1. The Russian enigma
Jhan   (09.06.12)
They're an enigma wrapped in a mendacity wrapped in a cabbage piroshka wrapped in more mendacity.
2. A lie
Salt ,   USA   (09.06.12)
The IAEA in every report declares that they can not verify that Iran's nuclear program is peaceful, and that Iran is not cooperating with them and not fulfilling their obligations under the NPT. Russia's statement is a lie.
3. Believing that they are being used
Ivor EVenbiggergun   (09.06.12)
to achieve parity with Israel. And knowing that they are being used to produce nuclear weapons are two different things. And Politicians will have great difficulty selling that to their electorates in the West after the Iraq debacle.
4. So do we take that as
Tim ,   Brighton   (09.06.12)
So Russia knows something we dont? Is Russia therefore undertaking to GUARANTEE to the World that this Rag Tag Regime of Mad Mullahs is DEFINITELY NOT developing Nuclear Weapons, will give South Lebanon back to Lebanon, will stop Iran fanning the flames of sectarian violence in a long bloody trail - in Syria, in Iraq, in Afghanistan, in Lebanon, in Gaza, in Ymen, in Sudan, in Egypt, in Turkey and Chechnya, will stop its vile racist rhetoric against Israel and the Jewish People and will GUARANTEE that they do not try to seize the Hormuz? Right then...problem solved
5. Wonderful News!
Yakov ,   Tel Aviv   (09.06.12)
Now, let's see how reliable it is? Russia maintains the Assad regime is a legitimate government, fighting terrorists. Russia, is one of Iran's major supporters and supplier's (just like Syria). The Russian's have a notorious history, of using "dis-information", as an offensive strategic tool. Them what interpretation, should be placed upon this assessment? The Russian statement of assessment is a political chess move, typical of the Russian's. They are very worried about how far they will get dragged into a war . If we attack Iran, and Iran in turn attacks the States, then on and on. Place enough doubt about Iran;s intentions, well, support for a war dissolves.
6. Russia warning Israel and US
Jim ,   USA   (09.06.12)
So says the country that signed a 500 million dollar nuclear fuel contract with Iran and the Ayatollahs about 4 years ago. Also I'd like to say the silence of Ynet and Haaretz over the Democratic convention leaving Jerusalem from their party platform in the states, says volumes about your bias.
7. Russia says...
Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (09.06.12)
Correct me if I'm wrong but weren't they on Hitlers side in the beginning too? They don't seem to learn the error of siding with evil. Last go round they paid with 20 million lives...if I'm not mistaken.
8. Simple Solution
Jacob Erickson ,   Holon, Israel   (09.06.12)
Not really a good one, but just have Ahmedinijad and the Ayatollas publically declare that they are only interested in peacefull applications of nuclear technology, and they know that if they use it for military purposes that they themselves will find themselves and the people of Iran the target of nuclear weapons of the west themselves. If they publically state that they are putting their own people and the existence of their country and people in jeopardy for this, I feel ok to back off for a while. That way they know and the world knows that as soon as we have one ounce of evidence of their true intentions they know and understand that they will be bombed into oblivion.
9. Yawwn
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.06.12)
I'm sorry .... Russia said something? Who cares? Hey, guys! How are things going in Chechnya? Not so good, I hear, despite everything you've thrown at the rebels. Face it. Russia's opinion on anything is about as important as what Putin had for breakfast three weeks ago.
10. Question
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.06.12)
"A permanent UN Security Council member with veto power, Russia says it opposes further sanctions beyond the measures approved in four Security Council resolutions, the most recent in 2010." Perhaps it is time to visit the issue of why Russia is a Security Council member at all. The former Soviet Union was a Security Council member, but the Soviet Union collapsed, and Russia is hardly a world power. Look how they have gotten their asses kicked in Chechnya. Bounce them out of the Security Council. They no longer belong there.
11. Who cares what the unharnessed putincrazy thinks & wants..
EU   (09.06.12)
12. Do we let Mad Mullahs use nukes on us, or not?
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.06.12)
It all boils down to one simple question: Do we let Iran's Mad Mullahs build nukes to use on us, or not? There is only one sane answer. Destroy Iran's nukes NOW!
