There is no doubt that Russian economy is loosing business in Iran and Syria due to US and western countries's sanctions. However its not only Russia that is loosing business because of those sanctions.US and EU lose business too.According to a study by the European Parliament the continent hast lost 55 Billions Euros of business opportunities in Iran alone during 2008-2010.But when it comes to the west they foresee compensation when and if the succeed in regime changes, but Russia will be left out of business. It is therefore for Moscow to show its determination to support her allies.
10. US is feeling the elbows
Valdi ,   Colorado   (09.08.12)
After the collapse of SU the US started to behave as if it is alone in the world. Now it has to learn, that neither they are alone, nor the center of the universe, nor it can dictate it's will upon other nations. US will learn, that in order to achieve goals in the world they have to ask first the allies, and then act together, regardless of the issue, Syria, or other. After illegal Iraq war, torture, Guantanamo, Georgia, Libya, NATO encirclement of Russia with rockets - no wander the world is seeking more distance from it's "great" leader, who seems to act only in a very egoistic manner. Israel could also need little more distance.

14. Russian support for syrian Govt.
Carver1 ,   San jose, CA, USA   (09.10.12)
I am surprised that there has not been an effort to stop Russian UN action in support of Syria by calling for a boycott os Russian goods in the free world. That is what helped get emigration for Russian Jews. Russia needs hard currency. "If the Bear gets hungry it may dance".
