12)
8. Smarter message: Pray for Jews to repent.........!!!!!!!!
Natan ,   Israel   (08.26.12)
If Israel repents, nobody can hurt us. If we don't.... Israel will get what it deserves.
9. Mr Eraket and iran
Brett Levitas ,   JHB South Africa   (08.26.12)
I wonder if this skilled negotiator has ever criticised irans constant call for genocide against the Jewish state. I seriously doubt it and would urge him to do so seeing as he views this type of call as such an abomonation. One doubts he would do this as he secretly wishes the iranians to carry out their "aggretion" against the jewish people. Mr erakat, your critisism is duly noted but our politicians are also allowed to view their opinions, we are after all, a democracy!!
10. #6 Spoken like a true socialist!! Depend on man &government

12. Better G-d than Netanyahu
Aaron Kuperman ,   Baltimore, MD   (08.26.12)
Let's face it, any attack sufficient to permanently impair Iran's ability to nuke people would start a massive war, probably involving many other Islamic states (one of which already has nukes, and could "loan" them with impunity). With its current economic and social problems, Israel is in no way ready for a long drawn out conflict, which at best will last months or years (consider 1947-1949, or perhaps 1939-1945). R. Yosef realizes the only practical solution to the problem - which is one that has worked for the Jewish people in the past (relax, be frum, G-d will take care of the goyim since there is nothing we can do about it)
13. An excuse for draft dodgers
Raphael ,   Netanya   (08.26.12)
They will take such prayers to explain that staying in the cafeteria of their yeshiva is more efficient than serving IDF.
14. 6 Charles I think that if Jews ...
ORA ,   JERUSALEM   (08.26.12)
would have be united in their faith to G-D and Judaism and fight back with all their might and soul, the prayers would be heard. Today we ought not to make the same mistakes and hope for another result.
15. Why is this news?
Michael ,   Jerusalem   (08.26.12)
...except to try to incite against Rav Ovadia?? The Rav said the exact truth and we need to hear it. Only G-d can save us from our enemies who seek to destroy us. Unless you think that Iran just wants to send us a nuclear kiss....
16. #4 Naftali
Michael ,   Jerusalem   (08.26.12)
Naftali and others, don't let the media incite you. Rav Ovadia is NOT praying for the destruction of the entire Iranian people. Please do not base your opinions upon sensationalist headlines. He is praying for the destruction of our ENEMIES. Please understand the difference.
17. I will join those prayers !

Yousef ,   Palestrine ,Hebron   (08.26.12)
May God cut them down and destroy them off the face of the earth," The Arabs say the same thing in the mosques . i wonder who God will hear from
20. Amen
daniela ,   panama   (08.26.12)
May all Beni Israel remember the world of Ha Rav Ovadia Yosef this Rosh Hashana. Probably those were the same reccomendations Mordechay gave his generations at the time of Haman. So... may we see the same results as Esther and Mordechay saw.. the total destruction of evil represented by Ahman dinejad and his Ayatollas. To those worried about the good iranians.. don´t worry.. good will prevail.
21. No. 5 Ralph
NYC Girl   (08.26.12)
While I certainly don't approve of the Rabbi's pronouncement, because I know there are a lot of decent Iranians whose lives are being made miserable by this loathsome regime and would love to see it overthrown. However, please keep in mind that Ovadia Yossef made these comments in response to the mullah's racist threats against Israel....and not the other way around.
22. The Rav is right.....
Andy ,   Washington, DC   (08.26.12)
Praying for our enemies' destruction is a part of Judaism. It is right, and it is just, just as sure as our right to live freely is. He is not talking about all of Iran, or all of Lebanon. Only our enemies. That certainly means the regime in Tehran and its impending nukes and the Hezbollah who want Israel destroyed. There is nothing hateful in asking Hashem to answer our pleas to survive by destroying our enemies. And Charles, your Holocaust analogy is shameful.
23. Number 5 Spot the difference
Sherlock Holmes ,   London England   (08.26.12)
Jews pray that those who plot evil against us should not succeed in their plots. We never pray for any harm to the innocent. Ahmidinejad says he wants to wipe Israel off the map, that he wants to drop an atomic bomb on Israel. There is quite a big difference.
24. The Rabbi's hatred is not limited to Arabs & Palestinians bu
Gentile   (08.26.12)
But to all non-jews “Goyim were born only to serve us. Without that, they have no place in the world – only to serve the People of Israel,” In Israel, death has no dominion over them... With gentiles, it will be like any person – they need to die, but [God] will give them longevity. Why? Imagine that one’s donkey would die, they’d lose their money. This is his servant... That’s why he gets a long life, to work well for this Jew,” “Why are gentiles needed? They will work, they will plow, they will reap From Haartez Newspaper Oct 10, 2010. From Y-Net Oct 10, 2010T
25. 14 , Ora . So you say that the Shoa
Charles ,   Petach Tikva   (08.26.12)
is the secular's fault ! Antisemites say that it's the Jews fault if they are persecuted . What's the difference between you and them ?
26. OH, so nice of you, Chris..., #17 & 18
John ,   Europe   (08.26.12)
But - better you pick up your things and move to Israel. And defend it while you are there, eh?
27. 11 Efraim That s a dangerous prayer

Sometimes we are our worse enemy.

29. God will always protect Israel
Anthony Johnson ,   San Jose, Costa Rica   (08.26.12)
Instead of praying for the destruction of Israel's enemies, I believe we should ask God to have mercy on them and may all Israel come to repent because the terrible day of the Lord is near. He will deal directly with the Arabs and the Russians very soon and the world will know that the God of Israel is the one and tru God. Shalom Israel and peace for Jerusalem
