1. Silly question
Michael ,   Haifa   (08.27.12)
When Morsi drives through that square, he probably feels like an extreme Israeli right-winger passing by Kikar Rabin.
2. "The Non-Aligned Movement, which was established"
Samuel ,   Australia   (08.27.12)
"The Non-Aligned Movement, which was established following the collapse of the Soviet Union" That's wrong.
3. Stop glorifying Turkey
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.27.12)
Smadar Peri has it wrong. Turkey was not invited. Turkey is a member of NATO, and is thus not a member of the non-aligned group. Highly unlikely that Turkey was even invited to participate; Iran is a little miffed that Turkey allowed the installation of sophisticated radar stations along its border with Iran -- although, in all fairness, Turkey did not have a choice. Not if it wished to remain in NATO. Come back down to earth, Smadar.
4. showmanship
(08.27.12)
you got to understand , ran is in desperate need of ymbolism .Even breaking Assad head might be ok if Iran can do nothing about it anyway but invited into a ceremony and told it was beacuse Iran forsight and wisdom we have piece in Syria. More substaintively , there is an Egyptian reservior of accumulated feelings of being marginlized ( witness the lates evnts in Syria as an example ) regionally and that hurts egyptian psyche as they are bening told they are the most important Arab country although performance is very dismal at every level .The new Egyptian leadership id keenly aware of teh economic and startegic needs to keep basically the same set of regional and international relationships .So let us give them a break to vent off .It can boast the morale , but mainly hot air.
5. Get your facts straight
Mark ,   Maale Adumim, Israel   (08.27.12)
Non-aligned movement existed long before the collapse of the Soviet Union, as opposed to NATO and Warsaw Treaty bloc. Nevertheless, it used to be SU's home field - thanks to numerous "non-aligned" receivers of generous support - like India, Cuba, etc. If the author does not know this simple fact - how much trust shall we put in the analysis? My non-humble? Non at all
6. Netanyahu is not winning the propaganda battle
Sarah B   (08.27.12)
He is losing. And I cannot understand how an Israeli Prime Minister can lose a battle for hearts and minds in the International Community when Ahmedinijad repeatedly presents a wide open goal in which to kick the ball. We need elections and we need them now, and I would like to take this opportunity to announce my canditure to the office of Prime Minister. The future of Israel is at stake
7. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.27.12)
Perhaps you should learn the word "candidacy" first. Not to mention usage -- it would be "candidacy for." You also exhibit a complete ignorance of how Israeli politics is structured. You don't announce your candidacy. You are such a complete fool.
8. Take this article down
Mr. Reasonable   (08.27.12)
until the author gets the facts straight.
9. Good luck trusting Turkey
Yiannis ,   Cyprus   (08.27.12)
They've stabbed you in the back once, they'll do it again. Their word is worth less than the air consumed in uttering their 'undying friendship and commitment to bilateral prosperity'. We've been on the receiving end of Turkish agreements since the 1960's. All they care about is the resurrection of the Ottoman empire. Guess who is the biggest stumbling-block to their achieving their goals? The only credible power in the middle-east that can stand up to them: Israel. You can fill in the dots from here...
10. Making up with the Turks
Thessalonian ,   Canada   (08.27.12)
This is by far the most insane article I have read on this site. While the Turks are carrying out indictments against the IDF commanders who justifiably raided the provocation flotilla flagship, the Mavi Marmara, the writers of this article are talking about a "kiss and make up" senario. Get a life...Regards
11. @3
sipahi ,   Istanbul   (08.27.12)
Sarah, as usual you're living in your delusional world. Turkey's choice has nothing to do with its membership of NATO. Turkey is and will be one of the most influencial and strong members of NATO. This has been so in 1974 when Turkey "liberated" Northen Cyprus" in 1974 when whole Western powers disaggreed with her and boycotted Turkey. Also in 2003 when Turkish parliament rejected US ofer/demand to open a northern frontier in Iraq. Turkey has and always will have choices, I doubt Israel does have or will have any other than US.
12. how Morsi will feel
observer ,   Egypt   (08.27.12)
MBs were not on good terms with Sadat. Morsi is scheduled to visit Bushahr nuclear facility during his 5 hour visit. Indeed Morsi will feel good.
13. #7 'Sarah B' of 'Israel'
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (08.27.12)
Actually I realise I will either have to take leadership of one of the existing parties or do as Ariel SHaron and make one up myself. I am hoping to take over Labour and run on a platform of social reform and justice, with all Israelis playing their part in Israeli society. That includes the Haredi going to work. Think you will find my platform more populist than lets nuke Lebanon, Egypt, Iran, Jordan, Syria and everyone else who doesn't have nuclear weapons, approach. See you at the Polls. Oh and you might talk American as that is where you live. I am Israeli of English descent the word is Canditure
14. Turkey is not member of the organization!
Ismail Aljazaeri   (08.27.12)
Turkey is member of the NATO, and that's against the principles of the NAO. Another mistake in this article. Is there an editor in Ynet?
