1. canceled flight
Debora Taylor ,   Mt. Pleasant,America   (09.17.12)
after the attack, it is very wise to hault ALL Flights.
2. Should have stopped years ago.

The ice-cold peace under Mubarak was a sham- they still demonized Jews and Israel. Officials of every stripe always took every opportunity to blame Israel for every problem within the country. Egypt is a lost cause- and will soon be a Islamo-police state. There is no reason why El Al should fly into such a place.
3. So Egypt is breaking the peace treaty
Ivor Evenbiggergun   (09.17.12)
by refusing to sell gas cheaper than the market rate to Israel. Yet the minute it feels like it, Israel can change the terms of the peace treaty as and when it feels fit
4. Middle East in a nutshell
Alexander ,   Tel Aviv, Israel   (09.17.12)
In the Arab countries, Israelis and Jews have to fear for their lives. In Israel, Arabs can openly demand democratic rights, Arabs can openly enjoy democratic rights and even pursue a deliberate racist policy of attacking Israel's and the Jewish people's right to exist and the Jewish people's right to live as free men, women and children in a modern Jewish state located in our ancient Jewish homeland. And the Arabs can even get away with it. How many Israelis/Jews want to enter Gaza? How many Arabs from Gaza want to enter Israel? Question: if Israel "oppresses" the Arabs, why is it that Israelis/Jews have to fear for their lives in Arab countries whereas Arabs feel perfectly safe in Israel and in fact actively seek to enter our country to reap the benefits of the very western and democratic society Arabs claim they oppose?

Bravo, El Al. Other carriers should follow El Al's example and halt flights to Egypt and all hostile countries.

8. El Al

When will you stop calling El Al, the National Airline? It is a private company, just like Arkia and Israir. It stopped being the national airline the moment it fell into private hands of the Borovitz Family.

10. I Could Have Told You so
Noah Lev ,   LosangelesUSA   (09.18.12)
A long time ago, I was personally involved in a dispute with my employer, who used every trick in the book to make me look bad. Finally, I was told by an expert, to play the "ringmaster" in a circus, keeping the animals at bay..but not getting too close to them. It worked and things changed quickly.I was in control. Same applies to the Israeli-Arab-Palestinian-Muslim conflicts. El Al should have pulled their aircraft ASA Mubarak was forced out., as a warning to the MB, of things to come should they abandon the treaty, with justification. Better late than never. Now Abbas wants to ditch Oslo..which puts everything back to square one., with all agreements signed moot. Its obvious that the M.E.is imploding and exploding with all carefully thought out agreements simply irrelevant.. The lesson: agreements with the Arabsare like the shifting sands of the desert., flued, subject to the winds and climate and quickly dissolved. Israel has always sought acceptance, hoping for treaties and other good faith measures. Put bluntly, they are meaningless. El Al should use its few aircraft on more profitable (and safe) routes. This one is a no brainer.
11. The West Must Look after Its Own Interests
Noah Lev ,   LosAngelesUSA   (09.18.12)
Lets face a simple fact of life, the M.E. is the most dysfuctional region on the planet. At one time, it was Europe, with Germany instigating the termoil. Now, virtually every country is participating in the violence, mayhem, civil unrest, abuse by govt, domination of fanatical religious groups of societies, and threats to spread the contagin. With the mob burning US and Israeli flags, and attacking US embessies, over a private short obnoxious film by an irrevant producer, no Westerner is safe in No. Africa and beyond. If this can be contained...to that area, it will quiet down. The US must never apologize for actions of its civilians to a foreign country, especially a dicatorship or fanatic govt. A solution: pull the US out of the UN..and push the UN out of the US. Thats a beginning. We must stop all economic aid to countries which allow attacks against US. Let them go to Russia and China, for assistance. Its time the US becomes "exclusive" and stops apologizing to our erstwhile friends. A Pres with the above foreign policy, is needed and now.

It clearly says that if El Al cancels it's flights that another airline will have to fill in. Hence, it is not that El Al must fly to Egypt but SOME airline must fly between Egypt and Israel. So how is it changing the treaty by changing which airline FILLS this route? In other words, how has the treaty been changed by changing which airline fulfills the conditions of the treaty? Please explain.
