33. The Lost City
tiki ,   belgium   (09.03.12)
The city of make believe made by human hands. South Africa, the Lost Country destroyed by people who don't have a clue what they are talking about. Comparing the white Apartheit regime with the Israeli fight against Palestinian terrorists who are set on destroying her. How stupid can you be. Students of South Africa, you need many more years of studying (history would be a good starting point) to come to the lowest level of the average Israeli student, one that would never utter so much nonsense.
34. My humble apologies
Rodney ,   Cape Town S.A.   (09.03.12)
To Israel for the fools who, at the bequest of the Muslims choose to boycott the only country on earth that has done more for the world diplomatically and scientifically and in many other ways than any other. You are in my prayers to the God of Israel daily. Remember, Hatred destroys the hater. God bless Israel.

Wenzel ,   South Africa   (09.03.12)
I won't be worried, the way South African education is going there won't be much educated students in Wits anyway...

37. Wits boycott of Israel?
Robert ,   Pretoria   (09.03.12)
Whoaa there. Just because a few lunatic fringe students inspired by the ANC take this stance does not mean the majority of SA'ns share this view. On the contrary many of us draw inspiration from the progress in Israel despite the adverse conditions created by the Arabic world.
38. Abu Reed.Its Arabs who don't want peace& borders

Not Israelis,as repeated surveys of both populations show.

Thank you to both of you. I'm not Jewish but I have a great respect and admiration for them and I will continue to speak up for the Jewish people whenever I can and if someone doesn't like that then it's their problem. Shalom. :)
41. Real headline
Danny   (09.04.12)
Some students voting on an issue the vast majority of students dont care about voted to not do something they were not doing anyway in pursuit of some easy headlines from "journalists" who can't be bothered to fact check and just regurgitate press releases.

Better do another head count, ace. The settlers are here to stay, anyway. It's the illegal Jordanian squatters that are going to go. We've had quite enough of ersatz "Palestinian" terrorist filth.
43. Israel Boycott is pointless!!!!!
Adam ,   JHB   (09.04.12)
Dear Wits. i have a few things id like to share with you from a few sources about your "Israel Boycott". Factually speaking there is no apartheid in Israel and never has been. If you look at Israel's attempts to resolve the conflict versus the Palestinian authority and hamas's unwillingness to recognize or negotiate with Israel then one can only point to blind hatred. If these accusations were factual I'd think there would be a leg to stand on. I'm not negating what has and is happening in Israel and the surrounding areas but the Palestinians have been fucked equally or even more so by their "brothers" namely Egypt, Syria and jordan(let's not even get into Iran). Its a sad state of affairs of how fellow arab nations have treated the Palestinians, much worse than Israel. Go on YouTube and check out Danny Ayalon's videos describing fallacies of the conflict. Until they stop firing rockets into Israel 24/7(FACT) Israel cannot stop defending themselves! Unfortunately you choose what you want to listen to and you seem to only listen with one ear WITS. There are bigger issues than boycotting a country with the most amount of starts up per capita, highest per capita nobel prize winners and more companies on the NASDAQ than Europe and Asia combined!!! Just because you feel like they treat the palestians the same as the old apartheid goverment treated blacks. Palestians are valued members of Israeli society. they have jobs, go to school, have Olympic teams!!! etc.. It completely baffles me how you can feel sorry for the ones on the otherside of the borders constantly firing rockets into civilian areas killing women and children while Israel only seeks out those who intend to harm them. FACT. So all you WITS students jumping on the bandwagon of this ridiculous boycott should look a little closer at the actions and concequences of the missinformed leaders they follow blindly into self defeat. Its a scary thought but If Palestine had to put down their weapons, there would be peace. If Isreal were to do the same. there would be no Israel. I appeal to you students, do your research! think for yourselves!! watch more than one news source!! listen to both sides!!! Embody the academic qualities Wits was MEANT to instill. Search for truth, justice and peace. but thats just my thoughts. I will not be participating in the boycott. thanks anyways. im gonna now get back to work and use the necessary technologies some of which built by intellegent, hard working, israeli scientists, engineers, and designers who are constantly making our world better, safer, and healthier. peace. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGYxLWUKwWo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_3A6_qSBBQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QAuBc_cbXo0&feature=relmfu
44. No wonder SA has no universities in top100 whilst Israel 3
Alan ,   South Africa   (09.05.12)
I'm not surprised at the ignorance of the South African university students. Not a single South African university was rated in the top 100 universities whilst Israel had 3 universities in the top 100 - I would suggest the SA students improve their research skills and find out more about Israel they would not be so biased and might even get to upgrade their standards.