13. Those Who Forget Their History..
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSa   (09.06.12)
Israel originally developed its nukes over the threat from the Soviet Union (read Samson Option). Few would admit it, but Rabin wife let it out inadvertently. Now, 500 nukes possessed by Israel, are mainly aimed at the Arab enemies, plus Iran. Players have changed since 48. I wonder how the Muslim world would act if Israel did not have its alleged nukes? Any guesses? For years, Ive listened to Russias various envoys and their schpiel on US TV shows ( mainly Charlie Rose). How great they are at double talk. They want a peaceful world, its to their advantage, yet do nothing to foster it. Why aid Syria's nuke program or Iran's? All have oil. Russias GDP now 2trillion and it has plenty of resources. It army is antiquated but it has thousands of nukes. It was damn frustrated over the US-Polish agreements about missile defense..yet it blames Israel for similar concerns. Everyone knows Iran has violated the 4 UNSC resolutions and Syria is killing its own (over 30,000 and climbing) ..blaming the West and "terrorists" Like Iran, Russia isnt giving one inch, and sticking its large finger in our eyes. Its part of the geo-political game. Iran, like No. Korea is banking on enhancing its power and influence with a few nukes, few but deadly. The sanctions are ineffective...only a deadline by the UN with meaning, or the US, will stop Iran' Ahmad. What if Ahmad said that 25m Russians were not kiled during WW2, its all a hoax..and besides, Russias occupation of some countries or teriritory warrants its total destruction. How would Putin react? The Ruskies have forgotten their own history sadly...and those who forget as the expression goes...
14. Mind Your Own Business
(09.06.12)
For the people under joseph stalin, Who Murded Over 30 million people during his Iron Clad reign, the ILLEGAL regime in tehran Are About As Believable as a fox guarding the hen house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How Exactly did putin handel chechneya? BRUTE FORCE? 15. #10 LOL..and replace them with israel?!!

16. BB's Iran war plan, annex Area C, prevent UNSC '67 borders
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.06.12)
...in Obama second term.
17. #10 'Sarah B'
Sarah B ,   Tel Aviv/London   (09.06.12)
If you are to be the Prime Minister of Israel you are really going to have to improvr your understanding of International Affairs. Russia is at the top table of the UN because 1)It was on the side that won WWII and 2)Russia has nuclear weapons and 3)It's economy is quiet big. Just because Putin will not do as Israel says (thank god) doesn't mean Sarah B of New York (Brooklyn Heights) can spit out her dummy and demand that the United Nations structure be made into one of which she approves. Even Israeli intelligence is in agreement that there is no agreement that Iran is pursueing nuclear weapons., Israel needs to find hardnose proof in the manner that Mordechai Vanunu provided The Times.
18. Just Take Out Hez/Hamaas and Irans Nukes
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (09.06.12)
Russia is directtly and indirectly lighting fires in that part the world. The old Kremlin mentality is alive and kicking. The reformers, as in Iran, have been squashed. Syria's insurgency other than rehtoric has no real meaningful support from the world. The UN looks on helplessly. This is the "World to Come" folks. no change from prior centuries. But, let it be a lesso to the West, the US an Israel....trust no one...there is no justice in these power plays. Russia is now part of the axis of evil..its perfidy so obvious. When you play with fire, you get burned. Russia made a treaty with Hitler...got Easter Poland and lost 30m plus most of its assets, before the West could rescue it. Had Hitler won....50m more dead Ruskies...Now, it supports a regime it knows is criminal..all for power, and rubles and sales of its weaponry, not to forget poking its huge bearish finger in the eyes of the democracies...big (US) and little (Israel). The answer: bomb Iran's 33 nuke sites (USA)..and let Israel take out Hez and Hamas ASAP. That ends the problem. Can Russia still talk to Romney, if Israel decides to go for broke and ends the surrogate militias in Lebanon and the Gaza Strip? Russis is not going to duke it out with US under any circumstances. She knows better.
