1. I have a feeling he has done a secret deal with Obama
zionist forever   (08.30.12)
In exchange for not making this bid to the UN now and disrupting Obama's election campaign if he wins the election when Abbas does go to the UN Obama will not use the veto in the Security Council leaving the path clear for the UN to officially create a palestinian state without negotiation. Hussain Obama ( Abu Hussain as Hamas used to fondly call him ) is not to be trusted by Israel or America's traditional allies, he wants to be a friend of the Islamic world.
2. Palestinian bid
Madeleine ,   Rehovot Israel   (08.30.12)
Abbas is hoping that Obama will get reelected, trusting that the White House resident Muslim will be able to show his true sympathies to the Muslim cause. Just let's hope to hell that Obuma will be kicked out - he's ruined the economy, grossly interefered in the middle East - encouraging the s0-called Arab Spring, and all his election campaign has consisted of so far is slime and sleaze towards Romney.
3. Smoke and mirrors

It's not as if resolutions of the General Assembly actually matter. Come to think of it, it's not as if the General Assembly actually matters. Their resolutions are non-binding, unenforceable, and do not even have legal force -- they are merely "recommendations," which are largely ignored. The General Assembly of the United States stopped being a moral force a very long time ago. But it was very nice of Abbas and the ersatz "Palestine" Authority to alert the American voters that Obama wants to wait until after the elections before seeing the ersatz "Palestine" Authority approach the General Assembly. Does Obama take the American electorate for fools?
4. #1 - Isn't that also the case with US relations with Russia?
William ,   Israel   (08.30.12)
Obama also promised more concessions and flexibility after this election. The Dems took a conservative approach this first cycle to gain trust - though they really did nothing to earn it - and wait for the second cycle to focus on Dem projects, like pacifying the military and sheepishly appeasing US enemies. Obama was even against sanctions on Iran until the Congress made a concerted effort to get them through.
5. You mean "pending greater focus from Intl community"
William ,   Israel   (08.30.12)
The same Intl Community who are pre-occupied with their own issues, and greater global issues, to pay any mind to the failed "Palestinian cause". Abbas refrains from the UN bid because he has no real support to carry it through. Nutters belonging to BDS or ISM don't count.
6. Re: My post at No. 3

Second paragraph, first line -- should read "United Nations," not "United States." Apologies to all.
7. Abbas

Abbas has plenty of support to carry through his UN bid. The entire arab world has been encouraging him to do it, alot of senior members of the PA want a September bid and he would easily win his bid if it went to the UN and got some kind of not full member status. This is why I think he has done a deal with Obama. If he went to the UN in September Obama would have to support Israel because he is relying on the Jewish vote. If Obama wins the election as he doesn't have to stand for election again he can be a good friend to Abbas including refusing to use the American veto in the Security Council to block the UN granting full statehood. Obama is desperate for a deal on his watch, best way to do it is let the UN create a palestinian state he can they step in find a role for himself so he comes out of it the man who solved the palestinian problem. We know what Obama is like so I can see him doing this if he thinks it will get him his place in the history books and Abbas doesn't spoil his election campaign by going to the UN.

meanwhile, the arab spring is occupying the muslim factions in a war to the death, ( saving the west the trouble, thankfully) Who will fight for them? They can't feed themselves and there is no opportunity for anyone but a terrorist. Give 'em an inch...
13. #8 zionist obama will lose the election
Big bad Jew ,   United States   (08.30.12)
and Abbas wont get his 'state' without any agreement with israel. Problem in a nutshell, the pals can't 'have ' any state in israel, it's already taken by the Jews!!! And, another thought, Romney will cut off the pals $$ and, who knows where the pals will 'steal away' to the next time? Jordan? Egypt? Turkey? They don't have a shred of legitimacy, or veracity.. Just plain old muslim liars trying to steal a nation from the Jews. ( like that's gonna happen LOL )
