1. Ridiculous , will Israelis aborad have to do the same
David ,   Haifa, israel   (10.11.12)
Welcome to the "big brother state" Will Israelis who travel abroad have to do the same when entering foreign countries? No of course they wont . They would be screaming anti semitism from the roof tops !
2. Say goodbye..
Jimbo ,   Tel Aviv   (10.11.12)
to Israels booming tourist industry if this idiocy ever gets approved. People generally don't appreciate being treated like criminals when they go on holiday.
3. They already have a database on visitors. Who cares?
Josh   (10.11.12)
4. The US also gets visitor's fingerprints
Gabriel ,   Brazil   (10.11.12)
And I'd love to get a visitor's identity card as a tourist. Much better than carrying the bulky passport in a pocket. To get a US visa I have to go to a US office twice, once for biometric data and another for questioning...
5. Argentina
Ariel ,   Tel Aviv   (10.11.12)
I just came back from a trip in South America and the costumes of the airport of Buenos Aires took a picture and my fingerprints because my passport is not biometric.
6. Not a big deal, #1 it's by country, not nationality
Jacob Erickson ,   Holon, Israel   (10.11.12)
If Israel decides to do it, it won't be the first one. The USA has it. Just recently I went to the states with my Israeli wife who doesn't have a US green card yet. Going through customs she had to scan her fingerprints and take a picture. If another country does it specifically for Israelis, yeah, that's racist, but if they do it for everyone, that's just being security conscious. It takes 10 seconds and anyone who doesn't want to do it should be singled out as a potential threat.
7. NO!!!
Nick Sporek ,   Jerusalem, Israel   (10.11.12)
I am not an animal and I don't need or want my life micro managed.
8. Same is a requirement in the US
Yorba Levy ,   Tel Aviv   (10.11.12)
DHS-TSA requires that all visitors are finger printed + photographed. Unlike the US, Israel doesn't require a tourist visa for any country.
9. If this goes through I AM NOT RETURNING!
AB ,   UK   (10.11.12)
10. controversial abroad & waste of money
zionist forever   (10.11.12)
Foreigners are not going to like the idea of their details being put on a biometric database and they will be suspicious of it especially after the killing of a terrorist where Mossad agents used foreign passports. It will cost hundreds of millions of Shekels to set up and will achieve nothing. For the most part tourists are not troublesome and so there is no need for them to be on a biometric database. We have details of their passport numbers etc and who they are which is all security & immigration will need. The idea that your going to get an illegal to give you their details to go on a database is just stupid. The illegals are not registered so they don't even have ID cards, do we really need to spend money ATTEMPTING to get them on a biometric database. There is not even any need of it for the average Israeli because it won't keep down crime, it will be a target for every hacker in the world have all the information needed about every Israeli citizen needed to steal identities or a terrorist hacking into the system can cause massive disruption. We need new ID cards but not biometric, basic chip & pin credit card technology is more than adequate, its a mature technology and easily available so no huge investment costs.
11. #9 Fine...stay in your rainy, miserable island..
Frank ,   USA   (10.12.12)
Never visit the USA either...
12. Idiocracy
Bill ,   New York, USA   (10.12.12)
Just combine the biometric identification with access to banking and financial data, and then everyone can pay for purchases with fingerprints or tattoos, just like in the movie "Idiocracy".
13. to #1, David
Ariel ,   Modi'in, Israel   (10.12.12)
Have you visited the US, Thailand, South Africa, etc in the recent years?? As an Israeli you would have had to provide this biometric data!! Wake up!!
14. Totally unnecessary waste of money.
Istvan ,   BUDAPEST HUNGARY   (10.12.12)
One and a half million arch enemies of Israel are already within the border.
15. @#1 The world needs more such reasoning!
Az   (10.13.12)
Hillel himself said that the Torah is summed up in the "Golden Rule!" As in, do unto others as you would have them do unto you...
