1. Attaching supernatural power to Kotel is idolatry, which
Thinking Jew ,   Israel   (09.15.12)
of course is justified by the Rabbinate
2. terrible if the almighty couldn't get people's notes
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.15.12)
and what about those poor dupes who think that mere prayer will get his attention?
3. I WENT TO THE WESTERN WALL
DA RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED OPERA HOUSE   (09.15.12)
It was like talking to a brick wall....
4. Number 1 and idolatry
Joseph ,   London UK   (09.16.12)
The Wall has no supernatural powers, but it is the boundary of a holy place where the Temple once stood -- and the sanctity remains. Some people give a kvittel to a Sage or Tzadik asking for his prayers and blessing. Some place a kvittel in the Kotel Maarovi. Only G-d hears prayers and only G-d blesses and heals those who are unwell. No one thinks the Wall has power.
5. Number 3. No bricks in site/sight.
Danny ,   London England   (09.16.12)
The Wall is made of stone, not bricks! Perhaps you were too 'rapped' up in your prayers to notice.
6. Your not talking to a wall
Think ,   Small minded people   (09.16.12)
If you actually bother to research your religion instead of criticising it constantly you'll learn something. We're not attaching supernatural powers to a wall. We're sending messages to g-d from a wall from his temple as he said every prayer from his temple will be answered
7. #4 Those who leave notes believe the wall has power
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (09.16.12)
Otherwise, they would pray to haSheim like Torah instructs. Moreover, it is Christianity that promotes an intermediary (Mxxy or Jxxxs), NOT Torah! This was emphasized in the past week's parashah!!! Go learn Torah instead of defending idolatry that has no basis other than common practice (tradition)! So does magical amulets like the hand-shaped atrocities and too many Jews regard the mezuzah as a magic amulet. It's IDOLATRY!!! Pray to haSheim; NOTHING else!
8. 6-Where does it say that? LOL
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (09.16.12)
Scrutinizing your answer should be interesting and entertaining. What Torah says is that if you're not keeping the mitzwot -- including the prohibition against avodah zarah -- your prayers are a toeivah (Prov. 28.9). Do you think Torah contradicts itself? Or that it only talks to Christians?
9. 8 try reading the bible before you lol
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.16.12)
so read 1 kings 8 and then think of some contorted answer to prove to us that, as is your wont, even though it clearly says that (lol), your ignorant knee-jerk reaction is indeed correct. should be interesting and entertaining. after all the tanakh is not just for christians, you know.
10. #5 BRICKS AND STONES
DA RAP ARTISTE ,   SAFED OPERAHOUSE   (09.16.12)
Actually Danny my dear ,I went to the Western Wall and got " stonewalled " ....ha ha ha .(you need to get up very early to try to outsmart me pal .)
11. ynet refusing to post my answer to #9
Paqid Yirmeyahu ,   Ra'anana, Israel   (09.16.12)
which discussed prayer as the Sages defined in contrast to Prov. 28.9 and the wall of the Beit ha-Miqdash as a barrier to non-Jews. #6 relies on a magical wall to transport messages. I wonder if ynet will even publish this.
12. 8 - why the "LOL"?
mike ,   israel (formerly usa   (09.16.12)
do you "LOL" because you had no clue that is in the bible? or do you "LOL" because you raised a contradiction you expect others to explain? how about this: i'm sure that if one's religion can justify rote prayer as a substitution for the explicit instruction for animal sacrifices and meticulous atonement ritual, prayer notes in a wall of an ancient worship site can be cool too. so there's really no point nitpicking about someone else's prayers or "mitzwot"(lol) under these circumstances.
13. I guess Romney's note is his last great hope!

At this point Divine Intervention may be required.