19. Vanunu, Should Have Been Hung
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (09.06.12)
To Both Sarahs: Iran has violated 4 UNSC resolutions re: enrichment of uranium. That suffices in my book to take out those sites, the way the UN and NATO acted against Libya. which posed no danger to anyone. There are over 20 countries which can make atomic bombs..but have shown no interest. So. Africa and Libya were on the threshold but didn't. after some pressure and bones were thrown their way. If Iran had a stable regime, didn't torture and kill its own, did not make inflammatory statements at all levels threatening to DESTROY Israel and US interests, did not encourage terrorism and support same in the area. THEN I might agree with their repeated lies about medical isotopes. They do not need artifial fuel (nuke plants). being the 3rd largest oil reserve on the planet. They want power over the West and its allies..having a few dozen nukes gives them the opportunity. Israel does not want another Holocaust...but to some our (Jewish) blood comes cheap. Absent Israel's arsenal...well I dont want to think about it ( see Syria for the future of Israel, times 1,000). This is part of Islamic fascism's NWO, a people w/o nothing to boast about for 1400 years...except "Jihad" against Infidels, non-believers and of course the 13m Jewiwh community. Israel is the thorn in their side..keeping them from overrunning the area with their simplistic lifestyle, smiles and totally dependent on G-ds fossel fuel reserves. A nation cannot survive on making rugs alone. How many Nobel Prize winners among the Iranians and Arabs I ask? Sunniv vs Shia vs Kurds, vs Turkamen vs of course the Jews..thats their claim to fame. Russia is concerned over its millions of Musims...on it borders and is playing the Muslim card. for all its worth. They have forgotten about their treaty with the devil himself prior to WW2. and what it got them. Now they are making friends with Ahmad, Assad and that group of despots. Unfortunately, (for them) the West, the Jews, and others are this time prepared. No more Chrystal Nights, Auschwitz or Sobibor. Our Jerichos will ensure that never happens again. Hopefully the Russians, Arabs and the non-aligned nations which didnt say boo, will get the message.
20. #16 You're not such an idiot after all !!
(09.06.12)
How much easier will it be with Romney?
21. Since Russia has lost everything else
DT ,   TA Israel   (09.06.12)
in the ME they don't want to lose the last "breadbasket"
22. Sara #9..#10...YOu care less you..Ms B
Harvey G ,   Chadds Ford USA   (09.06.12)
What do you want another HOLOCAUST... You are BARKING from a safe hangout in Florida..and Jews like you are COWARDS...who want NOTHING..BUT ANOTHER MAYHEM...so we can cry for another 100 Years...
23. Just like Russia will not see that Civilians die in Syria
Sam   (09.06.12)
24. 'Disastrous for regional stability' may be a good thing
Solomon2 ,   D.C.   (09.06.12)
Since destabilizing the mullahs' rule over Iran is desirable. The true puzzle is why the Russians oppose it. Are they really willing to let their age-old hatred and envy of Jews over-ride their national security needs?
25. Regional Stability
Tom ,   Toronto   (09.06.12)
Middle East = regional stability .?
26. 22
Tom ,   Toronto   (09.06.12)
Never again Harvey , will the Jews be battered into submission by their so wonderful peaceful neighbours . The Jews don't want to cry you moron . Nor do most rational people . That you think they do is a mark of typical pathetic anti-Semitism .
27. Russia Is a super power!
Rdab ,   India   (09.06.12)
Ask your elders why they didn't invade Syria. It's because of Russia not China which is still to approch a global lethality. USSR became Russia after shedding her weaker states. BTW Russia due to its vast resources, areas, enduring people, will survive the cold aftermath of apocalypse of WW III, much much more than Europe & USA, and of course the kindler of this apocalypse, Israel will be extinct!
28. Exactly, Superpower consolidating itself.
Rdab ,   India   (09.06.12)
'Make no mistakes', Russia has not run down but has undergone a cutting edge rise recently. But for Russia WWII would have had different results. Many latest Russian lethal war technologies are being purchased by US. Much naval, polar and space Russian units are mysteries that would be known only in WWIII.
29. Harvey # 22
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (09.06.12)
It sounds like the barking is coming from Chadds Ford, USA.
30. Now is the appointed time,
African Rabbi ,   Zambia Africa   (09.06.12)
David was at the time at the appointed time and he struck Goliath. Out of the five stones Israel has, use one to strike Goliath now.
