Why the secular do not stand up agianst the Jewish Ayatoullah for their civic rights. Since when Egged is working only for religious people while getting subsides by the tax payer money. In fact it is the secular Zionist (with the good and the bad) who build every corner of this country
2. The hara-dim should be transported to
jason white ,   afula,israel   (09.12.12)
a gulag and left there. The drivers should be fired and lose their pensions and driver's licenses. Egged was a very good company once. It has gone down the sewer in the last decade or so.A fine of several million shekels and warning their drivers to stop catering to the hara-dims might help.
3. is this israel or iran?
courtnery ,   usa   (09.12.12)
disgraceful... do haredi contribute anything positive in life?
4. Pay for the mistake! Fire the incompetent legal bungler!
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.12.12)
We pay lots of taxes for the government to hire competent lawyers to do the work to protect the people. Somebody bungled badly on this one, and there should be consequences. Either fire the bungler, or the ministry should assume responsibility and pay these citizens the compensation they are owed!
5. I cant beleive this is actually happening in
arlene ,   israel   (09.12.12)
Israel 2012. Shame on Egged, but their are many bus lines that have taken over from Egged now. Maybe these bus companies should do the regular routes and leave Egged to the heridim. I do remember how they used to leave those running for the bus, so let them now pay the price and we can use Veolia thats also cheaper than Egged.
6. we have enough problems
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (09.12.12)
Why should we start more by offending others in the 'name' of justice. If the driver felt that this women would create a difficult situation on his bus, I believe he was within his rights as a person to refuse entrance to some one who may cause problems.
7. #6 Larry
Oscar ,   fort worth, usa   (09.12.12)
No, Larry, the driver had no right to do so. Eged is a public company and as such it has to serve the general public irrespective of the driver's view. The driver does not have the right to prevent the Haredim passengers to leave the bus if they feel offended; he also does not have the right to prevent a secular person to get on the bus...Israel is not Iran
8. The truth is
babawawa ,   new york, usa   (09.12.12)
a bus driver can refuse entry on the bus to anyone. Happens all the time in the US. Why does everyone feel the need to fight about it? When you know, as I'm sure this woman did, that you're waiting for a bus on the Haredi line, bring a lightweight shirt or sweater that folds up small in your purse. Is that so hard? And don't counter with "but they shouldn't have to." Everybody's got to get along.
9. A shameful disgrace
(09.12.12)
Its the law that is shameful not the women. Its about time humanity gets priority not bigotry
10. @larry and all people of faith
david ,   Jerusalem   (09.12.12)
first of all, ''we''? You live in LA so there's no ''we''. Today your ambassador was killed because some idiots who still believe in fairy tales felt offended by a freaking movie. This is the same thing, giving up the rights of the majority, the rational people because of threats based solely on faith. Is there anything more absurd than faith?? So bc you have an imaginary friend it's OK to leave a mom a daughter stranded like garbage??

Jon   (09.12.12)
Is it so difficult for a religious fanatic to board a bus at the back door and allow the women to seat in the front? When they will start doing it, the sane people will try to be more considerate.
12. #8 Really?
marvls ,   nyc   (09.12.12)
"Happens all the time in the US"? I live here and take busses all the time - not sure where you live. Yes it would be nice if the woman dressed more modestly, but as others said, Egged is a public company and has to serve entire public. I'm religious myself and one thing our religion teaches us is to be ba'alei chesed - leaving a woman out on the streed with her daughter at night because it might offend my sense of t'zniut is not chesed but the opposite. The 'religious' people on the bus need to find out more about Judaism.
13. #6 the dense. The PROBLEM IS ALREADY THERE
Avi   (09.12.12)
If you have punks on a bus harassing people, you dont kick the victims out. You kick the punks out. The problem is already here. You suggest not addressing it, and DARE put the blame on the victims.

Exactly! Agree with every word!
15. chesed
Iletzter ,   TA- Israel   (09.13.12)
You claim to be religous and know about chesed. Does that mean allowing a half naked women board a bus with haredim ? There are plenty of secular of buses and no need to create a provocation . Maybe it is more chesed to let a man who is religous sit confortably on the bus to Jerusalem and let this immodest lady go with the secular bus. Egged is a business. A business needs to cater to his clients. On this route he is catering to haredim , who are a very bif consumer bloc. haredim have no problem setting up their own private "segregated" bus service. However doesn't want to lose their business. Therefore , he must conform to their requests - that are totally legitimate. Let this lady who wants to make a commottion go to Cairo and start parading in the street half naked- or to Ramallah. They would lynch her in minutes.
16. But the Haridim travel on ALL buses
Dan ,   KS   (09.14.12)
The Haridim have no problem getting on a chiluni bus and being near women dressed in little more than bikinis when they want to travel. They should not be permitted on chiluni buses.
17. to 15 lietzter
Jon ,   America   (10.17.12)
are you really trying to compare israels morality to egypt or the west bank?? israel should be comparing morality to western countries who are light years ahead of the arab countries. If the heridim want to be the same as the arabs (force women to cover up, threaten to beat women and children up) THEY are the ones who should move to ciaro
18. #8 - You've got it wrong...
Ruthie ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.18.12)
They didn't wait for a bus line KNOWING that it was a Haredi line - their car got stuck and they were taking whatever transportation they could find. So they couldn't have come "prepared".