15. #1 Silly statement, by a morally bankrupt poster.
Jake   (08.27.12)
16. #11 only a complete idiot calls ethnic cleansing of greek
jack bauer   (08.27.12)
cypriots liberation. Turkey is a cesspool and should not be a member of NATO. It has shown time and time again that it is a backwater. The people of the EU didnt want or need you, and NATO doesnt need you. You kill and try and control kurds. Killed armenians... but I expected nothing less from invasive hoardes that swept in from the steppes ethnically cleansing in the past under the flags of the death cult.
17. this article was full of errors and is complete garbage
jack bauer   (08.27.12)
turkey was never and can never be a true friend or ally to Israel. As long as its controlled by the cult of death that is.. the only reason it wasnt an enemy before is because secular soldiers ran it. now that the crazies do it will become aa cesspool once again
18. N#3 Sarah excuse me,
(08.27.12)
but why then is Ban Ki Moon attending then being the head of a alligned movement? What logic are you displaying? Turkey was certainly invited! And yes, it would be for the bgest of both countries if they would reconciliate and even if it was with grinding teeths!
19. No, we love our neighbors very much.
Obsessive ,   Turkey   (08.27.12)
Because they know how to cultivate Jute along our borders and know how to simmer "bubbling toxic witch caldron" in their backyards. They know how to celebrate weddings. & how to support addicted bandits who washes Turkish public buildings with Kalashnikov, mortar, RPG-7, PKM, Kanas, new Russian design portable anti aircraft gun, 100 Kg of roadside TNT. They know how to choose a sect and a tribe for social admission, for favor. Racist Dutch police had slaughtered innocent Turkish boy in Police Station later delivered his body to his family without his organs. Israel is very different. They are civilized. Even their soldiers are very kind. They had waited till stabbed and cried before killing us. Thank you very much.
20. Mistake
Zyx ,   US   (08.27.12)
The non aligned movement was not created after the collapse of the USSR in 1991 but much earlier than that at the Bandung conference in 1955. OK, OK, what have they done since then? Not too much. This is maybe the reason why they escaped the author's radar screen.
21. How can Sarah do anything until she gives up here
Edithann ,   USA   (08.28.12)
US Passport...Will the UK Sarah give up his/her UK Passport, or doesn't the UK care? . .I guess it might not matter seeing as how the UK is really the originators of this whole tragedy... can't keep up with to many Sarah's.... TATA
22. THE IRANIAN REGIME AND ISLAM.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (08.28.12)
THE IRANIAN, DICTATORIAL, THEOCRATICAL REGIME OF ALI KHAMENEI AND OF AHMADJINEDJAD AND THE FUNDAMENTAL, AGRESSIVE ISLAM HAS TO BE STOPPED ANYWAY, WITH ALL MEANS, IF NECESSARILY. IT IS NOT ONLY A THREAT, DANGER, DISASTER TO THEIR OWN PEOPLE, TO THE ISRAELI PEOPLE, TO THE JEWISH PEOPLE, BUT ALSO TO THE ENTIRE MANKIND UNFORTUNATELY.
23. 6 - normal Sarah, what do you bother with crazy sarah for?
waste of time.   (08.28.12)
24. To: No. 13
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.28.12)
No, the word is actually "candidature," but you are using it in an incorrect context, and it is considered archaic usage in any event. The point being -- either way, you are wrong. There is no such word as "canditure." Not even in England. Sod off.
25. 21
(08.28.12)
give it up lady. you sound very immature and completely incoherent. so many idiotic statements that I CAN'T EVEN KEEP UP WITH YOU!
26. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (08.28.12)
The United Nations is supposed to be a neutral body. The Secretary-General has no business attending a meeting of the Non-Aligned Group. Perhaps he is commencing his re-election campaign early.
27. TO NR. 26.
SJOERD VAN DER VELDE ,   HOORN NH, HOLLAND   (08.28.12)
THIS TIME YOU HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD, AT MY OPINION, ABOUT MR. BAN KI MOON AND THE ENTIRE UNITED NATIONS ORGANIZATION.
28. In my dictionary it is candidature
Mark ,   London, UK   (08.29.12)
29. Iran & Egypt
Abdul ,   Punjab India   (08.29.12)
Israel must come to a conciliatory tone with Iran, or else Iran+Egypt spells doomsday for Israel. Come what may, bad days for Israeli sinners have started. Regret is to justifiably rehabilitate Palestinians, and work with and treat Moslem faith with respect.
