1. Israel should accept an Iranian first strike.
Stephen in New York   (09.23.12)
After Tel Aviv is nuked Israel will enjoy the sympathy of the "international community" and will have greater flexibility.
2. Iran nuclear smbitions
ELY GREENHUT ,   ST LOUIS PARK   (09.23.12)
Iran has one of the World's biggest earth faults & earthquakes occur many times. One earthquake on one of their active nuclear sights, the contaminated wind will drift over Afganistan, India & Possibly China too. Nobody seem to realize that not only is Israel a threat but 25% of the world's population if such s deadly disaster occurs. Who is stopping them ??? Nobody. If an earthquake hits an Iranian nuclear site ?????? Well we will worry about that later. HUH!!!!
3. To Stephen in New York
John ,   Tel Aviv   (09.23.12)
Don't know what reality you are living in, but if Tel Aviv were nuked, the "international community" would insist that Israel not overreact.
4. First Strike
Joe Sombrero ,   USA   (09.23.12)
Hizboullah as said they had plans to attack Israel and invade through tunnels hope we are prepared and don't repeat the mistake of 1973 and allow it to happen. Iran talking about attacking first just like the Japanese did in WW2 in response to the 1941 oil embargo. History repeats itself.
5. Irans threats are EMPTY...that is, why they
Chris Rettenmoser ,   Bayerisch Gmain Germ   (09.23.12)
are on their MAD DASH, to go nuclear... BOMB...BOMB...BOMB Iran...N O W !
6. #3- well, then, add Haifa to the list
Stephen in New York   (09.23.12)
of nuked Israeli cities. But I agree that the "international community" won't want Israel to do anything to upset the Iranians or the Islamists. The Israelis should cooperate and go quietly to their deaths.
7. IRAN : strike a chance to wipe Israel.
dorothy ,   kiron - israel   (09.23.12)
When will the world wake up? Both sides will use nukes and the world will come to an end.
8. It looks like Irans
Giggly me!   (09.23.12)
Rockets are on display outside a Bus stop!
9. A dog without theet barks louder
Septimus Severus ,   Rome   (09.23.12)
says a old roman saying. Iran harsh words did not scare anyone. We all know what theya re caapable to do: unleash the hezb , try to close the Hormuz staraits and send terrorists squads on a killing spree worlwide. But the more they extend the war, the more they will be hit in their vital infrastructure, taht are very easy targets. Icidently a blowing defeat will mark the downfall of the shiite regime.
10. Boo hoo
Arctodus Simus ,   Fort Yukon-Alaska   (09.23.12)
I am afraid (not) These nonsensical rants gives only a valid reason to deny the iranaian terrorist governement their so called "rigth to nukes". And gives a additional proof if needed, why Iran should be attacked without delay !

Are you out of your friggin mind?
12. To all commentators
Harold ,   USA   (09.23.12)
Never underestimate the Iranian Generals' statements. I predict they have something that could flatten Israel. A Nuclear free Middle East is the best solution.
13. read between the lines
Larry ,   Los Angeles   (09.23.12)
When the Arabs say this, it means that they do not have the ability to do such, so they just threaten. If they had the ability, they would not threaten, they would just strike. Learn to read the Arab mind and mentality. To lie is great and if by lying you can achieve your goals it is considered brilliant.
14. #1 half-right
israel israeli ,   tel aviv   (09.23.12)
Israel would enjoy no sympathy. The "international community" will condemn Israel and call for restraint. That said, there are reasons to accept an Iranian first strike. If Israel attacks first, there is a good chance that Iran will have no choice but to respond together with Hamas, Hezbolla and Fatah, the various Syrian forces and probably Egypt. Israel might lose. If Iran strikes while Israel holds Judea and Samaria, 40000 Tel Avivians will die, but Israel will survive and Iran knows it. In the following counterstrike and ensuing war, the Iranian leadership will lose all of their wealth for nothing. All Israel needs to do now is prepare for an attack by preparing as much infrastructure as possible in the periphery, especially Judea and Samaria. As Israel's survivability increases, the chance of Iranian attack decreases.

Moragh   (09.23.12)
Who the hell gave them that name...... or is it "fitting"... I think so!
16. Millions dead to elicit sympathy? Stephen, You're Nuts!
Edward ,   New York USA   (09.23.12)
17. when democracies stand still and let fascists arm themselves
ghilmeini ,   us   (09.23.12)
there is an ever greater danger and Israel needs to crush the Iranian criminal regime now before it really is too late.
18. #2 exploding bomb on e - fault does nothing
Lemmings Hotline ,   sd usa   (09.23.12)
Earthquakes are caused by two large seismic plates building tension , then releasing it. Its probably an event larger than an H bomb, but over more area. Therefore , exploding a device over a fault does nothing if there is no tension built up between the two plates.
19. Iran general SALAMI ?!..good name for a swine !
Andre ,   Clichy, France   (09.23.12)
Halal Swine no doubt. To be sliced
20. Postive proof Iran's nukes must be destroyed at ANY cost.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.23.12)
If EMPs or nuclear bombs are needed to avoid another holocaust; so be it. America used nukes on Japan to end WW II. Japan never posed an existential threat to America. Iran poses a clear existential threat to Israel. ANYTHING is justified to prevent another holocaust.
21. 14-Israel Israeli-Remember 1973
Stephen in New York   (09.23.12)
when the Israeli gov was persuaded to not strike first to placate the "international community?" One mistake like that was enough.
22. empty threats

Such big words from such a cute little country

26. The Mouse That Roared
Bill Foonman ,   Jacksonville USA   (09.23.12)
Iran has no concept of the firepower that the U.S. (and Israel) will launch should they attack U.S. bases. It will take a lifetime to undo what the U.S. will unleash on them in 48 hours.
27. I just hope...
Scarey stuff ,   here   (09.23.12)
that we actually do not know what's going on behind the scenes. We read so much about who's thinking of doing what, that it can leave one wondering that if the Iranian lunatics do play out their EVIL, that Israel, the US, the various fence-sitting EU countries and even the "we are on the other side of the world" Aussies are ready to react and put this threat to humanity to bed. Please reassure me that we the citizens of the world know nothing about what's really happening...
28. #20, THINK AGAIN...
Frank-el ,   Seattle USA   (09.23.12)
Here's a more relavant analogy to your so-called "existential threat". The Soviet Union posed a real threat to the US in the Cold War and unlike Iran they had LOTS of nukes. DId America pee it's pants over this "existential threat" and launch WW3 over it? No, and thank goodness or neither of us might be wrting these talkbacks now. I lived through the time when we had atomic bomb attack drills and watched Civil Defense films on how to behave when nuked. Maybe you should have thought about "existential threats" when Israel started the ME nuclear arms race. Make no mistake about it, an attack on Iranian facilities is an act of war. I'm not afraid to go to crowded events or fly now but I will fear for my family's safety if you start a hot war war. I don't want Iran to have nukes...but then again I dont want Israel to have them either.
29. The Iranians are changing their tune
Noodles ,   Coney Island   (09.23.12)
Just a few months ago they were saying that Israel would never dare attack them. Now we're hearing something else. Oh well, the pressure must be getting to them. For what it's worth, I think Israel will attack and not be wiped out as a result. In other words, humiliation time for Iran.
