as a dad of a soldier thank you very much. Keep up the great work
2. Heroism
Rhonda ,   Chicago, USA   (09.24.12)
Corporal S, thank you for your heroism under fire. We are very proud of your bravery. You are a role model and someone we all can look up to. As for the soldier who hid, this won't be the first time in an army in combat conditions that a person was overcome with fear and couldn't perform. It could have cost her life and that of other soldiers. The soldier needs help and I hope will get it.
3. Corporal S ....
Sarah B ,   U.S.A. / Israel   (09.24.12)
.... take your rightful place among the heroes of Israel. You are a proud daughter of Judith and Deborah. And many others whose names we do not know. G-d bless you, and all who sail in you!
4. Corporal S
sk ,   USA   (09.24.12)
You did awesome! Although very sad and sorry for your fellow soldier.

mkiefer ,   miami usa   (09.24.12)
Great job to the Female sniper In my heart and prayers go out to the one that may have been kidnapped and to her family and friends
6. Soldier that Hid
SteveR ,   Dallas USA   (09.24.12)
Only reprimanded? A male soldier would be court martialed and jailed. You play up the female soldier that did well but play down the one that did not perform. If the army does this, it will lead to operational failures. Israel cannot afford that just to be politically correct.
7. Kol Hakavod: That's My Kind Of Lady!
emanon ,   USA   (09.24.12)
8. Well done...
talya ,   israel   (09.24.12)
" ... the terrorists took advantage of the arrival of African infiltrators and the fact that IDF soldiers left their post to offer them water..." That sentence perhaps sums it all up. Israel is, and will always remain, the most moral army in the world, even in the harshest of conditions and under the greatest of threats. Kol Hakavod and may the Lord watch over every single soldier of Tzahal.
9. 2 cents
(09.24.12)
Her story is very courageous however, as a female myself, I find the pictures demeaning. Did they really have to pose her next to a hummer like that? Chest out with her hair blowing in the wind...one foot propped up on the wheel. If she had less clothes on she would look like she was the center fold in some car mag. Just my first reaction. Maybe, I'm projecting.
10. Well done, you are a plucky young woman
Arlene ,   Israel   (09.24.12)
and think you would make a good commander. Its so easy for others to talk but no one knows how they will react until in the situation, so to the other girl, its not hard to understand you, I feel for you because this will always be with you, but who knows, if there is a next time you may be the brave one. Where terrorists are concerned....shoot first, then ask questions (if poss!)
11. Scum attacked IDf that were giving aid?!
michael redbourn ,   Arad   (09.24.12)
The world should see the huge difference between Israel soldiers who risked their lives to give water to illegals who wanted to enter Israel and the scum that attacked them. Corporal S is an example or what makes Israel great and invincible!
12. @9: You Are Projecting
emanon ,   USA   (09.24.12)
She's done a good job and I, for one, see nothing detracting in the picture and find no hidden messages or suggestions. There have been lots of photos of male soldiers in similar poses, so what's your point?
13. What does the terrorist say to his 72 virgins?
Brian Cohen ,   Judean Peoples Front   (09.24.12)
This Islamic martyr is now in paradise, but how does he explain to his 72 virgins that a woman zionist soldier sent him there? How embarrassing for him.
14. To number 6
Shimon ,   Poleg   (09.24.12)
From your comment you have never been shot at. It is obvious that you do not have the intellectual tools to understand what it is to be under fire. I have been under fire many times in my army career both in Sedir and Miluim and I can tell you that the natural instinct is self preservation and survival. A real fire fight is not like in the movies. It takes intense training and experience to override this instinct and fight. Being in a firefight is a difficult thing and until you have been in this situation please do not judge.
15. Anyone remember Gilad Shalit?
Ish Kabibble ,   Delancey   (09.24.12)
He was held captive for more than 5 years, confined in the dark for all of that time Pity the second Soldier that was hiding behind a dune, if she had been captured, she would have been better of committing suicide before they got to her In her case, discretion was the better part of valor
16. #7 EMANONON
BEN JABO (MACHAL) ,   ISRAEL   (09.24.12)
Be here kind of man, go enlist & help her
17. Two soldiers: Courage & Cowardice
rivkah f. ,   Jerusalem   (09.24.12)
Both male and female soldiers display courage like the sniper and both may display cowardice (a male soldier hid & ran in Lebanon when his unit was attacked several years ago). Clearly the cowardly ones, especially the girl who hid & caused so much concern for the army and actually phoned her mother on the cell phone, are not suited for combat units and possibly not for military service. They are immature. And cell phones should be forbidden for soldiers on patrol.
18. idf training
milson   (09.24.12)
idf training has got to be more effective in taking greenhorns, weaklings and fearful types and converting them to never say die fighters for the state of israel. This female soldier apparently hid for an hour or more behind a bush with her gun as she was afraid. traing should deal with this kind of soldier before hand to strenghten their will. Hamas had commented when they took shalit captive that he did not look like a soldier, he appeared passive. IDF training has got to toughen up israelis to be universal fighters for the state and not to hide behind a bush. She had a gun and was not defenceless.
19. God bless ya kid..you and all the other soldiers
Al   (09.24.12)
keep Israel free and proud. God loves evryone so long as we all shoot straight. God bless ya.
20. Hero all the way!
Evan ,   Israel   (09.24.12)
21. #9 Maybe you're jealous
(09.24.12)
22. Shimon, you say it take intense training
AK   (09.24.12)
To overcome fear. You're absolutely right. But does that female soldier's reaction shows exactly that she was undertrained, perhaps? And if you put undertrained soldiers in the front lines, don't you put all soldiers at risk? As proud we may be of the soldiers giving aid to illegals, weren't they , by leaving their position ,showing their lack of discipline? We don' t really want 'the most humanitarian army,' we want alive soldiers, who kill the enemy. That goes for Israeli as well as American soldiers, who keep getting killed for 'the most humanitarian army crock,' invented by people who don't send their sons and daughter to fight on the front lines. Perhaps the 'peace' propaganda is responsible for the fact that Israeli soldiers let down their guard, forgetting that they're in active combat at all times.
23. @16: I Would Like To But I'm Classified TFO
emanon ,   USA   (09.24.12)
24. #22
Nathan ,   Israel/USA   (09.24.12)
I do not know if you have ever been under fire yourself but...Unless you have been in a combat unit and have yourself been under enemy fire then I would not comment here. Even with intense training you can never tell how a person will react when they are under enemy fire for the first time. So...unless you have "seen the elephant" please keep your criticisms to yourself.
25. very good done by the IDF soldiers..
Beary White ,   Norway   (09.24.12)
..who removed the terrorists from the face of the earth. The female soldier who fell through, should be allowed to be dismissed from IDF and get some help. If the terrorists had won the fire-battle, the the girl behind the bush, not defending herself, would be on her way through a tunnell to bad threatment. That is the sad facts..
26. Israel's own Annie Oakley! Americans will know who she was!
Alan ,   SA   (09.24.12)
She was a famous daughter of the Wild West who could shoot better and straighter than any man!
27. Let's do what has to be done re: Irans nukes.
Chaim ,   Israel   (09.24.12)
Destroy them NOW!
28. Women
David ,   NY   (09.24.12)
Should not hold combat positions in the army. Sure, some will be good but it lowers the overall quality and creates distractions for the men
29. # 28
Birdi ,   Israel   (09.24.12)
Male chauvinist. Women & men are EQUAL in the IDF.
30. #8 -Birdi - who said men and women are
miri ,   israel   (09.24.12)
equal in the IDF. Not all women are suited to combat and it takes an exceptional woman to do this.
