1. Apologize Nuts
Noah Lev ,   LosangelesUSA   (09.14.12)
The differenxe, in the Arab world and USA is obvious. They make anti-US moveis and write articles, besides burning our flag shouting death to American, while pressuring the Pope to stay cool about insults to militant Islam..and of course consistently blaming Jews and Judaism ( read Iran). for all that ail the Mulim world. No rioting or demonstrations here. No apologies also from there. One or one hundred film producers..so what. Its called freoodom of speech, to an extent. No crime was commiteed except to offend some peop[le ( 10 saw the first movie filming). The USA erred in blasting the film but emphasiizing its repercussions. A sorry day for US, the Constitution and the Bll of Rights. Give them a finger and they will take the entire body..and thats what is happening,, right before our eyes. "Surrender nuts" should be "Apologize nuts".
2. Hand the guy over
Henry from New York ,   Under the Tuscan Sun   (09.14.12)
In all honesty, he should be handed over. Not because he exercised his right to free speech, but rather because he produced a horribly poor quality film; a film that will probably make life harder for his fellow Copts. These two reasons are enough to have him torn apart by the angry mob of mindless drones.
3. Filmmaker Should be Protected - at Gitmo
Mark of Lewiston ,   USA   (09.14.12)
The video was designed to incite. It has, just as much as shouting "FIRE!" in a crowded theatre. While under protective custody, he should be interrogated to find out every individual involved in the planning and distribution of the video. Actors have already come forth saying their on-camera words were dubbed over with other words they never uttered.

The film may be disgusting and low quality, but that was not the first time a disgusting and low quality movie was made. The problem isn't even the reaction of the fanatic riffraff of those who think they have the privilege not to be offended by who they call pigs and monkeys. The problem is the reaction of the spineless Western diplomats who are willing to concede special rights to a 7 century legal codex, and apologize for free speech and the "offense" with Clinton herself calling the killers of her ambassador "militants" rather than murderers and terrorists. Under those circumstances you might as well hand over the American constitution
5. #2 and then what?
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (09.14.12)
Theo Van Gogh made life difficult for the Dutch. Kurt Westergaard made life difficult for the Danes. Ayan Hirsi Ali made life difficult for women. Now Sam Becile makes life difficult for the Copts? No. Obama, Clinton and everyone who bows and scrapes to mob violence will make life difficult for you by ripping up the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

The film itself is so poorly made that it is an insult to the very concept of film and this fellow has managed to place himself on par with Uwe Boll - a man who should be sent to the ICC in the Hague if they weren't so busy with other things. This guy's already in police custody, so all they have to do now is extradite him! On a more serious note I was also thoroughly disgusted by the reaction of our government. Apologising the way they did was completely unacceptable. If someone gets offended by something horribly offensive and tells you about it then you can apologise for the behaviour of your countryman. However, If someone decides that rather than telling you they are offended they destroy your property and scream about it then they do not deserve an apology, but rather to be reprimanded. I was so offended that I took the time to write a letter to my representatives in the House and Senate, though I doubt it will be read by any of them.

I was being somewhat facetious, but I do think this selfish fellow should have thought more about what the consequences of his actions might be. Of course, given that he is selfish, that would be asking too much. Then again, one can never know just how many people their actions might piss off now can they? Though the Danish cartoons should have been some indicator.

What the crowd did at the embassy is wrong, no two ways about it. But the chain of events makes you wonder why in todays unstable world would someone incite violence to what gain. In the end when you have to answer for your sins, I dont think you able to quote " the declaration of indepence". You know why you made the movie and knew the outcome or reaction. as much as the blood of those who died is on the killers, it is on the hands of those directors.
9. #7 Joking aside
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (09.14.12)
No one really knows anything about this alleged Copt, so he is probably a low life or petty criminal. Although he has the right to make the movie, why would he? And the film has been out 6 months, why the riots now? My guess is Iranian intelligence. Who else gains from destabilization of the Obama regime and "heightened sensitivity" in the Moslim world exactly now, two factors that will make it very difficult or impossible for Israel to attack until after the US elections. And if the Iranians can set-off a nuke before the US elections, they will be invulnerable to American attack.

.....If it means anything is the right to tell people what they don't want to hear. I've only seen a snippet of this film and it looks amateurish and silly and I certainly wouldn't pay to watch it. However, I don't believe that any religion, political belief, opinion etc is above being made fun of or ridiculed. I suggest if Muslims find this film offensive they avoid watching it, just like Jews and Christians finding "The Life of Brian" offensive should avoid seeing it.
11. Henry fron New York no 2
(09.14.12)
When Muslims insults other religion in films, cartoon, etc,. it is OK for them and they claim free speech and democracy. Well now, it is the same when Islam get insulted, then they must accept. Free speech & democracy. Muslims want one way ticket, they can insult Jews & Christian but not get insulted. No way they will get insulted too
12. Poorly made and in bad taste..but:
Koose E Mack ,   NY NY   (09.14.12)
Why did this terrible film incite so much ire and hate among the Muslims? The truth hurts! Muslims freely curse, profane, abuse, and kill those of other faiths, and even of their own faith. They have a carte blance to act like mad barbarians without consequence. Eventually, there will be an ultimate battle between Islam and the civilized world...Democracy and Islam can't coexist.
13. Life of Brian upset caused NO riots
Adi ,   Switzerland   (09.14.12)
Life of Brian upset caused NO riots
14. #6 Slight difference
Amichai ,   Huntsville, US   (09.14.12)
There's a slight difference from being under police protection and being in police custody. He cant' be extradited anywhere as he's committed no crime.

It was a riot
17. To: No. 6
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.14.12)
Can you take time from your doubtless busy schedule to express some degree of revulsion at the fact that three United States citizens were killed because this non-Jewish, non-American "filmmaker" -- instead of standing up for his work, which most artists tend to do -- pretended to be Jewish, Israeli and American? You should head south to the Amalfi coast. Much better weather this time of year.

I'm not sure you actually read the post as it was quite obvious I was not complimenting this person and I was outraged by this whole thing happening. I am digging in Tuscany. I am not here for a vacation.
19. Really
BIBO ,   Canada   (09.15.12)
If it was a film about how good was Hitler , The US and Google would have stopped it
