Ivor Evenbiggergun   (09.12.12)
if Jordan was spending the money in Israel on Israeli technologies then Israel would be welcoming Jordan's attempts to wean themselves off the fossil fuel provided by Iran and Iraq with open arms. However, it is a double edged sword, Jordan building it's infrastructure to provide growth for it's economy would show Israeli politicians to be liars when it comes to Israel's true economy when they coompare it like for like with Jordan Egypt etc. The fact is Israel relies on keeping it's neighbours in an economic backwater, why in 2006 Israel deliberately bombed Lebanon's oil refinery and storage facilities to pollute Beruits beaches and undermine it's tourist industry which was in daanger of growing bigger than Israel's
4. Poison dwarf...hands OFF from nukes !!!!
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (09.12.12)
5. It's glaringly obvious that Israel.....
Robert ,   Australia   (09.12.12)
shouldn't be allowed to have nuclear arms as not a day goes by when Israel's extreme right threatens to use them. Israel needs to grasp the fact that it is not the only entity that has a right to defend itself.
6. "jordan"
nadav ,   tlv   (09.12.12)
Jordan is just another, EUropean invented failed state nearing collapse just like Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Libya, and Sudan. Neither Jordan, nor its former province- aka West Bank "PA govt" are legitimate regimes. They are authoritarian and have no history of being NATION States. Jordan is a Hashemite fiefdom, created when the British partitioned its Mandate in 1922. The so called "King" comes from an Arabian peninsula clan that the British installed as rulers of the newly carved out state of TransJordan. How long do you think this fiasco will last give the current Arab Spring? Jordan's government needs to be replaced by
7. Stop changing the subject King Abdulla
rebecca ,   Modiin   (09.12.12)
You have palestinians wanting power. You have palestinians in refugee camps. And now you have Syrians wanting refuge, And suddenly you have a problem with Israel and an barely existing nuclear program? Really?
8. Power shortage? Go solar.
rebecca ,   Modiin   (09.12.12)
I'm sure Israel will help you with solar power plants. After all 92% of your territory is desert. Plenty of sun and space.
9. Jordan has better option
DV ,   Bulgaria   (09.12.12)
With such large desert areas, Jordan can cover its energy needs by solar chimney power plants. Country''s GDP in 2011 is $28.84 Billion, and the cost of one 200 MW solar chimney is $700-800 Million.
10. Robert, from Australia - is it a lie or pure ignorance?
Ehud   (09.12.12)
I don't like the right, let alone the extreme right. But no Israeli, statesman or citizen, has ever threatened to use nuclear force even once. On the contrary, Israel which has not admitted to possess nuclear weapons, has said during the last 50 years over and over again, it will not be the first to introduce nuclear weapons into the conflict.
11. "unreliable" Egypt is no excuse to go nuclear
Raymond in DC ,   Washington, USA   (09.12.12)
Yes, Jordan is reliant on imported gas. But that they've been burned by "unreliable" Egypt is not reason enough for Jordan, with a small, struggling economy, to go nuclear. Israel too is currently reliant on imported gas, and has a much stronger economy, but itself has not gone for nuclear power. I agree, Jordan can't rely on Egypt. But why not turn to your Arab brothers nearby who are rich in natural gas? Qatar for example. A pipeline will cost a lot less than $4.9 Billion. And long before a nuclear power plant could be built Jordan can avail itself of gas from ... Israel.
12. Robert # 5
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (09.12.12)
You need to grasp the fact that Israel is surrounded by people whose goal is to destroy it. Iran repeatedly makes it clear and bleats it to anyone who will listen. What is glaringly obvious is that to many people in the world are blinded by their hatred of Israel and Jews to the extent that they can not see the truth.
13. Catch-22
Ilan   (09.12.12)
An unstable regime is a bad candidate for nuclear power as it puts a nuclear weapon into easy grasp of extremists. On the other hand the absence of a better alternative energy source in itself creates instability in Jordan.
14. Prove it!
Rafi ,   Israel   (09.12.12)
Send a link to one quote of ANY Israeli threatening to use nuclear weapons!
15. #12
jj   (09.12.12)
and israel is in the middle of a load of countries that it threatens to flatten if they so much as think of looking sideways at it. its not a one way street, genius.
16. How long will the 'King' be 'King'?
Bad Ased Jew ,   United States   (09.12.12)
he's nervous because obama is not a trusted ally for Israel, Jordan, any ally we American's have left. Jordan is eyed as the next 'muslim brotherhood' state. Nothing to do with Israel.
17. Jim Crow Israel, nuke tech OK for Jews, but not Arab world
Steven Benassi ,   Silver Bay, MN USA   (09.12.12)
How long can Israel keep their Arab neighbors down? Not much longer.
18. #10 "No Israeli citizen........
Robert ,   Australia   (09.12.12)
.......has threatened nuclear force...." Evidently you don't pay much attention to the myriad of posts here by individuals claiming to be Israeli citizens whose greatest wish is to raze Iran by means of nuclear arms.
19. The delusional reactions here show how those
Abe   (09.12.12)
people are so removed from reality. Israel not only have no business telling its neighbors what sort of energy to use, when it comes to nuks it is the only country to posses them. No shoa argument can justify it, every nation has the right to protect itself from hostile neighbors and that includes, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and yes even Iran. Israel will not be able to prevent all those countries from obtaining nukes, its only hope is to join the rest of the international community, sign the NPT and stop playing loonie.
20. Can't king Abdullah just say that...
Gunnar ,   Gothenburg, Sweden   (09.12.12)
..."we in Jordan want nukes, just like everyone else wants", instead of this "peaceful purposes" c**p? I would've respecteed him so much more if he could just be honest enough to say that?

Barney ,   USA   (09.12.12)
and safety wise. it seems it should always be the first consideration in a desert kingdom. why expose yourself to the dangers of nuclear power. ?
23. I am advising Arabs and Iran
Wang Zuli ,   Shanghai   (09.12.12)
Please Arabs and Iran people, listen to me. If you want living in peace without the feeling of fear that Americans, Europe and Israeli disturb your energy programs, please invite government of China to build military bases in your territory. If we Chinese have military in Arabian and Iranian lands, no body will ever brave to disrupt your program. The Europeans and American will chicken.
24. To: No. 18
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.12.12)
We will if we have to. But Israel has a myriad of other means at its disposal. Please do remember that Israel has attempted the most civilized ways first.

Muslims have always thought they live on a one way street. It's timd they learn they don't.
26. Instead first build a gigantic
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (09.12.12)
desalination plant in Aqaba, with Israel's help. Then produce enough food for the population, water for your camels, and after it dream about nukes.
27. #14 google " Israel threatens Iran with tactical
Ken ,   Burma at Peace   (09.12.12)
nukes on Fox News. Hey Fox News, that's Israeli isn't it. Anyway, if Israel has nuclear weapon, what are they for if not to threaten? That what all countries with nuclear weapons have them for, isn't it? All countries seem to have this right, why not Iran?
28. solar cost more to make, than it produces
for it's whole life ,   time   (09.12.12)
29. #27 try using a brain
Gee ,   Zikron Yaakov   (09.12.12)
We happen to be a democracy. People have lots of opinions and in democracies have something called "Freedom of Speech" Not one of them holds a single position in the government, nor have they ever held any such position. So what is your point (besides on the one at the top of your head)? Israel has never threatened anybody period.
30. # 17
Eaglebeak ,   Left Coast, USA   (09.12.12)
Israel is a responsible nation that has proven they can be trusted with nukes. The only thing keeping the Arab neighbors down is themselves. The Arabs are their own worst enemy, not Israel.
